Independent safety report

Is Axi a scam?

High risk (unverified)MEDIUM confidence
Unlicensed offshore arm of a regulated group

No, Axi is not a scam and we found no evidence of fraud, but its international site is run by an unlicensed St Vincent firm that two regulators have acted against.

  • The Axi group holds current licences from the FCA (UK, FRN 466201), ASIC (Australia, AFSL 318232), CySEC (EU, 433/23), New Zealand's FMA and the DFSA in Dubai. Each one appears on the regulator's own register.
  • Clients of axi.com/int sign with AxiTrader LLC (St Vincent and the Grenadines, 4303 LLC 2025). That company holds no financial licence and offers none of those protections.
  • Italy's CONSOB ordered an end to unauthorised investment services through axi.com on 2 July 2026. The Securities Commission Malaysia has listed AxiTrader at axi.com/int for unlicensed dealing since August 2024.
  • Most of the 8,159 Trustpilot reviews are positive (4.1). A recurring group of clients reports withdrawals held for weeks while Axi asks for more documents.
  • We rate the risk at 47%. The drivers are the unlicensed international company, the two regulator actions, the withdrawal complaints and past licence suspensions in Australia and New Zealand, which were later lifted.

Regulation

7/10 · High

Group licences from the FCA, ASIC, CySEC, FMA and DFSA are real and current, but the company that signs international clients has none, and CONSOB and SC Malaysia have acted against axi.com.

Identity & transparency

2/10 · Low

Entities, numbers and addresses are disclosed and match the FCA, ASIC, CySEC and company registries, and the UK directors are Axi's named executives.

Withdrawals & conduct

6/10 · High

Recurring, specific reports of withdrawals held for weeks under document review and some frozen accounts, set against many positive payout reviews and public replies from Axi.

Reputation

5/10 · Moderate

Trustpilot 4.1 from 8,159 reviews, offset by two regulator actions on the international site and past licence suspensions in Australia and New Zealand.

Website claims

The footer honestly names the unlicensed St Vincent company; group licences appear as company history, and many awards come from industry sponsors.

Operational history

2/10 · Low

Verified since 2007: ASIC company registration in September 2007, licence from December 2007, and axitrader.com registered in 2010.

Why we reached this verdict

How the evidence adds up.

Axi is a real, long-running broker group, so this is not a scam finding. We rate it high risk for three reasons. The company that signs up international clients has no financial licence. Two regulators have acted against its site. The withdrawal complaints follow a repeated pattern.

  • The group licences are genuine. The FCA register lists Axi Financial Services (UK) Limited, FRN 466201, as authorised, with website axi.com/uk. ASIC lists AFSL 318232 as current since 21 December 2007, with website axi.com/au. CySEC lists Solaris EMEA Limited, licence 433/23, with approved domain axi-solaris.com/eu. New Zealand's register shows an FMA derivatives issuer licence, and the DFSA lists the Dubai branch.
  • The international company is not licensed. The footer of axi.com/int names AxiTrader LLC, a St Vincent company formed in 2025, and calls it registered, not regulated. Its clients get none of the UK, EU or Australian protections.
  • Italy ordered it to stop. CONSOB resolution 24070 of 2 July 2026 orders an end to unauthorised investment services offered to Italians through www.axi.com, auth.app.axitp.com, clientportal.axi.com and help.axi.com. CONSOB noted that the site was in Italian and did not block Italian users. It also recorded complaints from Italian savers who said they could not get their money back.
  • Malaysia lists it. The Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List names AxiTrader at axi.com/int for unlicensed dealing in securities. The entry was published on 8 August 2024.
  • Withdrawal complaints repeat. On Trustpilot and BrokersView, clients describe withdrawals held for weeks under review, repeated document requests and frozen accounts. One client reports profits reversed. Many of these reports give amounts and account numbers. Axi replies to nearly all negative reviews, and many clients report fast payouts.
  • Past suspensions. ASIC suspended AxiCorp's licence on 2 January 2020 over client money and reporting failures. The suspension was stayed and never took effect, and ASIC withdrew it in February 2021 after licence conditions were agreed. New Zealand's FMA suspended AxiCorp's licence from 29 July 2019 to 2 December 2021.
  • Why it is not rated higher. We found no fake licence, no copying of another firm's identity and no demand for extra payment to release funds. Its history is verified back to 2007. No regulator has found that Axi took client money. The actions concern selling without a local licence and past compliance failures.

  • E15One-star reviews from Jun to Oct 2026 describe withdrawals held for weeks under review with repeated document requests, an account frozen for a month, and accounts closed with the balance debited. One client reports profits reversed on a CySEC account (MT4 6731814).

