Risk scorecard
Each area is scored 0 (clean) to 10 (worst). Higher means more risk.
Regulation
7/10 · HighNo financial-market licence anywhere. Only Chile UAF anti-money-laundering registration (not a licence) plus a pending CMF Fintech application; non-Chile deposits sit with an unlicensed BVI company. Not scored 9-10 because there is no fake or borrowed licence and authorisation is genuinely in progress.
Identity & transparency
3/10 · LowReal named entities (Capitaria Latam SpA, KT Financial Group Ltd) confirmed in corporate registries, staffed offices in four countries, named CEO and a compliance channel. Small deduction for the offshore deposit layer and no disclosed client-fund segregation.
Withdrawals & conduct
3/10 · LowNo fund-integrity withdrawal-trap pattern. Complaints are mostly trading losses and hard selling; independent users report fast, often same-day payouts. No credible advance-fee-to-withdraw demand.
Reputation
5/10 · ModerateEstablished brand with genuine Forbes and Diario Financiero coverage and many satisfied clients, offset by a persistent thread of aggressive-sales and loss complaints and aggregator warnings about its unregulated status.
Website claims
3/10 · LowHonest that it is unregulated and not an investment adviser, with risk warnings and a genuine founding year. Main concern is aggressive marketing of up to 100x leverage to retail clients.
Operational history
6/10 · HighVerified long track record: domain since 2015, Chilean entity since 2013, brand operating since 2006 as ForexChile, rebranded to Capitaria in 2016.

Why we reached this verdict
How the evidence adds up.
We rate Capitaria HIGH RISK because it takes client deposits with no financial-market licence, even though it is a genuine and established business.
- No financial regulator supervises it. Its own site states it is a 'sujeto obligado' of the UAF (Chile's anti-money-laundering unit) and that it is not an investment adviser under the Fintech Law. That is an anti-money-laundering registration, not a trading licence, and it gives your funds no protection.
- We checked the CMF public register of financial-service providers. Capitaria, Capitaria Latam SpA and KT Financial Group do not appear in it in any status. The company itself says its CMF application is still awaiting a decision.
- Clients outside Chile deposit with KT Financial Group Limited, a British Virgin Islands company. Corporate records confirm the entity exists, but that is a company registration, not a financial licence, and it carries no local investor protection.
- The platform advertises up to 100x leverage on CFDs. At that leverage most retail traders lose money, and there is no deposit-protection scheme.
- Chilean complaint boards such as reclamos.cl carry scattered complaints from 2016 to 2023, but they are mostly about trading losses and aggressive selling rather than withheld balances. That is a conduct concern, not proof of a withdrawal trap.
- No regulator warning or alert naming Capitaria or capitaria.com appears on the Chilean, Mexican, Peruvian or international lists we searched.
Evidence ledger
Every finding, with its source and how strongly it points.
E1Capitaria's own site states it is only a 'sujeto obligado' of the UAF (anti-money-laundering unit) and that it is 'not an investment adviser under Law 21.521'. No CMF, BVI or other financial-market licence is claimed. This is an admission that it is unregulated.
E2The CMF public register of financial-service providers, searched across all statuses, does not list Capitaria, Capitaria Latam SpA, KT Financial Group or the parent Grupo Cosban. The company confirms its CMF Fintech application is still awaiting a decision.
E3KT Financial Group Ltd, the entity that takes deposits from non-Chilean clients, is a British Virgin Islands company (no. 1488685, LEI 549300UUQWURQ7M6ZL19, registered 2017-10-19) recorded under the BVI Register of Companies. This confirms corporate existence only; it is not a financial-services licence.
ModerateGLEIF LEI recordE4The site advertises leveraged CFD trading of up to 100x through MetaTrader 5 to retail clients, a high-risk product where most retail traders lose money, with no compensation scheme behind deposits.
ModerateCapitaria homepageE5A broker-review aggregator classifies Capitaria as unregulated and high risk and says funds cannot be protected by law. This reflects the lack of regulation rather than a proven theft pattern, and it conflates 'unregulated' with 'scam', so it is treated as a lead.
ModerateBrokersView (fastbull)E6Forbes Chile documents a genuine, sizeable operation: founded 1 July 2006, about 130 employees (90 in Chile), roughly 20,000 clients, around 500 million dollars in daily trading volume, offices in four countries, and a named CEO.
StrongForbes ChileE7Independent Chilean investor community reviews report positive experiences: fast execution, same-day withdrawals and accessible support, alongside cautions about the lack of regulation. No fund-integrity withdrawal-trap pattern is evident.
ModerateRankia broker analysisE8No warning, alert or enforcement action naming Capitaria or capitaria.com was found on the CMF (Chile), CNBV or CONDUSEF (Mexico), SMV (Peru), CNMV (Spain) or IOSCO lists searched as of September 2026. Absence is not clearance, but no regulator has flagged the operation.
E9Capitaria is actively pursuing regulation: it applied to the CMF under the Fintech Law for intermediation and custody of financial instruments and submitted final requirements in late 2025, with a decision pending as of April 2026.
