Is Axen Capital a scam?

Confirmed scamHIGH confidence
Updated August 29, 2026
Unlicensed broker, withdrawal and advance-fee scam

Yes, Axen Broker (Axen Capital) has all the marks of an unregulated trading scam, and Mexico's financial regulator has already fined the operator for acting as a brokerage without authorization.

  • It advertises a UAE 'SCA' licence numbered LIC-0008119. We searched the UAE regulator's own public register by name and by number and found no such licence.
  • Its 'VARA' claim is really just a Dubai free-zone company registration (DMCC-933489) plus a claimed 'pre-approval'. That is not a licence to run a broker.
  • Mexico's CNBV sanctioned Axen Capital, including a fine of about 1,085,700 pesos, for using brokerage-house wording without authorization.
  • Many users report the same pattern: withdrawals blocked, only part of the money returned, and demands to pay 'taxes' or 'fees' before funds are released. The money is not returned.
  • The registered address is an offshore shell in Saint Vincent, while the group is run from Mexico. No client protection exists.

Risk scorecard

Each area is scored 0 (clean) to 10 (worst). Higher means more risk.

Worst area: Critical
SeverityLowModerateHighCritical

Regulation

10/10 · Critical

No verifiable licence. Claimed UAE SCA number is not on the register, 'VARA' is a company registration not a licence, and a real regulator (CNBV) sanctioned the operator.

Identity & transparency

9/10 · Critical

Identity scattered across Saint Vincent shell address, UAE entities, an Anjouan entity and a Mexican group; no verifiable licence holder and no named accountable leadership.

Withdrawals & conduct

9/10 · Critical

Consistent fund-integrity complaints across multiple platforms: withdrawals blocked or partial and advance-fee demands to release funds. Advance-fee mechanic is present.

Reputation

9/10 · Critical

Overwhelmingly negative coverage across independent review sources plus a government regulator sanction. Widely flagged as a scam.

Website claims

10/10 · Critical

Outright false regulatory claims: a UAE SCA licence that does not exist and a VARA claim that is really a company registration, alongside high-return AxenCoin promotion.

Operational history

4/10 · Moderate

Operating since about 2019 as a group and 2021 as the broker, so age is verified; but the history is one of sanctions and a rebrand toward offshore shells.

Who they are

A quick desk file on the company behind the brand.

  • Brand: Axen Broker, part of Grupo Axen Capital
  • Legal entity: AXEN TRADING CURRENCIES IN SPOT MARKET LLC (claimed forex arm) and AXEN LIFE DMCC (claimed crypto arm); parent brand Grupo Axen Capital, Mexico
  • Registered: Suite 305, Griffith Corporate Center, Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (a well-known offshore shell address)
  • Website: axenbroker.com, client portal my.axenbroker.com, group site axencapital.com
  • Only 'licence': none that we could verify. A UAE SCA number that is not on the register, a Dubai company registration presented as VARA regulation, and an Anjouan offshore registration surfaced under a related entity name
  • Offers: forex and CFDs, an in-house 'Axen Exchange', crypto (AxenCoin), MetaTrader and cTrader branding
  • Not accepted: US, Canada, Japan, Australia, Russia, Turkey and others per the site's own list
  • Age claim: no explicit 'since' year on the site; the group domain dates to 2019 and the broker domain to 2021

Regulation

Who really oversees this broker, and what each licence is worth to you.

No proof found

Proof of regulation on an official register: No

We could not confirm this broker on any genuine regulator’s register.

Licences the broker publishes

SCA (UAE Securities and Commodities Authority, now Capital Market Authority)

UnverifiedTier 2 (claimed, not held)
The site claims licence LIC-0008119 for AXEN TRADING CURRENCIES IN SPOT MARKET LLC. We searched the UAE regulator's own register by name and by number and found no such licence. It does not appear to exist.
Protection: None. Licence not found on the regulator's register.Official register

VARA (Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, Dubai)

