Who they are
A quick desk file on the company behind the brand.
- Brand: CPT Markets, also trading as CPTFX; the group calls itself CPT Markets Group.
- Legal entity: CPT Markets Limited, Belize company no. 155553 (LEI 254900ZMOTMXG08WWL90), created 8 July 2015. South African clients deal with CPT Markets (PTY) Ltd, registration 2014/214730/07.
- Registered: New Horizon Building, Ground Floor, 3½ Miles Philip S.W. Goldson Highway, Belize City, Belize. The South African office at 6 Kikuyu Road, Sunninghill, Johannesburg is a Regus business centre, as the site itself notes.
- Website: cptmarkets.com, registered on 28 August 2017, with mirror sites cptfx.com and belize.cptinternational.com.
- Only licence: for clients outside South Africa, Belize FSC licence 6616058, an offshore licence with no compensation scheme. The FSCA authorisation covers the South African company only, the UAE licence allows introduction and promotion only, and the FCA licence 606110 belongs to UK sister CPT Markets UK Limited.
- Owner: Zhijian Wang, recorded by Companies House as the 75%-plus owner of CPT Markets UK Limited and by the UAE CMA as director of CPT Mena Financial Services L.L.C.
- Offers: leveraged CFDs and spot forex on currencies, metals, indices, energies, shares and crypto through MT4, MT5 and its own app, plus copy trading, MAM accounts and deposit bonus promotions.
- Not accepted: residents of the United States, North Korea and Singapore. The site still runs 16 language versions, including Simplified Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Malay and Indonesian, and lists a mainland China toll-free number.
- Age claim: 18th anniversary branding and over 18 years of global service. The CPT Markets brand and domains date from August 2017; the 18 years count from the 2008 incorporation of the UK sister under an earlier name and earlier owners.

Why we reached this verdict
How the evidence adds up.
We rate CPT Markets high risk, not a scam. Its licences are real and confirmed on the regulators' own registers, but the strongest ones belong to other group companies, and recent complaints about frozen profits form a consistent pattern.
- Where your money sits. Outside South Africa, cptmarkets.com accounts fall under the Belize terms, with CPT Markets Limited, licence 6616058 on the Belize FSC register. Belize supervision is offshore and offers no compensation scheme. [E1, E27, E31]
- The stronger licences do not cover these clients. The FSCA authorises CPT Markets (PTY) Ltd for advice and intermediary services only. The UAE CMA lists CPT Mena with an introduction and promotion licence and states that it may not broker derivatives or spot forex. The FCA licence 606110 belongs to CPT Markets UK Limited, which trades through cptmarkets.co.uk. [E2, E3, E4]
- A consistent complaint pattern. Between July and October 2026, clients on Trustpilot and BrokersView describe the same mechanism: profits deducted or accounts frozen after the broker alleged scalping, bonus arbitrage, news trading or hedging across accounts. The claims give account numbers and amounts from $144.54 to $40,307, and the largest complainant says the case went to the Belize FSC in August 2026. [E12, E13, E14]
- Disclosures that lag reality. The site still lists CPT Operation Limited in Cyprus, which the Cyprus registry shows struck off on 9 October 2026. In 2025 the site was run by CPT Global Limited under an Anjouan licence that ended on 21 February 2026 and was not renewed. [E19, E20, E21]
- Overstated claims. The homepage promises funds managed under strict regulatory oversight and over 18 years of service, while the licences behind most accounts are offshore or limited and the brand itself started in 2017. [E16, E11, E7]
- What weighs the other way. No regulator warning names cptmarkets.com or its companies, the FCA's clone warnings for this group concern four other websites, the same owner has controlled the UK firm since 2018 and directs the UAE company, and the broker answers most public complaints. [E4, E5, E6, E28]
- How the figure is built. 49% is the weighted average of six scores: regulation 5 and identity 4 at double weight, withdrawal complaints 6 at double weight because the pattern is specific, recent and on two platforms, reputation 5, website claims 6 and history 3. No minimum-risk adjustment applies: the operation is about nine years old and has a large review footprint.

The complainant says the case was escalated to the Belize FSC on 5 August 2026 and remains unresolved.
StrongBrokersView complaintE13BrokersView lists two complaints against CPT Markets: the $40,307 frozen-funds case (replied) and a 16 July 2026 complaint over $5,340 in withheld profits after allegations of scalping and leverage abuse (processing).
