BFC Forex is an Indian money changer and remittance firm, not a trading broker. It publishes a website Terms of Use, a privacy policy and a compliance page, and no customer agreement. Four charges on a transfer are named with no amounts, and the transaction fee is a commission with no published rate. The Terms of Use let BFC Forex withdraw the service with immediate effect, with no notice and no liability to you.

What the documents say

14 clauses worth knowing about, worst first, each quoted from BFC Forex's own files

01

BFC Forex can change, suspend or withdraw its service and these terms with immediate effect, with no notice to you. The same clause says it carries no liability to you for doing it.

Why this matters

If BFC Forex pulls a service while your transfer is in flight, nothing in these terms promises you a refund. The clause says it owes you nothing for the interruption.

We may, at any time, with immediate effect, change, suspend or withdraw the BFC Applications, the Service and these TOU without notice and without liability to you.

Set against a regulated standard: FCA (UK)

Firms licensed by the FCA to move money must give a customer notice before changing a payment service contract, normally two months, and may not switch the service off at will. BFC Forex's terms reserve immediate effect, no notice and no liability.

BFC Forex is not licensed by this regulator, so this is a comparison of practice, not a finding of any breach.

02

BFC Forex charges a transaction fee on money you send. Its FAQ calls that fee the commission we charge and says it is based on the amount you send. The rate appears nowhere on the site.

Why this matters

You cannot work out the cost of a transfer before you reach the counter. BFC Forex names four further charges on a transfer, two of them taxes, and puts a figure on none of them.

Exhibit 2WarningHarder than usual4

The transaction fee is the commission we charge for offering our services to you. This is based on the amount you send.

Set against a regulated standard: FCA (UK), CySEC (Cyprus)

Firms licensed by the FCA and CySEC must give a retail customer the costs and charges of a service before they buy it, in a form they can keep. BFC Forex's FAQ tells you to contact it for details of the transaction fee.

BFC Forex is not licensed by these regulators, so this is a comparison of practice, not a finding of any breach.

03

If BFC Forex accepts your complaint, its policy pays back the transaction amount, the commission and the exchange rate benefit. The policy covers nothing else, and it rules out damages and what it calls opportunity losses.

Why this matters

A delayed or failed transfer can cost you more than the amount you handed over. BFC Forex has written those further losses out of its own redress policy.

Exhibit 3WarningHarder than usual

This policy only covers compensation for financial losses in real terms for the principle amount of the transaction, the commission amount and any foreign currency exchange rate benefit.

Set against a regulated standard: FCA (UK)

Firms licensed by the FCA have to put a customer back in the position they would have been in, and the Financial Ombudsman Service can award money for distress and inconvenience as well as for cash lost. BFC Forex's policy excludes damages and opportunity losses from the start.

BFC Forex is not licensed by this regulator, so this is a comparison of practice, not a finding of any breach.

  • Worse together with Exhibit 8The Terms of Use rule out liability for loss from the site, and the complaints policy caps what a justified complaint can recover, so both routes to money back are closed at the same time.
04

BFC Forex sells a card that holds up to 14 currencies and promises easy encashment of what you do not spend. It publishes no card terms. Nothing tells you the cost of buying the card, reloading it or using an ATM, or the rate BFC Forex pays when you cash the balance back.

Why this matters

Above USD 3,000 BFC Forex says your foreign exchange has to be taken on a card. The price of loading it, and of getting the unspent part back, is set at the branch, so you cannot compare it before you buy.

Your agreement with BFC Forex is the Terms of Use plus what it calls BFC Policies incorporated herein. The Terms of Use never name those policies and never link them, so you cannot read what you agreed to.

Why this matters

You are bound by documents you have no way to find. BFC Forex can also point at a policy later and say it was always part of the deal.

The home page promises secure transactions, the contract hands you the risk

BFC Forex's home page carries 100% Secure Transactions. Its Terms of Use say use of the website and its content is at your sole risk. The same document takes no responsibility for data entry errors in the rates it publishes, and gives no guarantee that the site is free of viruses.

Promise against contract1 clause flagged

BFC Forex puts 100% Secure Transactions on its home page. Its Terms of Use say use of the website and its content is at your sole risk, and that it cannot guarantee the site is free of viruses.

Why this matters

The promise that sold you the service is not the promise you can hold BFC Forex to. The home page panel carries no condition, and the contract hands the risk back to you.

A complaint reaches BFC Forex's own manager and no one else

BFC Forex gives itself 20 business days to answer a complaint, and its policy lets that answer be spoken rather than written. When it accepts a complaint, compensation covers the transaction amount, the commission and the exchange rate benefit, and nothing else. The Terms of Use rule out liability for direct loss and make you cover BFC Forex's legal costs.