UnverifiedNot a forex licence
The site presents a Dubai DMCC company registration (DMCC-933489) plus a claimed VARA 'pre-approval' for AXEN LIFE DMCC. A DMCC free-zone registration is company paperwork, not a VARA licence, and a pre-approval is not a licence. VARA's licensed providers are named exchanges and custodians, and Axen is not among them.
Protection: None. No held VARA licence and no cover for forex or CFD trading.
Found by our investigation (1) — the broker does not list these on its own site

AOFA (Anjouan Offshore Finance Authority)

Found by us — not listed by the broker

UnverifiedTier 4 / not genuine regulation
Third-party company records list a related entity, AXEN GROUP LTD, as registered in Anjouan (Comoros). An Anjouan registration is an offshore company registration, not genuine forex supervision, and gives clients no meaningful protection. It is not published on the broker's own site.
Protection: None. Offshore registration, not financial supervision.

Why we reached this verdict

How the evidence adds up.

Two independent, high-weight findings put this beyond doubt, and several more support it.

  • A real regulator has already acted. Mexico's CNBV sanctioned Axen Capital for using brokerage-house expressions without authorization (a fine of about 1,085,700 pesos, unpaid), plus an earlier 179,240-peso fine for unauthorized investment-fund activity. That is a government finding of illegal financial activity by this operator.
  • The headline licence does not exist. The site states it holds UAE SCA licence LIC-0008119. We searched the UAE Capital Market Authority (formerly SCA) public register by the name 'Axen' and by the number LIC-0008119. Both returned 'No Results'.
  • Clients report the advance-fee trap. Across several independent Spanish-language complaint sources, users describe blocked withdrawals, receiving only a third of their balance, and being told to pay 'taxes', 'fees' or 'legalization' costs before release. The money is then not returned. A demand for extra payment to release funds is the classic advance-fee mechanic.
  • The 'VARA' claim is dressed-up registration. The broker cites DMCC-933489 and a 'pre-approval'. DMCC registration is a free-zone company registration, not a VARA licence, and Axen is not among VARA's licensed providers.
  • The structure is incoherent by design. An offshore shell address in Saint Vincent, UAE regulator claims, and governing law set to Michoacan, Mexico. Legitimate brokers do not scatter their identity across three unrelated jurisdictions like this.

The displayed 90 reflects the two independent hard findings (a regulator sanction and a confirmed advance-fee pattern), which sit above the evidence-weighted score of roughly 88.

Note on operating history: the 7.3-year track record rests on domain registration alone. No company incorporation date could be established, so this is an upper bound rather than a confirmed age.

Hard proofEstafado.com user review and comments
  • E4The broker's own Security of Funds and Terms pages present a Dubai DMCC company registration (DMCC-933489) plus a VARA 'pre-approval' as regulation, and cite SCA licence LIC-0008119. A free-zone registration and a pre-approval are not trading licences.

    StrongAxen Broker security-of-funds page
  • E5The group site axencapital.com now shows a 'Grupo Axen Capital' maintenance page that explicitly lists 'AXEN Broker' and 'AXEN Life' as its business units, tying axenbroker.com to the Mexican group that carries the CNBV sanctions and withdrawal complaints.

    Strongaxencapital.com (Grupo Axen Capital)
  • E6The site combines an offshore shell address in Saint Vincent (Griffith Corporate Center), claimed UAE regulators, and governing law set to Michoacan, Mexico. This three-jurisdiction structure is a deliberate obfuscation, not a coherent regulated setup.

    ModerateAxen Broker terms and footer
  • E7Domain registration dates: axenbroker.com registered 2021-12-22 (own nameservers axentechnology.com), and the group domain axencapital.com registered 2019-05-13. The operation is several years old.

    WeakRDAP (Verisign)
  • E8The group promoted 'AxenCoin', a cryptocurrency marketed with high-return promises, part of the same operation that the CNBV sanctioned. High guaranteed-return marketing is a recognized scam indicator.

The other side

The strongest case in this broker’s favour.

In fairness, we looked for innocent explanations before concluding.

  • The operator is not brand new. The group domain axencapital.com dates to 2019 and axenbroker.com to 2021, so this is not a fly-by-night site launched last month.
  • A related entity, AXEN GROUP LTD, does appear in third-party company records under an Anjouan (Comoros) registration, so some corporate paperwork exists.
  • The group holds a local 'Hecho en Mexico' mark and runs active social accounts, which a pure throwaway scam often does not bother with.

