Contract reading

What CGS International legally published, but does not want you to read

Every clause below is published by CGS International itself, on its own website, today. The finding is not that the text exists. It is the distance between what a client is shown and what a client agreed to. Read from its own documents on .

Contracting entity: CGS International Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

hidden feedepositssole discretionkyc freezestale documentwithdrawalsbiometric datacounterpartydata retentiondata rights

CGS International is a licensed Thai broker that publishes its commission rates openly. What you cannot read is the contract. Both links to the account opening pack, Thai and English, deliver no file at all. Taking money out of a foreign securities account costs 2,000 baht per currency, and CGSI can change that fee without notice.

The numbers in this contractFigures taken from this broker's own clauses, so the labels differ from broker to broker. The four in the panel above are the same on every report.

What the documents say

15 clauses worth knowing about, worst first, each quoted from CGS International's own files

01

CGS International asks you to sign its account documents, then gives you no way to read them first. Two links offer the account opening pack, one Thai and one English. Both deliver nothing and send you back to the home page.

Why this matters

You accept the contract inside the CGSI app, at the moment you open the account. Before that you cannot read a word of it. Nothing on the website lets you check what you are agreeing to.

Set against a regulated standard: FCA (UK), CySEC (Cyprus)

Firms licensed by the FCA and CySEC must give a retail client the terms of business before the client commits any money. CGS International offers a download for its account pack, and no document arrives.

CGS International is not licensed by these regulators, so this is a comparison of practice, not a finding of any breach.

02

Taking money out of a CGSI foreign securities account costs 2,000 baht per transfer, per currency, with 7% VAT on top. Putting money in costs 1,000 baht. The exit charge is double the entry charge.

Why this matters

You pay the 2,000 baht on every currency you hold, so a USD and HKD account costs 4,000 baht to empty. CGSI waives the deposit fee on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It waives nothing on the way out.

Exhibit 2WarningHarder than usual$2000

What it costsWithdrawing one currency costs 2,000 baht plus 7% VAT, so 2,140 baht leaves your balance. Two currencies cost 4,280 baht.

  • Worse together with Exhibit 3The fee is large and the same schedule lets CGSI change it without telling you.
03

Cash you leave with CGSI as collateral earns interest at a rate CGSI decides. Borrow from CGSI to buy shares and it decides that rate too. Neither rate appears anywhere on the site.

Why this matters

You cannot work out what your idle cash earns, or what a margin loan costs you, before you open the account. CGSI publishes its trading commission in detail and no interest rate at all.

Firms licensed by the FCA and CySEC must disclose costs and charges to a retail client before they trade, including the cost of borrowing. CGSI states only that it sets the rate.

CGS International is not licensed by these regulators, so this is a comparison of practice, not a finding of any breach.

04

CGSI publishes its website terms in two languages, and they are not the same agreement. The English version excludes every kind of damage, for CGSI and its affiliates, management and staff. The Thai version carries no such list.

Why this matters

Which version shields CGSI depends on which language it relies on. You agreed to one of them. The English version also lets CGSI change the site at its sole discretion with no notice, wording the Thai version does not contain.

Exhibit 12WarningRarely seen

Our readingTwo translations of the same terms usually differ in wording, not in what they exclude. Here one language adds a whole class of excluded damage and extends it to employees, so the protection CGSI holds depends on which version is produced.

05

CGSI says on its online services page that you pay no deposit fee, because it covers the charge itself. Its account opening page puts the bank's fee on you, and names three banks as the only exceptions.

Why this matters

The free promise covers only the Cash Online gateway, which needs weeks of bank approval before it works. Until then you fund the account by Bill Payment and pay your own bank's charge, at a price neither page states.

  • Worse together with Exhibit 7The one channel that is genuinely free is also the one you cannot use for the first few weeks.

Free and instant deposits, with the fee and the delay in the small print

CGS International tells you on one page that deposits cost you nothing, because it pays the bank charge itself. On another it puts that charge on you, with three banks exempt and no amount stated. The same gateway it calls instant and ready today needs about 2 to 3 weeks of bank approval before it works.

Promise and footnote1 clause flagged

CGSI advertises Cash Online as ready today, fast and instant. The same page says the bank approval takes about 2 to 3 weeks, and only after paper forms, an identity card copy and a bank book copy.

Why this matters

You cannot use the instant funding on the day you open the account. For the first weeks you move money the slow way, and the page that sold you the speed is the page that says so.

The exit charge is double the entry charge, and both can move without notice

CGS International charges 2,000 baht to bring money back from a foreign securities account, per currency, and 1,000 baht to send it out. It can change both figures with no notice. The interest it pays on your idle cash and the interest it charges on a margin loan appear nowhere on the site, because CGSI reserves both rates to itself.