Redress limits3 clauses flagged

BFC Forex gives itself 20 business days to answer a complaint. Its policy lets it deliver that answer verbally, so you may be left with nothing in writing.

Why this matters

Your complaint goes to BFC Forex's own Head of Operations, who is also its Complaint Resolution Officer. The policy names no outside body you can turn to if the answer does not satisfy you.

If you are unhappy with BFC Forex's site or its terms, the Terms of Use say your only remedy is to stop using them. The same document rules out liability for direct loss as well as indirect loss.

Why this matters

Indian consumer law still applies, and the contract says so. Beyond that, the Terms of Use leave you no claim against BFC Forex for anything that happens on its site.

A breach of these terms by you makes you responsible for what BFC Forex loses as a result, including its legal fees and the interest on them. The cover runs to its owners, its employees and its partner websites, and the terms set no ceiling on it.

Why this matters

A term like this turns a dispute into a bill. If BFC Forex spends money on lawyers over something you did on its site, the Terms of Use send that cost to you.

Exhibit 9WarningHarder than usual

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless BFC, its owners, employees, partner websites and their respective lawful successors and assigns from and against any and all losses, liabilities, claims, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees and disbursements in connection therewith and interest chargeable thereon) asserted against or incurred by BFC, its owners, employees partner websites and their respective lawful successors and assigns that arise out of, result from, or may be payable by virtue of, any breach or non-performance of any representation, warranty, covenant or agreement made or obligation to be performed by the customer pursuant to this agreement.

Confidentiality promised in one document, removed in another

BFC Forex's privacy policy says it holds your information secure and confidential. Its Terms of Use treat anything you send, by email or through the site, as non-confidential, and license it to BFC Forex and every other user. To stop its marketing you have to write a letter to Mumbai.

Your data2 clauses flagged

The Terms of Use treat anything you send BFC Forex, by email or through its site, as non-confidential and non-proprietary. You also hand BFC Forex and every user of its site a permanent licence to use, change and publish that material.

Why this matters

BFC Forex asks you to email complaints and transaction details to contactus@bfcforex.com. Its privacy policy promises to hold your information confidential, and its Terms of Use say what you send is not.

BFC Forex can switch the service off with immediate effect

One clause lets BFC Forex change, suspend or withdraw its service with immediate effect, with no notice and no liability to you. Your agreement also includes policies the Terms of Use never name. Neither the Terms of Use nor the privacy policy carries a date, so you cannot tell when either last changed.

Exit conditions1 clause flagged

BFC Forex's privacy policy promises that the date of its most recent revision will appear on the page. No date appears. The Terms of Use carry no date either, and BFC Forex can change them at any time without notice.

Why this matters

You cannot tell which version you agreed to, or whether a term changed last week. BFC Forex asks you to check the pages yourself, and using the site is what counts as your agreement to whatever they now say.

Indian law and Indian courts, which is where the customers are

BFC Forex's terms are governed by Indian law, and disputes go to the courts of India on a non-exclusive basis. For an Indian customer that is the mild version of this clause. The line to watch is the one letting BFC Forex hand your agreement to another company at any time.

Where you would sue1 clause flagged

Indian law governs these terms and disputes go to the courts of India, which is where BFC Forex's customers are. The clause is non-exclusive, so it does not shut the door on other courts. BFC Forex can also hand the terms to another company at any time.

Why this matters

This is the mild version of a jurisdiction clause and a good sign. Watch the assignment line instead: the company holding your agreement can change without your consent.

Exhibit 13NoticeStandard wording

All disputes or claims arising out of use of the BFC Applications or thereafter, in connection with the validity, interpretation, implementation or alleged breach of any provision of the TOU or the Privacy Policy, shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.

The licence is claimed on the marketing pages, not in the contract

BFC Forex & Financial Services Pvt Ltd contracts with you from Mumbai, and every page footer says it is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. No licence number appears in any document it publishes. For money coming into India it acts as a sub-agent for Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria Money and Transfast, and those firms' own terms are not on its site.

Who you contract with1 clause flagged

Every page footer says BFC Forex is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India, and its FAQ says it is fully authorized and monitored by the RBI. The Terms of Use, which is the document that binds you, names no regulator, no licence and no licence number.

Why this matters

The licence claim and the contract sit in different places, and no document on the site carries a number you could check. For whether that licence is real and current, read our regulation report on BFC Forex.

The documents this reading is based on

7 files, all published by BFC Forex. Each shows when we read it and a fingerprint of its wording.

