Is IC Markets (9pfx.com) a scam?

Likely scamMEDIUM confidenceClone of IC Markets
Updated September 9, 2026
Clone of a regulated broker (IC Markets)

Yes. The 'IC Markets' site at 9pfx.com is a scam. It is a clone that copied the name and licences of the genuine, regulated broker IC Markets to take money from retail traders in Taiwan and China, and it has since shut down.

  • The genuine IC Markets trades at ic.com and icmarkets.com and is regulated by ASIC, CySEC and the Seychelles FSA. The domains 9pfx.com, p8fxs.com and z6fxs.com belong to none of those entities.
  • One operator ran three near-identical sites in sequence: p8fxs.com from 2020, z6fxs.com from late 2020 and 9pfx.com from 2021, reaching clients through LINE.
  • Clients report their balances were wiped out by fabricated price candles and that withdrawals were refused.
  • All three websites are now dead and the domains have been dropped.
  • The UK FCA and Cyprus CySEC both warn that the IC Markets name is widely misused by unauthorised clone sites.

Each area is scored 0 (clean) to 10 (worst). Higher means more risk.

Worst area: Critical
SeverityLowModerateHighCritical

Regulation

9/10 · Critical

No licence of its own; it wore the genuine IC Markets' ASIC, CySEC and Seychelles credentials, which belong to another company.

Identity & transparency

9/10 · Critical

Hides a Chinese operator behind a famous broker's identity; no real legal entity, address or ownership disclosed.

Withdrawals & conduct

6/10 · High

Fund-loss reports (accounts zeroed, withdrawals refused) are consistent but, with the operation defunct, could not be enumerated case by case for these exact domains.

Reputation

8/10 · Critical

Uniformly identified as a fake IC Markets across fraud-alert coverage; no positive user base; part of a widely warned-about clone pattern.

Website claims

9/10 · Critical

The whole site was a false claim: it presented itself as the licensed IC Markets while being unrelated to it.

Operational history

8/10 · Critical

A short-lived clone that rotated through three domains in under a year and is now defunct; the long history it implied belongs to the genuine firm.

Who they are

A quick desk file on the company behind the brand.

  • Brand: IC Markets, an impersonation of the genuine broker, shown on 9pfx.com and its sister sites.
  • Legal entity: None disclosed or verifiable. The operation posed as the genuine IC Markets group (International Capital Markets Pty Ltd and Raw Trading Ltd), which it is not.
  • Based: The operator appears to be in China (Chinese-language sites, Beijing hosting) and targeted traders in Taiwan.
  • Websites: 9pfx.com, p8fxs.com and z6fxs.com, all now offline and de-registered.
  • Only licence: None of its own. It displayed the genuine IC Markets' regulatory identity (ASIC, CySEC and Seychelles FSA).
  • Offers: Retail forex and CFD trading, with order-taking and support handled over LINE.
  • Not accepted / status: The sites no longer load; the operation is defunct.
  • Age claim: It traded on IC Markets' history (the genuine firm dates to 2007), while its own domains only appeared in 2020 and 2021.
The genuine IC Markets (now IC) regulation page: its licensed entities and official domains, none of which is 9pfx.com.

Licences the broker publishes

ASIC (Australia)

UnverifiedTier 1
The genuine IC Markets holds ASIC licence AFSL 335692 through International Capital Markets Pty Ltd. This operation is not that company and holds no ASIC licence; it displayed the IC Markets identity.
Protection: Strong for the genuine firm; none for this clone

CySEC (Cyprus)

UnverifiedTier 2
The genuine IC Markets (EU) Ltd holds CySEC licence 362/18. Fake IC Markets sites copy this credential. This operation is not that entity and holds no CySEC licence.
Protection: Moderate for the genuine firm; none for this clone

FSA Seychelles

UnverifiedTier 3
The genuine Raw Trading Ltd holds Seychelles FSA Securities Dealer licence SD018. Fake IC Markets sites copy this credential. This operation is not that entity and holds no such licence.
Protection: Weak even for the genuine firm; none for this clone

Why we reached this verdict

How the evidence adds up.

This is a clone of a real, regulated broker, and every strand of evidence points the same way.

  • It is not the real IC Markets. The genuine firm operates only ic.com and icmarkets.com and their regional versions, and is regulated by ASIC (AFSL 335692), CySEC (362/18) and the Seychelles FSA (SD018). The domains here have no link to those entities.
  • Domain rotation. Certificate records show one operator moving through p8fxs.com (2020), z6fxs.com (2020) and 9pfx.com (2021) with identical content. Burning through look-alike domains is a hallmark of a scam, not a real broker.
  • Money did not come back. Traders report that balances were zeroed out by fabricated price candles and charts forced to one-minute intervals, and that withdrawals were refused.
  • The brand is a known target. The UK FCA and Cyprus CySEC both warn that fraudsters copy the IC Markets name, licence numbers and company details onto unrelated websites.
  • It has vanished. All three domains are deleted and resolve to nothing, and the last archived page shows the site had already gone dark by early 2022, the pattern of a hit-and-run operation.

We assess the risk of fraud as high. We place it just below the very top of our scale only because the sites shut down and no longer load for anyone, and no regulator notice names these exact domains, but the identity theft of a licensed broker is not in doubt.

