Most Popular Questions

Yes for retail clients, on forex, CFDs and options. Clause 16.9 of AvaTrade's EU terms says losses on those products can never exceed the account's equity, while futures trading can lose more than the amount deposited. AvaTrade's professional trading page says clients who take professional status give up negative balance protection, although clause 16.9 itself makes no distinction between retail and professional clients.

Two business days. Under clause 18.6 of AvaTrade's EU terms, order confirmations and account statements posted online become correct, conclusive and binding unless the client objects within two business days of posting, and clause 18.3 treats them as received once they are made available, whether or not the client opens them. An objection can first be raised by email or phone but must then be confirmed in writing (clause 18.7).

AvaTrade's own pages disagree. Its homepage says hedging is allowed, without any restrictions on short selling and scalping, while clause 23.1.2 of its EU terms says AvaTrade does not recognise arbitrage or scalping as a permitted practice on its OTC products, where clients trade directly with it as market maker. Clause 23.1.4 lets it cancel trades or profits where it suspects hedging across accounts held with AvaTrade or other brokers, and clause 23.2.4 lets it cancel any profit or loss without giving a reason where it suspects a breach of its market abuse rules.

WIKILIX found nine AvaTrade group licences on the regulators' own registers on 22 October 2026: the Central Bank of Ireland (AVA Trade EU Limited, C53877), ASIC (AVA Capital Markets Australia Pty Ltd, 406684), Japan's Financial Services Agency (Ava Trade Japan K.K., No. 1662), the ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority (Ava Trade Middle East Limited, 190018), South Africa's FSCA (Ava Capital Markets (Pty) Ltd, 45984), Kenya's Capital Markets Authority (Ava Trade Kenya Limited, 262), the Israel Securities Authority (ATRADE LTD), CySEC (DT Direct Investment Hub Ltd, 347/17) and the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (Ava Trade Markets Ltd). Several are narrow: the South African and Kenyan companies are intermediaries that do not deal with clients themselves, the CySEC licence covers only DupliTrade, and the BVI register lists Ava Trade Markets Ltd without printing the number SIBA/L/13/1049 that AvaTrade gives. The protection a client gets depends on the company that holds the account.

AvaTrade offers CFDs on forex, shares, commodities, stock indices and cryptocurrencies, with 53 forex pairs and 22 cryptocurrencies in its range. FX options are traded separately on the AvaOptions platform, on more than 40 currency pairs and gold according to the platform page, or over 50 pairs plus gold and silver according to the help centre.

AvaTrade asks clients to contact customer services first and then to send a formal complaint on its Complaint Form to complaints@avatrade.com. Under clause 15 of its EU terms it sends written updates at least every 20 business days and aims to resolve a complaint within 40 business days, after which clients of AVA Trade EU Ltd can take it to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman in Ireland.

Yes. AvaTrade offers AvaSocial, a copy trading app for iOS and Android that its site says is built with Pelican Trading, and DupliTrade, which needs at least 2,000 USD on an MT4 account or 500 USD on MT5. DupliTrade is run by group company DT Direct Investment Hub Ltd, whose CySEC licence 347/17 WIKILIX found on the CySEC register on 22 October 2026; it covers reception and transmission of orders, portfolio management and investment advice, not AvaTrade's own CFD dealing. Clause 24.11 of AvaTrade's EU terms lets it treat trades placed by clients using the same signal, expert advisor or copy trading service as a single trade and adjust their spreads and account balances, including on past transactions.

Yes. AvaTrade's demo account comes with a virtual balance of 10,000 in USD, EUR or GBP. The broker describes its length in two ways: its trading platforms page calls it an unlimited demo with no time limit, while a help centre article gives a 60-day duration that can be extended on request.

Yes. AvaTrade's Islamic Account can be requested once the account is verified and funded and is usually processed within 1 to 2 business days. Positions can stay open for up to 5 days without the overnight fee and may be charged after that, forex spreads are wider, and MT4 crypto trading and ZAR, TRY, RUB and MXN pairs are not available on it. The broker's Islamic page says the account carries no special fees or interest, yet also says MT4 and MT5 forex swaps are converted into daily administration fees.