Cost disclosure1 clause flagged

CGSI can change every fee on its foreign securities schedule without telling you first. The same note says a securities transfer may cost more than the table shows, and tells you to ask a member of staff for the figure.

Why this matters

The 2,000 baht exit fee you accepted when you funded the account can be a different number by the time you withdraw. Nothing in the note caps the change or gives you warning of it.

You can buy online at any hour and you cannot cash out the same way

A CGS International foreign securities withdrawal takes 2 to 3 working days and cannot be started online at all. You ask the officer who looks after your account, and the money goes to the single bank account CGSI holds for direct debit across every product you own.

Exit conditions1 clause flagged

You cannot withdraw from a CGSI foreign securities account yourself. The page tells you to ask the officer who looks after your account. Money then takes 2 to 3 working days to reach your bank.

Why this matters

You can place a trade online at any hour, and you cannot start a withdrawal the same way. The money can only go to the one bank account CGSI holds for direct debit, and that account covers every product you own.

The address for a complaint is a building CGSI has left

CGS International's privacy policy sends a data rights request to Sindhorn Tower, an address its own company page no longer lists among its offices. The head office is One Bangkok Tower 3. The same policy sets no deadline for answering any of the eight rights it grants, and the English terms exclude far more liability than the Thai ones.

Routes of redress1 clause flagged

To use your data rights or complain about your data, CGSI's privacy policy gives you a postal address at Sindhorn Tower. Its own company page puts the head office at One Bangkok Tower 3, and Sindhorn Tower is not among its offices.

Why this matters

A letter sent to the address in the policy goes to a building CGSI no longer lists. The policy also sets no deadline at all for CGSI to answer any of the eight rights it grants you.

A lapsed review suspends the account, and the tool to prevent it is unfinished

CGS International reviews your file every one or two years and suspends the account if that review lapses. The online tool for it is still marked Coming Soon. CGSI asks for 3 months of bank statements, 6 for a foreign account, and it takes your face scan and fingerprint without listing them as sensitive data.

Identity and data3 clauses flagged

CGSI reviews your client information and risk profile every one or two years. Let that review lapse and CGSI suspends your account. The online tool meant to prevent it is still marked Coming Soon.

Why this matters

A suspended account cannot trade, so a missed form can hold your positions while the market moves. CGSI asks new clients for 3 months of bank statements, and 6 months for a foreign securities account.

CGSI collects your face scan and fingerprint, and lists them beside ordinary details like your job title and signature. Its own list of the sensitive data it avoids names race, religion, blood group, criminal record and health. Biometric data is not on that list.

Why this matters

The Personal Data Protection Act counts biometric data as sensitive. CGSI does ask separately for consent to sensitive data, so the gap is in the labelling, and the label is what tells you to read that consent slowly.

The online deposit gateway will not take a small top up

The CGS International online deposit gateway rejects anything under 10,000 baht. Siam Commercial Bank is capped at 500,000 baht a transaction, where Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank reach 50,000,000. Smaller top ups go through Bill Payment or a QR code, and those are the routes that carry your own bank's fee.

Funding limits1 clause flagged

The CGSI online deposit gateway takes nothing below 10,000 baht. With Siam Commercial Bank the ceiling is 500,000 baht a transaction, against 50,000,000 at Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank.

Why this matters

A 5,000 baht top up cannot go through the gateway at all. You use Bill Payment or a QR code instead, and those are the routes where your own bank's fee falls on you.

Thai law and Thai courts, which is where a Thai client would expect to be

Thai law governs CGS International's terms in both language versions, with conflict of law rules set aside. For a company registered in Thailand in 1999, licensed by the Ministry of Finance and the SEC, and serving clients in Thailand, that is the forum you would expect. Nothing here sends you abroad to make a claim.

Governing law1 clause flagged

CGSI's terms are governed by Thai law, with conflict of law rules set aside. For a Thai company licensed in Thailand and serving clients there, that is where you would expect to go.

Why this matters

You are not sent to a distant court in a jurisdiction you have never visited. If you trade with CGSI from outside Thailand, your claim still belongs in the Thai system and under Thai law.

The agreement CGS International asks you to sign is not published anywhere you can read it

The contract is accepted inside the CGSI app instead, at the moment the account opens, and the company holding it is a Thai firm owned through Singapore by China Galaxy Securities.

Contract access1 clause flagged

You contract with CGS International Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a Thai company holding securities and derivatives licences and sitting at Stock Exchange of Thailand member number 7. Its English privacy policy still calls the group CGS-CIMB.

Why this matters

Your data travels to the group companies that policy names, and CGSI's own history page says those names have since changed. You cannot tell from the policy which companies hold your data today.