  • E16A complaint filed on 18 Dec 2025 against AxiTrader Limited describes USD 20,941.64 deposited on 18 Nov 2025 and a withdrawal requested on 23 Nov that was returned to the account. Axi then demanded bank statements, proof of income and biometric checks; the case was unresolved when filed.

  • E17A USD 5,511 withdrawal requested on 3 Oct 2025 was still unpaid after 17 days, according to an article that also cites an earlier case of repeated document demands. The article identifies the broker by brand name only.

  • E18ASIC suspended AxiCorp's AFS licence on 2 Jan 2020. The reasons given were failing to pay client money into an account with an Australian bank, failing to lodge PDS in-use notices, and breaching the derivative transaction rules and the client money reporting rules. ASIC also cited late financial statements. The AAT stayed the suspension.

  • E19ASIC withdrew the proposed suspension on 15 Feb 2021 after licence conditions were agreed. The suspension never took effect, and clients were served throughout.

  • E20The FMA suspended AxiCorp's New Zealand derivatives issuer licence from 29 Jul 2019. The reasons were offering to retail clients without a compliant PDS, missing deadlines for audited accounts and assurance, and failing to notify a key staff change.

  • E21The FMA lifted the suspension effective 2 Dec 2021 after AxiCorp showed it had adequate systems, processes and resources.

  • E22The FCA entry for the UK firm flags two clones: AXI Corp Limited (added 2 Feb 2023) and One Financial Market (added 3 Jul 2024). These impersonate Axi; they are not Axi.

  • E23A fake Axi on axindes.icu demanded processing fees, taxes and a 49% insurance fee before releasing funds. This is a clone using Axi's name, not axi.com.

  • E24The FCA warning about AXI TRADING (axitrading.biz, High Wycombe address, 2 Mar 2023) concerns an unrelated unauthorised firm, not Axi.

  • E25axitrader.com was registered on 5 Mar 2010 and now permanently redirects to axi.com, showing continuity from the AxiTrader brand.

  • E26The Financial Commission announced on 1 Oct 2020 that AxiTrader had completed its rebrand to Axi, quoting chief executive Rajesh Yohannan.

The other side

The strongest case in this broker’s favour.

The strongest case for Axi is that it is a mainstream broker with several top-tier licences, and its offshore arm follows a structure many large brokers use.

  • Its UK, EU, Australian, New Zealand and Dubai companies appear on the official registers with matching websites, addresses and directors.
  • The axi.com/int footer says plainly that AxiTrader LLC is a St Vincent company, and it does not claim a licence for it.
  • At the time of writing, European visitors to axi.com are sent to the CySEC-licensed site axi-solaris.com/eu. CySEC lists that firm as passported into Italy and other EU states.
  • The Australian and New Zealand suspensions were lifted, and both licences are current today.
  • Document checks before withdrawals are standard anti-money-laundering practice, and Axi replies to 99% of negative Trustpilot reviews.
  • The worst stories online, about demands for taxes or insurance fees before a withdrawal, come from fake Axi sites such as axindes.icu, not from Axi.

What would change this

What we would need to see to revise the verdict.

These developments would move the rating.

  • Lower risk: international clients moved to a licensed Axi company, or AxiTrader LLC obtaining a real financial licence.
  • Lower risk: CONSOB and the Securities Commission Malaysia lifting their notices.
  • Lower risk: the withdrawal-hold complaints fading while review volume stays high.
  • Higher risk: a regulator suspending or cancelling one of the group's current licences.
  • Higher risk: withdrawals refused outright, or a genuine Axi channel asking for extra payment to release funds.
  • Higher risk: more regulator warnings naming axi.com.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this broker’s safety.

15 questions
Is Axi a scam?

No. Axi is a real broker group with current licences from the FCA, ASIC, CySEC, New Zealand's FMA and the DFSA. The risk sits with its international site, axi.com/int, which is run by AxiTrader LLC, an unlicensed St Vincent company that regulators in Italy and Malaysia have acted against. We rate the overall risk at 47%.

Is Axi a fraud?

No, we found no evidence of fraud by Axi. The regulator actions on record concern selling without a local licence in Italy and Malaysia, and past compliance failures in Australia and New Zealand. Fake websites using the Axi name have demanded fees before withdrawals, but those are clones, not Axi.

Is Axi regulated?

Partly. Axi Financial Services (UK) Limited is authorised by the FCA (FRN 466201). AxiCorp Financial Services Pty Ltd holds ASIC AFSL 318232 and a New Zealand derivatives issuer licence, and its Dubai branch holds DFSA licence F003742. Solaris EMEA Limited holds CySEC licence 433/23. AxiTrader LLC, which serves international clients, holds no financial licence.