Note on operating history: the 6.3-year track record rests on domain registration alone. No company incorporation date could be established, so this is an upper bound rather than a confirmed age.

Evidence ledger

Every finding, with its source and how strongly it points.

  • E1All three anchor domains (9pfx.com, p8fxs.com, z6fxs.com) return NXDOMAIN and the .com registry no longer holds them, so the operation is defunct.

    ModerateGoogle Public DNS
  • E2Certificate logs date the domains in sequence (p8fxs.com June 2020, z6fxs.com November 2020, 9pfx.com April 2021), consistent with one operator rotating look-alike sites with identical content.

    Strongcrt.sh certificate transparency
  • E3The genuine IC Markets operates only ic.com and icmarkets.com and their regional versions and is regulated through Raw Trading Ltd (Seychelles FSA SD018) and IC Markets (EU) Ltd (CySEC 362/18); none of the anchor domains belong to it.

The other side

The strongest case in this broker’s favour.

Before reaching this view we looked for an innocent explanation.

  • Is it a regional branch of the real IC Markets? No. The genuine group publishes its official domains and entities, uses only ic.com and icmarkets.com and their country versions, and openly warns about clones. A Chinese-language site on 9pfx.com taking orders over LINE is not one of its entities.
  • Is it a rebrand of a licensed firm? No transfer or continuity to any genuine IC Markets entity exists. The domains are unrelated to the licensed companies.
  • Could a licence simply be new or missing from a register? No. The operation held no licence of its own in any register; it borrowed the genuine firm's identity.
  • Is this a name mix-up with a different company? No. Multiple independent sources tie these exact three domains together as one fake IC Markets operation.

In fairness, the sites are now dead, so no one is being harmed through them today, and we found no regulator notice naming these precise domains.

What would change this

What we would need to see to revise the verdict.

The verdict would move if any of the following turned out to be true.

  • Evidence that 9pfx.com, p8fxs.com or z6fxs.com was in fact an authorised domain of the genuine IC Markets group, listed by the firm or on a regulator's register.
  • Proof that the reported account wipe-outs and refused withdrawals were mistakes or belonged to a different platform.
  • Any showing that the three domains were unrelated operations rather than one rotating scam.

None of these appear in the record, so the assessment stands.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this broker’s safety.

13 questions
Is 9pfx.com IC Markets a scam?

Yes. It is a clone that impersonated the licensed broker IC Markets to take deposits from traders in Taiwan and China. The site is now offline and the domain has been dropped.

Is 9pfx.com the real IC Markets?

No. The genuine IC Markets uses ic.com and icmarkets.com and regional versions like icmarkets.eu and icmarkets.sc. The domains 9pfx.com, p8fxs.com and z6fxs.com are not connected to it.

Is this broker a fraud?

We do not have a court ruling, so we cannot state that as a fact. But it copied a licensed firm's name and licences and clients report losing their money, so we assess the risk of fraud as high.

Is it regulated?

No. It held no licence of its own. It displayed the genuine IC Markets' ASIC, CySEC and Seychelles credentials, which belong to a different company.

Can I withdraw my money from 9pfx.com?

The sites are dead, so there is nothing to withdraw from now. While they ran, users reported that withdrawals were refused and balances were wiped out.

Is my money safe with it?

No. There is no regulator behind it, no compensation scheme and no verifiable company. Money sent to a platform like this is usually gone.

Who is behind it?

The operator is not disclosed. The sites were in Chinese, hosted in Beijing and aimed at Taiwan, and hid behind the IC Markets name.

How old is it?

Its domains first appeared in 2020 and 2021. It traded on IC Markets' much longer history, which is not its own.

What are 9pfx.com, p8fxs.com and z6fxs.com?

Three near-identical websites run in sequence by the same operator as one fake IC Markets. All are now deleted.

Is it a clone?

Yes. It copied the name and regulatory details of the real, ASIC-regulated IC Markets, which is the classic clone pattern.

What did the FCA say about IC Markets clones?

The UK FCA warns that fraudsters impersonate IC Markets on unrelated websites, and that dealing with a clone means no access to the UK ombudsman or the compensation scheme.

What should I check before depositing with any broker?

Confirm the exact web address and licence number on the regulator's own register, and be wary when sales or deposits are handled through LINE, WhatsApp or Telegram.

What do I do if I was scammed by this platform?

Save all records, ask your bank or card issuer about a chargeback, and report it to your local police and financial regulator.

Our advice

Treat this as an unauthorised clone of IC Markets and keep it flagged.

  • Keep the broker marked as a suspicious clone and show a warning that names IC Markets as the impersonated firm.
  • Make clear that the genuine IC Markets is a separate, licensed company at ic.com and icmarkets.com and is not connected to these sites.
  • Note that the operation is defunct: 9pfx.com, p8fxs.com and z6fxs.com no longer load and the domains have been dropped.
  • Warn readers that if any of these addresses returns, or a near-identical site appears, it should be treated as fraud and avoided.
  • Anyone who deposited should contact their bank or card provider about a chargeback, keep all records, and report the matter to their local police or financial regulator.