None of this rescues it. Longevity here is a history of regulatory sanctions, not of trust. An Anjouan registration is not financial supervision and gives clients no protection. And company paperwork does not answer the core problem: the trading licences it advertises cannot be verified, and clients report they cannot get their money back.

What would change this

What we would need to see to revise the verdict.

We would revisit this verdict if the facts changed in specific, checkable ways.

  • The UAE regulator's public register showing licence LIC-0008119 issued to this exact entity, active and in force.
  • A genuine VARA licence number (not a DMCC registration or a 'pre-approval') listed for Axen on VARA's own register.
  • The CNBV sanctions being overturned, and the operator holding a real licence from a recognized regulator in the countries it solicits.
  • A consistent record of clients withdrawing funds in full, with the advance-fee demands disappearing from complaint reports.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this broker’s safety.

12 questions
Is Axen Broker (Axen Capital) a scam?

The evidence points to yes. It advertises licences that do not verify, Mexico's CNBV has fined the operator for unauthorized activity, and users report blocked withdrawals and demands to pay fees before release. We rate it a confirmed scam.

Is Axen Broker regulated?

No verifiable regulation. Its claimed UAE SCA licence LIC-0008119 is not on the regulator's register, its 'VARA' claim is only a Dubai company registration plus a 'pre-approval', and its registered address is an offshore shell in Saint Vincent.

Can I withdraw my money from Axen?

Many users report they cannot. Complaints describe withdrawals blocked or paid only in part, followed by demands to pay 'taxes' or 'fees' first. After paying, the money is still not returned.

Is my money safe with Axen?

No. There is no recognized regulator standing behind it and no investor compensation scheme. Funds sent to an unregulated offshore operator are at high risk of loss.

They asked me to pay a tax or fee to withdraw. Should I?

No. A legitimate broker never requires an upfront payment to release your own funds. This request is a known advance-fee tactic. Do not pay it.

Who owns Axen Broker?

It operates as a unit of Grupo Axen Capital, a Mexico-based group. The site names offshore entities AXEN TRADING CURRENCIES IN SPOT MARKET LLC and AXEN LIFE DMCC, but no verifiable regulated owner.

How old is Axen Broker?

The group domain axencapital.com was registered in 2019 and the broker domain axenbroker.com in 2021. So it has operated for several years, but that history includes regulatory sanctions.

What is the VARA or DMCC licence worth?

The DMCC number is a Dubai free-zone company registration, not a financial licence, and a VARA 'pre-approval' is not a VARA licence. Neither authorizes running a forex broker or protects your deposit.

Did a regulator take action against Axen?

Yes. Mexico's CNBV sanctioned Axen Capital, including a fine of about 1,085,700 pesos for using brokerage-house wording without authorization, and an earlier fine for unauthorized investment-fund activity.

Is Axen Broker a clone of another company?

No. It uses its own brand rather than impersonating a specific regulated firm. The problem is fabricated or overstated licences and a withdrawal-scam pattern, not identity theft of another broker.

What should I do if I was scammed by Axen?

Stop depositing, request a full withdrawal in writing, keep all records, ask your bank about a chargeback or transfer recall, and report to Mexico's CNBV and your local regulator.

What should I check before depositing with any broker?

Confirm the licence number directly on the regulator's own public register, check that the licensed entity and website match, and search for withdrawal complaints. If any step fails, do not deposit.

What we recommend

The practical takeaway from everything above.

Our advice

Treat Axen Broker as unsafe and do not deposit.

  • Do not send money, and do not pay any 'tax', 'fee' or 'unlock' charge to release a withdrawal. That request is itself part of the scam.
  • If you already deposited, stop adding funds, request a full withdrawal in writing, and keep every record (screenshots, receipts, chat logs).
  • If you paid by card or bank transfer, contact your bank about a chargeback or recall as soon as possible.
  • Report the operator to Mexico's CNBV and to the regulator in your own country.
  • Publish a clear scam warning and delist the broker.