ModerateForbes ChileE10Domain capitaria.com was registered on 2015-08-28, the Chilean entity Capitaria Latam SpA was recorded in the Santiago commercial registry in 2013, and the brand operated as ForexChile from 2006 until a documented rebrand in February 2016. This is a verified track record of more than a decade with no age misrepresentation.
The other side
The strongest case in this broker’s favour.
There is a strong case that Capitaria is a real, serious business rather than a scam.
- It is one of the best known trading brands in Chile, founded in 2006 as ForexChile, covered by Forbes Chile and Diario Financiero, with around 130 employees and roughly 20,000 clients.
- It is actively seeking regulation. It applied to the CMF under the Fintech Law for intermediation and custody of financial instruments and submitted its final requirements in late 2025.
- Independent users report that withdrawals are paid quickly, often the same day, and the company publishes a compliance and complaints channel.
- It does not fake a licence, does not impersonate another firm, and is openly honest that it is not yet regulated by the CMF. That transparency is unusual for a scam.
- Staffed offices with published addresses and phone numbers operate in four countries, and the company holds industry recognitions and a large referral-driven client base.
What would change this
What we would need to see to revise the verdict.
Our rating would move up or down on any of these.
- Better: the CMF grants Capitaria's Fintech authorisation and it appears on the CMF register as an authorised intermediary and custodian. We would re-rate it toward regulated.
- Better: clear, verifiable segregation of client funds with a named bank or custodian.
- Worse: a regulator (CMF in Chile, SMV in Peru, CNBV in Mexico or another) publishes a warning or enforcement action naming Capitaria or capitaria.com.
- Worse: a consistent, checkable pattern of withheld withdrawals or demands for extra payments to release funds, reported by different users across more than one platform.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about this broker’s safety.
Is Capitaria a scam?
We did not find evidence that Capitaria is a scam. It is a real, established Chilean broker with offices, staff and about 20,000 clients. The problem is that it is unregulated by any financial authority, so we rate it high risk rather than safe.
Is Capitaria a fraud?
We found no evidence of fraud. No regulator warning, enforcement action or fraud-related court record names Capitaria or capitaria.com. The main risk is that it is unregulated and your funds are not protected, not that it is a criminal operation.
Is Capitaria regulated?
No. Capitaria is not authorised by any financial-market regulator. In Chile it is only registered with the UAF, the anti-money-laundering unit, which is not the same as a trading licence. Its application to the CMF under the Fintech Law was still pending at the time of writing.
Can I withdraw my money from Capitaria?
Most independent users report fast withdrawals, often the same day, and the company advertises payouts through local bank accounts. We did not find a pattern of withheld withdrawals. That said, without a regulator there is no external guarantee if a dispute arises.
Is my money safe with Capitaria?
Your money is not protected by any financial regulator or compensation scheme. Chilean clients contract with Capitaria Latam SpA and others with a British Virgin Islands company. Only deposit what you can afford to lose.
Who owns Capitaria and where is it based?
Capitaria is a Chilean group headquartered in Santiago, run by CEO Pedro Torrealba, with the Chilean entity (Capitaria Latam SpA) held by Grupo Cosban SpA. International clients are served by KT Financial Group Limited in the British Virgin Islands.
How long has Capitaria been operating?
Since 2006. It started as ForexChile, rebranded to Capitaria in February 2016, and expanded to Peru, Uruguay and Mexico. That is a genuine track record of more than a decade.
What is the UAF registration worth?
The UAF (Unidad de Analisis Financiero) is Chile's anti-money-laundering body. Being a registered 'sujeto obligado' means the firm must report to prevent money laundering. It is not a trading licence, does not vet the trading business and does not protect your deposit.
What is KT Financial Group Limited?
It is the British Virgin Islands company that Capitaria uses to serve clients outside Chile. Company records confirm it exists and was registered in 2017, but it is not a licensed investment business, so BVI regulation does not protect those clients.
Is Capitaria a clone of another broker?
No. Capitaria is an original Chilean brand (formerly ForexChile), not an impersonation of another firm. It uses its own legal entities and does not borrow another company's licence number.
Is Capitaria authorised by the CMF in Chile?
Not yet. Capitaria applied under the Fintech Law to be authorised as an intermediary and custodian of financial instruments and submitted its final requirements in late 2025, but at the time of writing it does not appear on the CMF register as authorised.
What should I check before depositing with Capitaria?
Check the CMF register to see if authorisation has been granted, understand that up to 100x leverage can wipe out your balance quickly, keep records of all deposits and withdrawals, and never send more money to 'unlock' or 'reactivate' an account.
What we recommend
The practical takeaway from everything above.
For readers considering Capitaria:
- Treat any money you deposit as capital you can afford to lose. No financial regulator and no compensation scheme stands behind it today.
- If you are in Chile, check the CMF register before depositing to see whether authorisation has since been granted.
- Be very careful with leverage. Up to 100x can empty an account fast, and account managers may push you to deposit more.
- Keep records of every deposit, withdrawal and chat. If a withdrawal is refused, raise it with your bank or card issuer and with the UAF or CMF.