The documents this reading is based on

WIKILIX keeps the copy of each file it read, and does not republish it: what is published is the fingerprint of its wording. Download the file yourself and hash its text, lowercased with runs of whitespace collapsed, and a matching fingerprint means the wording quoted above is still the wording CGS International publishes.

Who the contract is with

CGS International Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

You contract with CGS International Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a Thai company registered in 1999 under number 0105542081800. Its own company page lists a securities business licence from the Ministry of Finance, a derivatives licence from the SEC, and membership number 7 of the Stock Exchange of Thailand. CGS International Securities PTE LTD of Singapore holds 184,999,994 of its 185,000,000 shares, and above that sits China Galaxy Securities of China. The English privacy policy still calls the group CGS-CIMB, a name the company's own history page says has since changed.

Quotations are copied verbatim from the documents named above, with the clause number and the page each one came from. Where a clause is quoted in another language, the original is shown first and the English is a translation.

The plain-language parts, what a clause means for a client, how ordinary it is, and how it reads against a regulated standard, are WIKILIX's analysis and are labelled as such on every card. This is a reading of public documents, not legal advice and not an allegation of wrongdoing.

In fairness, and what we could not check

A reader who knows the edges of the work can trust the middle of it

The trading commission is published in full, with the 7% VAT named and the exchange, regulatory and clearing fees itemised inside the rate. CGSI pays the bank charge itself on deposits through its Cash Online gateway. Nothing we read lets CGSI void your profit, treat several of your accounts as one for liability, or refuse a withdrawal at its own discretion. We found no dormancy fee, no bonus scheme and no lock on your deposit. The privacy policy exists in both languages and names a data protection officer with a direct email and phone number.

We could not read the account opening pack, which is the contract itself. Both download links, the Thai one and the English one, return no file and send you to the home page. The online opening route asks for a Thai national identity number before it shows anything, so we did not see the contract presented there either. Every clause quoted here comes from a page or a file we opened ourselves on cgsi.co.th. We could not open the eKYC page at cpth.cgsi.co.th, and the withdrawal guide is a picture with no text in it, so we did not read either one. No earlier version of these documents is available, so this is a first reading with nothing to compare against. CGSI publishes no fee list beyond the trading commission and the foreign securities table, so we cannot say whether it charges for a dormant account, a closure or custody.

How to check any of this yourself

Every quote above links to the CGS International file it came from. This is what to do with it.

Open the three stepsFind the words in the source, work out the fingerprint, and read what a difference does and does not prove.

Open the source and search for the words

Every quote has a link under it. Open the file, or the web page, and search it for the words we quote. The clause number next to the quote tells you where to look.

If the words are not there any more, the source may have changed after we read it. That is worth knowing too. We keep the date we read it, and a code worked out from its wording, so the quote stays checkable.

What a fingerprint is

A fingerprint is a code worked out from what a source says. Change one word and the code changes completely. We keep two codes for every file we read, and the panel on each source shows both.

The first is the code of the exact file we downloaded. The second is the code of its wording alone, with capital letters lowered and runs of spaces collapsed. When the same words are saved as a new file, the first code changes and the second one stays the same.

Only the first code can be worked out on your own computer. Save the file, then run one of these, putting the name of the file you saved where the example is. The panel on each source prints the command with that source's real file name already in it.

macOS or Linux:
  shasum -a 256 the-file-you-saved.pdf

Windows:
  certutil -hashfile the-file-you-saved.pdf SHA256

The two codes are different from each other, and they are not meant to match. Comparing one against the other proves nothing.

What a difference means, and what it does not

A different file code on its own proves nothing. A PDF saved again with a new date inside it is a new file saying exactly the same thing.

A different wording code means the words themselves changed. That is the one that matters, and it is why we keep it.

Even then, a change is not proof of bad faith. Companies update their documents. What this report says is what the document said on the day we read it, and every quote carries that date.

A source that is a web page and not a file has no file to save, so only the code of its wording is shown.

How this report is made

Every clause quoted above comes from a document CGS International publishes on its own website, downloaded and hashed on the date shown, with the clause number and page recorded so any reader can check it. We do not allege anything the documents do not say, and we do not judge CGS International on anything other than its own published terms and its own public marketing. Where a clause has a qualifier that softens it, the report says so. Last read Oct 7, 2026.

If you represent CGS International and a clause has changed, been withdrawn, or is being read out of context, tell us and we will re-read the documents and update this page. Corrections from the broker are welcome and are published with the reading they change. Contact us.

This is a reading of a contract, not legal advice and not a ruling on CGS International. Whether its licence is real and current is a separate check on the broker profile.
