Risk scorecard
Each area is scored 0 (clean) to 10 (worst). Higher means more risk.
Regulation
7/10 · HighNo licence confirmed in Bancara LTD's own name; the three Mwali numbers come from a body the Comoros central bank calls fictitious and are absent from its published lists, while the FSCA, ASIC and VFSC entries belong to three other companies. No warning-list hit, and the outside numbers are real rather than fabricated.
Identity & transparency
8/10 · CriticalThe terms withhold the contracting entity and the governing law until after account approval, the three named executives appear nowhere outside the broker's own site, and the Johannesburg office address differs from the registered address of the South African company whose licence is cited.
Withdrawals & conduct
2/10 · LowNo fund-integrity complaints on any platform checked: no refused or delayed withdrawals, no frozen balances and no demands for payment to release funds. The one critical review concerns unanswered emails and phone lines, not money.
Reputation
6/10 · HighThin and lopsided: 13 Trustpilot reviews at 3.9 for a firm claiming eleven countries, with eleven five-star entries clustered in a single three-month window and the company answering positives but not the one complaint. No regulator warning anywhere.
Website claims
8/10 · CriticalA company registration number is printed under the heading LICENCE NUMBER with ASIC named as regulator, other companies' authorisations are presented as group licences, the press page claims media attention while naming no publication, and heritage across generations is implied by a two-year-old operation.
Operational history
6/10 · HighVerified track record is about two years from the September 2024 domain registration, with the site's own pages dating from May 2025. The operating company could not be dated because Mwali publishes no searchable registry, so the figure is an upper bound.
Who they are
A quick desk file on the company behind the brand.
- Brand: Bancara, a multi-asset CFD and trading platform for retail and institutional clients.
- Legal entity: Bancara LTD. The contracting company is not named in the terms and conditions.
- Registered: Comoros, per the broker's own licensing page. Mwali publishes no searchable company registry, so the incorporation could not be dated.
- Website: bancara.com, with the client portal at client.bancara.com.
- Only licences in its own name: three from the Mwali International Services Authority (BFX2025085 brokerage and clearing, B2025121 banking, CL20250609 crypto asset provider).
- Also advertised: FSCA 51687, an ASIC company number and VFSC 700627, all held by three separate companies.
- Offers: currencies, commodities, indices, shares and crypto CFDs on Bancara X, MetaTrader 5, AutoBancara, Cooma Social and TipRanks. Funding is by bank wire and SWIFT or SEPA, plus internal transfers.

Why we reached this verdict
How the evidence adds up.
The verdict rests on what could not be verified about who regulates Bancara and who would hold a client's money, not on any finding that money has been taken.
- Three licences belong to other companies. The FSCA register returns FSP 51687 as MAGAUTA CAPITAL (PTY) LTD, a Johannesburg company registered 2021/463401/07 and authorised on 11 August 2021. Searching the same register for Bancara returns zero results, and Bancara is not recorded as a trading name. The VFSC financial dealers list shows number 700627 against ISLAND CAPITAL LTD, licensed 3 August 2023. Bancara appears nowhere in that list of 67 licensees. The Australian entry resolves to ALTUS INVESTIUM LTD on the national business register.
- One of the six is not a licence at all. The Australian row gives ACN 169 233 078 and ABN 87 169 233 078 as the LICENCE NUMBER, the type as Australian Public Company Limited By Shares, and the regulator as ASIC. That is a company registration. It is not financial regulation and it authorises nothing.
- The Australian company is publicly presented as another broker's operator. Altus Investium Ltd holds AFSL 458097, which permits general financial product advice only and dealing on behalf of others. That licence is used by a separate retail trading brand, whose own site states the company does not issue CFDs, does not make a market and does not act as principal counterparty. Bancara's site states the opposite about itself, that as a market maker it may act as the counterparty to client trades.
- The South African licence would not cover this business either. Magauta Capital's authorisation is Category I, covering advice and intermediary services. It does not permit running a retail derivatives book as principal.
- The only licences in Bancara's own name come from a body the national central bank rejects. The Central Bank of the Comoros named the Mwali authority among fictitious structures claiming to issue licences, in a communique republished in December 2025. Mwali's own published lists of brokerage, banking and crypto companies carry no entries issued after 2024, so the three 2025 numbers could not be confirmed there or anywhere else.
- A client cannot find out who they are dealing with. The terms and conditions say the Bancara entity acting as counterparty is the one identified during account opening and confirmed on approval, and that governing law follows that unnamed entity's jurisdiction. Which company holds the money, and which country's courts apply, are both withheld until after an account exists.