Which Axi company will hold my money?

It depends on where you live. UK clients deal with the FCA firm and EU clients with Solaris EMEA in Cyprus. Australian, New Zealand and UAE clients deal with AxiCorp Financial Services Pty Ltd, and clients elsewhere usually with AxiTrader LLC in St Vincent. Your client agreement names the company.

Why did CONSOB act against axi.com?

CONSOB resolution 24070 of 2 July 2026 found that AxiTrader LLC was offering investment services to Italians through www.axi.com and related pages without authorisation. It noted the site was in Italian, did not block Italian users, and that Italian savers had complained they could not get their money back. CONSOB ordered the violation to stop.

Is Axi on a regulator warning list?

Yes. The Securities Commission Malaysia lists AxiTrader at axi.com/int on its Investor Alert List for unlicensed dealing in securities, published 8 August 2024, and CONSOB has ordered an end to its services in Italy. The FCA notices that mention Axi concern clones copying Axi's UK details, not Axi itself.

Can I withdraw my money from Axi?

Most reviewers say yes, and many report payouts within a day or two. A recurring minority describe withdrawals held for weeks while Axi asks for more documents, and some describe frozen accounts. Test a small withdrawal early and keep your verification documents ready.

Is my money safe with Axi?

It depends on the company. The FCA, ASIC and CySEC firms work under client money rules and complaint schemes. Axi says its Dubai branch is not authorised to hold client money, and the UAE site points to the Australian company and its ASIC licence. With AxiTrader LLC there is no regulator and no compensation scheme, only The Financial Commission's dispute process.

Who owns Axi and how old is it?

Axi grew out of AxiCorp Financial Services Pty Ltd, registered in Australia on 18 September 2007 and licensed by ASIC from 21 December 2007. Chief executive Rajesh Yohannan is also a director of the UK company. The brand was called AxiTrader until October 2020.

Is AxiTrader the same as Axi?

Yes. AxiTrader rebranded to Axi in October 2020, and axitrader.com now redirects to axi.com. The international company still carries the name AxiTrader LLC.

Are there fake Axi websites?

Yes. The FCA warns that clones called AXI Corp Limited and One Financial Market have copied the details of Axi's UK firm. A fake Axi on axindes.icu demanded taxes and fees before withdrawals, and Malaysia's regulator lists smart2returns.com as a possible AxiTrader clone. Use only axi.com and the domains on the regulators' registers.

What does registration in St Vincent mean?

AxiTrader LLC is incorporated in St Vincent and the Grenadines and registered by its Financial Services Authority. That is a company registration, not a licence to run a brokerage. No regulator supervises its trading business, and there is no compensation scheme.

Has Axi ever had its licence suspended?

Yes, twice, and both suspensions were lifted. New Zealand's FMA suspended AxiCorp's derivatives licence from 29 July 2019 to 2 December 2021 over disclosure and audit breaches. ASIC suspended its Australian licence on 2 January 2020 over client money and reporting failures, but the suspension was stayed and ASIC withdrew it in February 2021 with extra conditions.

What should I check before depositing with Axi?

Confirm the company named in your client agreement and use the licensed site for your country. If you live in Italy or Malaysia, avoid the international entity. Start with a small deposit, test a withdrawal, and check the register links on this page yourself.

What should I do if Axi will not release my withdrawal?

Put the request in writing, keep ticket numbers and copies of messages, and send any documents requested. If it is still stuck, go to the dispute body in your agreement: the Financial Ombudsman Service for UK clients, or The Financial Commission for AxiTrader LLC clients. Never pay anyone who promises to recover your money for a fee.

What we recommend

The practical takeaway from everything above.

Our advice

Before you deposit, check which Axi company you would actually be dealing with.

  • Read the client agreement. If it names AxiTrader LLC, your account sits with an unlicensed St Vincent company, not with an FCA, ASIC or CySEC firm.
  • If you live in the UK, the EU, Australia, New Zealand or the UAE, open your account through the local licensed site: axi.com/uk, axi-solaris.com/eu, axi.com/au or axi.group/en-ae.
  • If you live in Italy or Malaysia, note that regulators there say the international site is not licensed to serve you.
  • Start small and test a withdrawal early. Have proof of identity, address and source of funds ready, because holds for documents are the most common complaint.
  • Use only axi.com and the domains on the regulators' registers. Anyone asking for a fee or tax to release your money is not Axi.
  • If a withdrawal is stuck, complain in writing and keep ticket numbers and copies of messages. Then take it to the dispute body named in your agreement: the Financial Ombudsman Service for UK clients, or The Financial Commission for AxiTrader LLC clients.
