Broker spread comparison

FxPro has the tightest measured EURUSD spread at 0.30 pips. We read every price 11 brokers send, tick by tick, across 10 instruments.

Every tick, not a sample

502.4M quotes since 2026-09-01. We read the broker's own tick stream, so nothing between two readings is missed.

One scale for every broker

Brokers quote gold with two or three digits. Every figure is converted to the instrument's own unit before it is compared.

Weighted by how long it held

A spread that stood for nine minutes counts more than one that flickered for a second.

How these numbers are measured

The same method for every broker on this page. Nothing is modelled, estimated or supplied by a broker.

What we do

We hold a real MetaTrader 5 account at each broker and read every price it sends. Figures are grouped into ten-minute windows, and a window less than 95% complete is discarded rather than shown faintly. We never place a trade.

Why it is worth reading

An advertised spread is usually the best case: one instrument, at the calmest hour. These figures are the mean across the whole measured period, including the daily rollover and news, so they describe what is actually paid.

Spread comparison: common questions

Which broker has the cheapest spreads?

On EURUSD, FxPro has the tightest measured spread at 0.30 pips. The widest of the 11 brokers we measure is Alpari at 2.25 pips, which is 7.43× the cheapest. Rankings differ by instrument, so the instrument you actually trade is the one to check.

How does Wikilix measure broker spreads?

We hold a real MetaTrader 5 account at each broker and read every price it sends — its own tick stream, not a sample — across 10 instruments, 502.4M quotes since 2026-09-01. Each spread is weighted by how long it held, not by how many quotes were sent. Readings are grouped into ten-minute windows and a window less than 95% complete is excluded. We never place a trade.

Which broker has the cheapest gold (XAUUSD) spread?

NPE Market, at 16.9 points. Gold is quoted in points rather than pips, and brokers quote it with two or three digits, so a raw comparison can be tenfold wrong. Every gold figure here is converted to the same scale first.

What is a spread and why does it matter?

The spread is the gap between the price you can buy at and the price you can sell at. It is charged on every trade, at entry and at exit, so a difference of one pips on EURUSD is a real and repeated cost. It is usually the largest trading cost a retail trader pays.

Why do these numbers differ from the spreads a broker advertises?

An advertised spread is usually the best case: one instrument, at the calmest hour, on the tightest account type. These figures are the time-weighted mean across the whole measured period, including the daily rollover and news, so they describe what is actually paid rather than what is possible.

How fresh is this comparison?