- The footprint does not match the claims. The LinkedIn page states 201 to 500 employees and the site claims clients across eleven countries, yet there are 13 Trustpilot reviews. The press page says Bancara attracts attention from financial publications and global business media but names no publication and links to no article. The three named executives appear on Bancara's own site and nowhere else.
- Offices without permissions. Offices are advertised in Geneva, Dubai and Hong Kong. Bancara holds no authorisation from FINMA, the UAE authorities or the SFC.
- What runs the other way, and it matters. No regulator warning names Bancara on the FCA, IOSCO, CFTC, ASIC, FSCA or CONSOB lists. Nobody reports a refused or delayed withdrawal on any platform we checked. Funding runs through bank wire rather than crypto wallets. The legal documentation is complete and in places candid, including a statement that local investor protection schemes may not apply. The three third-party companies are real and verifiable rather than invented, and the site copy matches no known scam template.
- How the figure was reached. The evidence-based score came to 68 out of 100. Because registers confirm that credentials advertised here belong to other companies, and because the operation is about two years old, the published figure is 70. The age figure is an upper bound: Mwali publishes no searchable company registry, so Bancara LTD itself could not be dated and the track record rests on the domain alone.
Evidence ledger
Every finding, with its source and how strongly it points.
E1Bancara's own licensing page lists six authorisations, three of them recorded against MAGAUTA CAPITAL (PTY) LTD, ALTUS INVESTIUM LTD and ISLAND CAPITAL LTD rather than Bancara LTD, under the statement that Bancara operates under full regulatory oversight.
E2The FSCA register returns FSP 51687 as MAGAUTA CAPITAL (PTY) LTD, registration 2021/463401/07, authorised 11 August 2021, at 1 Hood Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg, with a Category I advice and intermediary authorisation and no trading name recorded.
E3Searching the same FSCA register by name for bancara returns the result that there are 0 FSPs matching the search criteria, so Bancara holds no South African authorisation and is not a recorded trading name of the licence it advertises.
E4The VFSC financial dealers licensee list records number 700627 against ISLAND CAPITAL LTD, classes A, B and C, active, dated 3 August 2023. Bancara appears nowhere among the 67 licensees.
E5The Australian Business Register shows ACN 169 233 078 and ABN 87 169 233 078 as ALTUS INVESTIUM LTD, an Australian public company active since 24 April 2014 in Sydney. Bancara presents this company registration under the heading LICENCE NUMBER with ASIC named as the regulator.
E6The Mwali authority's published brokerage list carries licence numbers only up to BFX2024235 with no entries issued after 2024, and the banking and crypto lists stop in the same year, so the three 2025 numbers Bancara advertises cannot be confirmed against the issuer's own records.
E7The Central Bank of the Comoros issued a communique naming the Mwali International Services Authority among fictitious structures claiming to issue licences to banks and financial institutions in the Union of the Comoros, republished in December 2025.
E8Bancara's terms and conditions state that the Bancara entity acting as the client's contractual counterparty is the one identified during account opening and confirmed on approval, and that governing law follows that unnamed entity's jurisdiction, so neither is disclosed before an account exists.
E9Altus Investium Ltd holds AFSL 458097, current since 21 August 2014, authorising general financial product advice only and dealing on behalf of others, which does not permit issuing CFDs or making a market to retail clients.
E10The domain bancara.com was registered on 18 September 2024 through GoDaddy and runs on Cloudflare nameservers, giving an operating history of about two years against a site that presents itself as a long-established institution.
E11The branch directory advertises offices in Geneva, Dubai, Johannesburg and Hong Kong, with no telephone number for any of them, while Bancara holds no authorisation from the Swiss, UAE or Hong Kong regulators.
ModerateBancara branch directoryE12The press and media page states that Bancara continues to attract attention from financial publications, analysts and global business media, but names no publication, cites no article and links to no coverage.
E13Trustpilot shows 13 reviews at 3.9 with the profile claimed in July 2025, eleven five-star reviews clustered between December 2025 and February 2026, and a single one-star review from August 2026 reporting that emails bounce and phone lines ring out, which the company has not answered.
E14The three executives named on the about page, Markus Vermeer, Amina El-Sayeed and Kenji Nakamoto, return no independent trace, with every biographical detail sourced back to Bancara's own site, while the LinkedIn page claims 201 to 500 employees.
E15No warning, alert or enforcement entry naming Bancara or bancara.com was found on the FCA Warning List, the IOSCO investor alerts portal, the CFTC RED List, the ASIC investor alert list, the FSCA or CONSOB, and Bancara does not appear on the Mwali suspended or liquidated company lists.
E16No complaint on any platform checked reports a refused, delayed or reversed withdrawal, a frozen balance or a demand for payment to release funds, and funding runs through bank wire with SWIFT and SEPA rather than crypto wallets.