WIKILIX keeps the copy of each file it read, and does not republish it: what is published is the fingerprint of its wording. Download the file yourself and hash its text, lowercased with runs of whitespace collapsed, and a matching fingerprint means the wording quoted above is still the wording BFC Forex publishes.

BFC Forex & Financial Services Pvt Ltd

BFC Forex & Financial Services Pvt Ltd, registered at C&B Square, Sangam Complex, Unit No. 302, 127 Andheri Kurla Road, Andheri East, Mumbai 400059. Its about page says it is licensed as Authorised Dealer Category II by the Reserve Bank of India, and no licence number appears in any document it publishes. The Terms of Use define BFC to include its holding companies, subsidiaries and affiliates acting jointly and severally, so every disclaimer in that document runs to the whole group. The Central Bank of Bahrain licence named on the same about page belongs to the group's Bahraini business, not to the Indian company you contract with. For money coming into India, BFC Forex acts as a sub-agent for Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria Money and Transfast, and those firms' terms are not published on its site.

Quotations are copied verbatim from the documents named above, with the clause number and the page each one came from. Where a clause is quoted in another language, the original is shown first and the English is a translation.

The plain-language parts, what a clause means for a client, how ordinary it is, and how it reads against a regulated standard, are WIKILIX's analysis and are labelled as such on every card. This is a reading of public documents, not legal advice and not an allegation of wrongdoing.

In fairness, and what we could not check

A reader who knows the edges of the work can trust the middle of it

BFC Forex publishes a Customer Complaints Policy with real timelines: acknowledgement within 24 hours or 5 business days, a final answer within 20 business days, and a named officer who owns the file. It sets no deadline on you for complaining, which many broker contracts do. Its compliance page names the PML Act 2002, Reserve Bank of India guidance, FATF and OFAC sanctions screening, a Principal Officer and a five year record keeping rule. Its rate tables carry a timestamp and say that rates are indicative and subject to change. The jurisdiction clause points at Indian courts, where its customers are, and it is non-exclusive, so it does not shut off other courts.

This review covers the Terms of Use, the privacy policy and the compliance page in full, and the FAQ page in part. It does not cover two PDFs on the site: the remittance document checklist and the corporate social responsibility policy. The agreements a customer signs are not published, and BFC Forex's own corporate registration page lists signing the commercial agreements as a step taken at the branch. BFC Forex publishes in English only, so there was no second language version of its marketing to hold against the contract. The only earlier copy available is of the Terms of Use, so it is not possible to say whether the privacy policy or the compliance page has changed.

How to check any of this yourself

Every quote above links to the BFC Forex file it came from. This is what to do with it.

Open the three stepsFind the words in the source, work out the fingerprint, and read what a difference does and does not prove.

Open the source and search for the words

Every quote has a link under it. Open the file, or the web page, and search it for the words we quote. The clause number next to the quote tells you where to look.

If the words are not there any more, the source may have changed after we read it. That is worth knowing too. We keep the date we read it, and a code worked out from its wording, so the quote stays checkable.

What a fingerprint is

A fingerprint is a code worked out from what a source says. Change one word and the code changes completely. We keep two codes for every file we read, and the panel on each source shows both.

The first is the code of the exact file we downloaded. The second is the code of its wording alone, with capital letters lowered and runs of spaces collapsed. When the same words are saved as a new file, the first code changes and the second one stays the same.

Only the first code can be worked out on your own computer. Save the file, then run one of these, putting the name of the file you saved where the example is. The panel on each source prints the command with that source's real file name already in it.

macOS or Linux:
  shasum -a 256 the-file-you-saved.pdf

Windows:
  certutil -hashfile the-file-you-saved.pdf SHA256

The two codes are different from each other, and they are not meant to match. Comparing one against the other proves nothing.

What a difference means, and what it does not

A different file code on its own proves nothing. A PDF saved again with a new date inside it is a new file saying exactly the same thing.

A different wording code means the words themselves changed. That is the one that matters, and it is why we keep it.

Even then, a change is not proof of bad faith. Companies update their documents. What this report says is what the document said on the day we read it, and every quote carries that date.

A source that is a web page and not a file has no file to save, so only the code of its wording is shown.

How this report is made

Every clause quoted above comes from a document BFC Forex publishes on its own website, downloaded and hashed on the date shown, with the clause number and page recorded so any reader can check it. We do not allege anything the documents do not say, and we do not judge BFC Forex on anything other than its own published terms and its own public marketing. Where a clause has a qualifier that softens it, the report says so. Last read Oct 12, 2026.

If you represent BFC Forex and a clause has changed, been withdrawn, or is being read out of context, tell us and we will re-read the documents and update this page. Corrections from the broker are welcome and are published with the reading they change. Contact us.