ModerateBrokersView broker pageE14Trustpilot's cptmarkets.com page shows 54 reviews, TrustScore 2.4, 59% one-star and 31% five-star, with replies to 83% of negative reviews. In October 2026 one client reports $2,043.13 in profit and rebates removed for alleged bonus arbitrage, and two reviews with identical wording report deductions of $222.54 and $144.54 and a rejected $90 withdrawal; the broker replied citing trading patterns around a CPI release. A June 2025 reviewer quotes a termination notice deducting profits for alleged scalping while returning deposits, and an April 2025 client of CPT Global Limited reports $3,213 in profit removed and the account closed. Short five-star reviews from one-review accounts cluster between February and March 2026.
StrongTrustpilotE15Older Trustpilot reviews mention withdrawals held for KYC for a week (June 2025), account managers pushing for larger deposits (March 2025), a withdrawal received within six hours (June 2024) and a reviewer who removed complaints after receiving $727. One March 2025 complaint concerned a website the broker says is not its own, and another recommended a rival firm, so we did not count either. A burst of short five-star reviews appears in June 2024.
ModerateTrustpilot (page 2)E16The cptmarkets.com homepage says 'Regulated. Secured. E18A search of the UAE CMA list for 20200000245, the licence number printed on the site, returns no company; the CMA finds CPT Mena under reference CP-0001163. The CMA gives its address as Vision Tower, Business Bay, while the site gives Madina Mall, Muhaisanah Fourth.

The other side
The strongest case in this broker’s favour.
The best case for CPT Markets is that it is a real, multi-licensed group that enforces strict trading rules, not a firm that takes deposits and vanishes.
- Every licence on today's site is genuine and active: FSCA since 9 June 2015, Belize FSC licence 6616058 and a UAE CMA Category 5 licence. [E1, E2, E3]
- The group's UK company has held FCA authorisation since 31 July 2014, and the FCA register protects it with warnings against four look-alike websites. [E4]
- Reversing profits from latency arbitrage, bonus abuse or hedging across accounts is standard in the terms of many brokers that run bonuses. In the cases we read, the broker named a specific trading pattern, and one client quotes a June 2025 notice saying deposits would be returned. [E14]
- CPT replies to most public complaints, several reviewers report fast withdrawals, and one reviewer withdrew their complaints after receiving $727. [E14, E15]
- The site has dropped the lapsed Anjouan licence and no longer leans on the FCA name, which is the right direction. [E17, E21]
What would change this
What we would need to see to revise the verdict.
These developments would move our rating.
- Lower risk: the $40,307 and $5,340 disputes settled with funds paid, and the broker publishing clear, specific rules on banned trading strategies that apply before profits are made.
- Lower risk: the site naming which company holds client money, removing struck-off companies, and showing a UAE licence number that matches the register.
- Lower risk: international clients moved to a better-regulated company, such as the FCA-authorised UK firm.
- Higher risk: a regulator warning or enforcement action naming cptmarkets.com, CPT Markets Limited or CPT Global Limited, or a Belize FSC finding on the escalated complaint.
- Higher risk: withdrawal refusals spreading to ordinary accounts without bonuses or high-frequency trading, or any demand for a fee or tax before funds are released.
- Higher risk: the Belize licence lapsing or being suspended, or the FSCA authorisation being withdrawn.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about this broker’s safety.
Is CPT Markets a scam?
We found no evidence that CPT Markets is a scam in the sense of a fake broker. It is a real group with licences confirmed on the Belize FSC, FSCA and UAE CMA registers. We still rate it high risk, at 49%, because international accounts sit with an offshore Belize company and recent complaints describe profits cancelled and funds frozen after the broker alleged abusive trading.
Is CPT Markets a fraud?
No. We found no regulator warning, no enforcement action and no fraud-related court record naming cptmarkets.com, CPT Markets Limited or its sister companies. The FCA's warnings about CPT websites concern clones such as cpttrades.com and cptmarketsig.com. What we did find is a pattern of profit disputes, which is a conduct risk rather than a sign of a fake operation.
Is CPT Markets regulated?
Yes, but by different regulators for different companies. CPT Markets Limited holds Belize FSC licence 6616058 (offshore), CPT Markets (PTY) Ltd is FSCA-authorised FSP 45954 for advice and intermediary services, and CPT Mena Financial Services L.L.C. holds a UAE CMA Category 5 licence for introduction and promotion only. Which one applies depends on the company named in your account agreement.
Is CPT Markets regulated by the FCA?
The FCA authorises CPT Markets UK Limited (FRN 606110), a sister company under the same owner that trades through cptmarkets.co.uk. Accounts opened at cptmarkets.com are not with that company, and the site no longer cites the FCA. FCA protections such as the Financial Ombudsman Service and the FSCS apply only to clients of the UK firm.
Which company holds my money if I open an account at cptmarkets.com?