E17An exact-phrase search of distinctive copy from the Bancara homepage returns no other broker site, so the site does not match a shared scam template, and the legal documentation includes candid disclosures that local investor protection schemes may not apply and that the firm may act as counterparty to client trades.
The other side
The strongest case in this broker’s favour.
The case for Bancara being an ordinary, if weakly regulated, offshore broker is real and worth stating.
- Nothing here establishes that anyone has lost money. In roughly two years of operation, across Trustpilot and two other platforms, not one person reports a withdrawal being refused, delayed or reversed, and nobody reports being asked to pay a fee to release funds. That is the single most telling absence in a scam investigation, and it is absent.
- No regulator anywhere has flagged Bancara. The FCA, IOSCO, CFTC, ASIC, FSCA and CONSOB lists return nothing, and Bancara does not appear on Mwali's suspended or liquidated lists.
- The three outside companies are genuine. FSP 51687, AFSL 458097 and VFSC 700627 all resolve to real, currently authorised businesses. A pure fraud usually invents numbers or copies a famous firm's. Bancara did neither, and it prints each outside company's name next to its licence rather than hiding it.
- An undisclosed but genuine commercial arrangement is possible. Introducing broker, white label and group structures are normal in this industry, and Bancara openly offers both introducing broker and white label services. If Magauta, Altus Investium and Island Capital really are affiliates, the licensing page would be poorly explained rather than untrue. We could find no independent confirmation of any such relationship, but we could not disprove one either.
- Money moves by bank wire and SWIFT, not to crypto wallets, and the terms describe client funds as held separately from company funds. Neither proves safety, but both cut against the usual pattern.
- The disclosure is in places more honest than most. The site warns that local investor protection schemes may not apply, discloses the market maker conflict of interest, and states plainly that no guaranteed profits exist.
- Trustpilot sits at 3.9 with the profile claimed and the company replying to reviews. The one critical review concerns unanswered emails and phone lines, not money.
What would change this
What we would need to see to revise the verdict.
This verdict is about missing verification, so specific, checkable facts would move it in either direction.
- Toward a better rating: Bancara naming, on its own site and before account opening, the single company that contracts with clients and the law that governs the agreement.
- Documentation showing the ownership link between Bancara LTD and Magauta Capital (Pty) Ltd, Altus Investium Ltd and Island Capital Ltd, or those companies confirming the relationship on their own sites or in their regulatory filings.
- The Mwali authority publishing current entries so that BFX2025085, B2025121 and CL20250609 can be seen against Bancara LTD, and Bancara publishing a direct verification link for each.
- Better still, an authorisation from a regulator that supervises client money, such as the FSCA in Bancara's own name with a derivatives category, or a CySEC, FCA or ASIC licence held by the contracting entity.
- Removal of the ASIC company number from the licensing page, or its relabelling as a company registration rather than a licence.
- A visible client base matching the claims: named press coverage, executives with verifiable professional histories, and a review volume consistent with eleven countries of operation.
- Toward a worse rating: any regulator warning naming bancara.com; credible reports of withdrawals being refused, accounts frozen with a balance, or a payment demanded before funds are released; or confirmation from Magauta Capital, Altus Investium or Island Capital that Bancara uses their credentials without authority.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about this broker’s safety.
Is Bancara a scam?
We cannot call it a scam, and we found no evidence that it has taken anyone's money. What we can say is that its regulatory claims do not hold up. Three of the six licences it advertises belong to other companies, one of those is a company registration rather than a licence, and the three in its own name come from an authority the Comoros central bank does not recognise. Treat it as unverified and do not deposit.
Is Bancara a fraud?
No regulator or court has found Bancara guilty of fraud. We checked the FCA, IOSCO, CFTC, ASIC, FSCA and CONSOB warning lists and found no entry naming Bancara or bancara.com, and no fraud-related enforcement or court record. We did find that its licensing page presents other companies' authorisations as its own, which we assess as a serious misrepresentation of regulatory status rather than a proven crime.
Is Bancara regulated?
Not in any meaningful sense. The only licences in Bancara LTD's name are three from the Mwali International Services Authority in the Comoros. The Central Bank of the Comoros has named that authority among fictitious structures claiming to issue licences, in a notice republished in December 2025. The FSCA, ASIC and VFSC entries on Bancara's page belong to three other companies.
Whose licences are on the Bancara website?
FSP 51687 belongs to Magauta Capital (Pty) Ltd of Johannesburg. The Australian number belongs to Altus Investium Ltd of Sydney and is a company registration, not a licence. VFSC 700627 belongs to Island Capital Ltd of Vanuatu. All three are real companies, and all three are separate from Bancara LTD. Bancara publishes no evidence of any ownership link.