AvaTrade lists no separate trading commission and says it is paid through the bid/ask spread, although clause 17.5 of its EU terms allows a commission under a specific fee structure. The same terms let it widen spreads at its discretion, with or without notice (clause 17.3), and charge wider spreads to clients referred by an affiliate or introducing broker, passing the difference to that referrer (clause 17.4). Positions held overnight pay an overnight premium, and an account unused for 3 months is charged 50 USD, EUR or GBP, again for every further 3 months, plus an administration fee of 100 after 12 months without use (clause 40). AvaTrade publishes no deposit or withdrawal fee of its own and covers bank fees on wire withdrawals up to 100 USD, EUR or GBP.

AvaTrade processes withdrawal requests from fully verified accounts within 24 to 48 hours according to its funding page, or within one business day according to its help centre. After processing, the money can take up to 5 business days to reach a card, up to 1 day to reach an e-wallet and up to 10 business days by bank wire. These are not contractual deadlines: clause 42.1.2 of AvaTrade's EU terms says withdrawals may take longer than expected, and clause 42.1.1 makes any documents AvaTrade requests a condition of paying out. Card deposits are returned to the card first.

AvaTrade accepts credit and debit cards (not for clients in Canada) and international bank wire, plus e-payments such as Skrill, Neteller and WebMoney for clients outside the EU and Australia; its help centre also names PayPal for some countries, and Boleto and Qiwi where PayPal is not offered. The minimum first deposit is 100 in the account's base currency. Card deposits are credited instantly, though a first card deposit can take up to one business day, and e-payments within 24 hours, while the broker's pages give wire deposit times of up to 5, 7 or 10 business days.

It depends on where the client lives. Clients under AvaTrade's EU terms contract with AVA Trade EU Limited. Its GLEIF LEI record (registration authority: Ireland's Companies Registration Office) shows it as company 460012, incorporated on 15 July 2008, with its registered office at Dockline, Mayor Street Lower, IFSC, Dublin 1. Most clients outside the EU, Australia, Japan and the UAE deal with Ava Trade Markets Ltd in the British Virgin Islands, other group companies serve Australia, Japan, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Kenya and Israel, and Canadian accounts are opened and held by Friedberg Direct.

Yes. AvaTrade's help centre lists 25 countries and territories it does not accept clients from, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, New Zealand, Russia, India, Iran and North Korea, and applicants from the United Kingdom are referred to a UK partner, Intertrader. The avatrade.com sign-up form does not offer Canada, Israel or Japan, which have their own sites, and accounts on the Canadian site avatrade.ca are opened with Friedberg Direct, a division of Friedberg Mercantile Group Ltd. that the site says the AvaTrade Group does not own or control.

AvaTrade can be reached by live chat, by phone on 37 regional numbers listed on its contact page, by WhatsApp on +44 7520 644093 and through the ticket form in its help centre. The help centre gives Client Services hours of Monday to Friday, 05:00 to 21:00 GMT on the English desk and 06:00 to 15:00 GMT for native speakers of Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese and German, while the contact page is titled Contact Your Broker 24/5. The only email address the broker publishes is complaints@avatrade.com.

For retail clients of AvaTrade's EU company, leverage is capped at 30:1 on major currency pairs, 20:1 on other pairs, gold and major indices, 10:1 on other commodities and indices, 5:1 on shares and 2:1 on cryptocurrencies. Clients accepted as professional, on MT5 only, can trade at up to 400:1 on forex and 25:1 on certain cryptocurrencies, without negative balance protection. The broker's Mac trading page quotes up to 400:1 on MT4 without saying that this applies only to professional clients.

The minimum first deposit is 100 in the account's base currency: 100 USD, 100 EUR, 100 AUD for Australian clients, or 100 GBP, which the funding page reserves for UK clients although the help centre lists the United Kingdom among the countries AvaTrade does not accept. The same minimum applies by card, bank wire or e-wallet, and the help centre recommends starting with 1,000 to 2,000. DupliTrade copy trading needs more: at least 2,000 USD on MT4 or 500 USD on MT5.

AvaTrade offers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web and mobile, plus its own WebTrader and AvaTrade App. It also runs AvaOptions for FX options and two copy trading services, the AvaSocial app and DupliTrade. Professional client status is only available on MT5 accounts.

Yes. AVA Trade EU Limited is entered on the Central Bank of Ireland register under reference C53877 as an Investment Firm - MiFID, authorised since 9 July 2009. The register showed no revocation date on 22 October 2026. The authorisation covers executing client orders and dealing on own account, with CFDs and other derivatives among its instruments, and the register shows the firm serving 28 other countries cross-border. It applies to the Irish company only: AvaTrade clients outside the EU usually deal with other group companies under other regulators.