Outside South Africa, the site's Belize terms point to CPT Markets Limited, a Belize company (no. 155553) licensed by the Belize FSC. South African clients deal with CPT Markets (PTY) Ltd. Check the company named in your own agreement before you deposit.
Can I withdraw my money from CPT Markets?
Many clients report normal withdrawals, some within hours. But between July and October 2026 several clients reported profits deducted, a withdrawal marked 'Not passed' or accounts frozen after the broker alleged scalping, bonus arbitrage or hedging, and others waited about eight days without a reply. Test a small withdrawal first and avoid bonuses.
Why do clients say CPT Markets deducted their profits?
The broker's replies cite trading it treats as abusive: scalping or high-frequency orders, bonus arbitrage, trading around a CPI release and hedging across linked accounts. One client quotes a June 2025 notice saying such profits would be deducted and deposits returned. Clients dispute these findings, and the largest open claim, $40,307, was escalated to the Belize FSC in August 2026, according to the complainant.
Is my money safe with CPT Markets?
Safer than with an unlicensed operator, but less safe than its marketing suggests. The Belize licence gives offshore supervision with no compensation scheme, so in a dispute your recourse is limited to the broker, the Belize FSC and the courts. Keep balances modest and withdraw profits regularly.
What is the Belize FSC licence worth?
It is a real licence from a functioning offshore regulator, and the register shows it active. But Belize supervision is light compared with the FCA or the FSCA, there is no investor compensation scheme, and the safety of client money depends largely on the broker's own practices.
Who owns CPT Markets?
UK and UAE registers point to Zhijian Wang. Companies House records him as the 75%-plus owner of CPT Markets UK Limited, directly since December 2021 and through Allen Market Limited from May 2018, and the UAE CMA lists him as director of CPT Mena Financial Services L.L.C. The Belize company reports to GLEIF that it is owned by natural persons without naming them.
How old is CPT Markets?
The CPT Markets brand and its main domains, cptmarkets.com and cptmarkets.co.uk, were registered on 28 August 2017. The South African company dates from January 2015 and the Belize company from July 2015. The 18 years on the site count from 2008, when the UK sister was incorporated as Azurite Markets Limited under different owners.
What happened to CPT Markets' Anjouan (AOFA) licence?
In 2025 the site said it was operated by CPT Global Limited, licensed by the Anjouan Offshore Finance Authority under L15643/CPTG. The AOFA register shows that licence ended on 21 February 2026 and was not renewed. Today's site no longer cites it and points to the Belize company instead.
Is cptmarkets.com a clone of the FCA-regulated CPT Markets UK?
No. A 2020 blog post made that claim, but the two operations share an owner on the UK and UAE registers, and their domains were registered one second apart on 28 August 2017. The real clones are sites such as cpttrades.com, cpttltd.com, pamcptmarket.com and cptmarketsig.com, which the FCA has warned about.
What should I do if CPT Markets will not release my funds?
Ask CPT in writing for the specific trades and rule it relies on, and keep every email and statement. Then complain to the Belize FSC if your contract is with CPT Markets Limited, or to the FSCA and the FAIS Ombud if it is with the South African company. Never pay a recovery firm or any fee to unlock funds.
What should I check before depositing with CPT Markets?
Confirm the company on your agreement and look it up on the regulator's register yourself. Read the bonus and abusive-trading terms, start small and test a withdrawal early. If you want FCA protection, deal only with the UK firm through cptmarkets.co.uk and check that it accepts you.
What we recommend
The practical takeaway from everything above.
If you trade with CPT Markets or are considering it, treat it as an offshore broker and protect yourself.
- Check which company your account agreement names. Outside South Africa it is CPT Markets Limited in Belize, so FCA and FSCA protections do not apply.
- Decline deposit bonuses. Several recent profit disputes began on bonus accounts, and one client quotes the broker as saying their trading would have been accepted without the bonus.
- Read the abusive-trading terms before you scalp, trade news releases or run linked accounts, and keep statements, emails and ticket numbers.
- Make a small test withdrawal early, to the same method you deposited with, because the broker returns funds to the original source.
- If funds are withheld, complain to CPT in writing, then to the Belize FSC for international accounts or to the FSCA and the FAIS Ombud for South African accounts.
- Ignore anyone who offers to recover your money for a fee, and look for newer reviews first: the latest complaint cluster dates from October 2026.
This is an independent assessment of risk, not a legal ruling. Scores and verdicts follow the Wikilix broker-safety methodology and can change as new evidence appears. Review scores are treated with caution when a broker’s reviews look manipulated. Last reviewed October 21, 2026.