Can I withdraw my money from Bancara?
We found no reports of anyone being refused a withdrawal, which is genuinely reassuring as far as it goes. The problem is different: the terms do not say which company holds your money or which country's law applies, so if a payment were withheld it is unclear who you would pursue and where. If you hold an account, test a small withdrawal first and keep written records.
Is my money safe with Bancara?
There is no compensation scheme behind it. The terms say client funds are kept separate from company funds, and the site itself warns that local investor protection schemes may not apply. Because no regulator that supervises client money oversees the contracting entity, nobody independent is checking that segregation is real.
Who owns and runs Bancara?
The site names three executives: Markus Vermeer as chief executive, Amina El-Sayeed as chief operating officer and Kenji Nakamoto as chief strategy officer. We could find no trace of any of them outside Bancara's own website. Ownership of Bancara LTD is not disclosed, and Mwali publishes no searchable company registry.
How old is Bancara?
About two years. The domain bancara.com was registered on 18 September 2024, and the site's own pages date from May 2025. No founding year is published anywhere on the site, although it describes itself as an institution with heritage across generations. Because the company itself cannot be dated, two years is an upper bound.
What is a MISA licence from the Comoros worth?
Very little. The Mwali International Services Authority is a self-declared island registrar, not a functioning supervisor. The Central Bank of the Comoros has stated that it is a fictitious structure and that banking and financial regulation is the exclusive competence of the union's central bank. A licence from it gives you no compensation scheme, no ombudsman and no realistic route to recover funds.
Bancara advertises a banking licence. Is it a bank?
No. The banking licence it cites, B2025121, comes from the same Mwali authority the Comoros central bank does not recognise, and it is not on the authority's own published banking list. Bancara is not a licensed bank in any jurisdiction whose regulator supervises deposits, and money held with it does not carry deposit protection.
Is Bancara a clone of another broker?
No. It is not copying the name, branding or licence of a well-known regulated firm, which is what a clone does. The issue is different: it presents genuine credentials belonging to three unrelated companies as though they were group licences of its own.
Why does Bancara have offices in Geneva, Dubai and Hong Kong but no licence there?
That is exactly the concern. The branch directory lists offices in Geneva, Dubai, Johannesburg and Hong Kong, and Bancara holds no authorisation from FINMA in Switzerland, from the UAE regulators or from the SFC in Hong Kong. An address in a financial centre is not permission to provide financial services from it.
Does the Trustpilot score mean Bancara is trustworthy?
Be careful with it. There are only 13 reviews for a company that claims clients in eleven countries and lists 201 to 500 employees. Eleven of the five-star reviews fall between December 2025 and February 2026, and the company replies to positive reviews but has not answered the single critical one, which reports that emails bounce and phone lines ring out.
What should I check before depositing with any broker?
Get the exact legal entity name and licence number, then look it up on the regulator's own register rather than on the broker's site, and confirm the register shows that entity and that website. Check the licence permits dealing or market making, not just advice. Confirm which country's law governs your agreement and whether a compensation scheme covers you. If any of that is withheld until after you open an account, stop.
I already deposited with Bancara. What should I do?
Request a full withdrawal now and keep every request, ticket number and reply in writing. Ask in writing which entity holds your funds, in which country and under which licence. If a withdrawal is refused or stalled, complain through the published complaints procedure, report it to the financial regulator where you live, and contact your bank about recalling a recent transfer. Never pay a fee, tax or charge demanded as a condition of releasing your own money, and ignore anyone who offers to recover funds for an upfront payment.
What we recommend
The practical takeaway from everything above.
Treat Bancara as unverified and keep money out of it until the basics are answered.
- Do not deposit while the company that would hold your funds is not named before account opening. If you cannot identify the counterparty and the governing law, you cannot enforce anything.
- Do not rely on the licensing page. Four of the six rows describe either another company or a company registration. Only the three Mwali numbers are in Bancara's name, and the Comoros central bank does not recognise that authority.
- If you already have an account, request a full withdrawal and test it with a small amount first. Keep written records of every request, ticket number and reply, and take your own copies of statements.
- Ask directly, in writing, which legal entity holds your money, in which country, under which regulator and licence number, and where client funds are banked. A straight answer should take one email.
- Verify independently using the register links below rather than any badge or number shown on the broker's site.
- If you cannot get funds back, complain in writing through the published complaints procedure, then report to the regulator of the country where you live, and to your bank for a payment recall if the transfer is recent.
- If you want equivalent products with recourse, choose a broker authorised by a regulator that supervises client money and offers a compensation scheme.
