Is FXNovus a scam?

Likely scamMEDIUM confidence
Updated August 4, 2026
Withdrawal refusal and unauthorised solicitation in Europe

FXNovus is a real South African company with a real but narrow FSCA authorisation, and we still rate it a likely scam: France's financial regulator has blacklisted www.fxnovus.com as an unauthorised website, and clients across two review platforms describe money they could not get back.

  • The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) in France lists www.fxnovus.com on its Forex blacklist of firms not authorised to offer financial services, published 7 May 2025.
  • FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD does hold FSCA licence FSP 50963, and we confirmed it on the FSCA register. It is a Category I advice and intermediary authorisation, not a licence to run a retail CFD dealing book.
  • The CySEC licence 440/23 that circulates with this brand belongs to a sister company, Peaksight Ltd. CySEC's register shows its only approved website is peaksightltd.com, so it does not cover FXNovus clients.
  • Trustpilot shows 321 reviews at 2.2 out of 5 with 56 percent one star. Reviews.io shows 509 reviews at 1.5 out of 5. The recurring theme is funds not returned and pressure to deposit more.
  • Its own terms say it does not serve residents of the European Union, yet a European regulator found it offering forex there.

Risk scorecard

Each area is scored 0 (clean) to 10 (worst). Higher means more risk.

Worst area: Critical
SeverityLowModerateHighCritical

Regulation

7/10 · High

FSCA licence FSP 50963 is genuine and active, but it is a Category I advice and intermediary authorisation rather than a dealing licence, no European licence covers its clients, and the AMF has blacklisted the website.

Identity & transparency

3/10 · Low

The operating company, registration number and registered address are openly published and match the FSCA register exactly, though a second Sandton address also circulates on its own channels.

Withdrawals & conduct

8/10 · Critical

Multiple detailed reports across two platforms over 17 months describe funds not returned, accounts that could not be closed and settlements conditional on waiving all claims, partly offset by the firm replying to most complaints.

Reputation

8/10 · Critical

Trustpilot 2.2 out of 5 across 321 reviews with 56 percent one star, reviews.io 1.5 out of 5 across 509 reviews, plus a regulator blacklist entry and a run of formulaic lukewarm reviews from single-review accounts.

Website claims

7/10 · High

Presents a limited advice and intermediary authorisation as making it a regulated CFD trading company, publishes no link to the register, and states it does not serve the European Union while a European regulator found it soliciting there.

Operational history

2/10 · Low

About five years of continuous operation under one brand with company registration, licence date and domain creation all consistent, which is a genuine mitigating factor.

Who they are

A quick desk file on the company behind the brand.

  • Brand: FXNovus, a CFD broker using its own WebTrader platform and mobile app, with no MT4 or MT5.
  • Legal entity: FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD, company registration number 2020/183344/07.
  • Registered: South Africa. The FSCA register records the address as 1 Casino Road, Founders Hill, Modderfontein Estate, Johannesburg 1609.
  • Website: www.fxnovus.com, with fxnovus.io as a mirror and lp.fxnovus.com used as a sign-up landing page.
  • Only licence: FSCA (South Africa) FSP 50963, authorised 9 April 2021, Category I advice and intermediary services.
  • Offers: more than 160 CFDs on forex, indices, shares, commodities, metals and crypto, leverage up to 1:400, minimum deposit 250 USD.
  • Not accepted: its own documents say residents of the European Union and of South Africa are not served. The sign-up landing page lists a shorter set of exclusions, including the United States, Canada, Australia and Turkey.
  • Age claim: the company was registered in 2020, the FSCA licence dates from April 2021 and the domain was created on 20 October 2021. The timeline is consistent.

Licences the broker publishes

FSCA

VerifiedTier 2Intermediary onlyAdvice-only
A genuine South African FAIS licence held by FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD, confirmed active on the FSCA register. It is a Category I authorisation for advice and intermediary services covering derivative instruments, deposits, long-term insurance subcategory A and friendly society benefits. It is not a dealing or market-making licence and it does not authorise the firm to act as counterparty to client CFD trades. There is no client compensation fund behind it, and the broker states it does not serve South African residents, so the regulator that issued it has almost none of this broker's clients to protect.
Protection: Low in practice. Advice and intermediary authorisation only, no compensation scheme, and no South African clients within the regulator's reach.Official register

VerifiedTier 2Limited relevance
A genuine Cyprus Investment Firm licence, but it belongs to Peaksight Ltd, a separate company in the same group, licensed on 11 December 2023 and based in Limassol. CySEC's register lists www.peaksightltd.com as its approved website. fxnovus.com is not on that record, so this licence, its MiFID protections and the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund do not extend to FXNovus clients. FXNovus does not claim this licence in its own legal documents, but the association is repeated widely in third-party material about the brand.
Protection: None for FXNovus clients. The licence covers Peaksight Ltd and its own approved website only.Official register

Why we reached this verdict

How the evidence adds up.

Three things decided this, and the first one is the strongest.

  • A European regulator has named this exact website. The AMF in France publishes a blacklist of sites offering forex without authorisation. www.fxnovus.com is on it, in the Forex category, published 7 May 2025. The entry states plainly that this operator is not authorised by the AMF to offer financial services or investments in France.
  • The licence it advertises is not the licence its business needs. We searched the FSCA register for FSP 50963. The record is genuine and active in the name FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD, with the matching company number and address. But the approved products show a Category I authorisation for advice and intermediary services only, covering derivative instruments, deposits, long-term insurance and friendly society benefits. There is no authorisation on the record to act as the counterparty to clients' derivative trades, which is what a firm operating its own CFD platform does. The site nonetheless describes itself simply as a regulated CFD trading company.
  • No European licence covers its clients. CySEC licence 440/23 belongs to Peaksight Ltd, licensed on 11 December 2023, and CySEC lists www.peaksightltd.com as its approved website. fxnovus.com is not on that record. Being part of the same group is not the same as being covered by the group's licence.
  • Client reports point the same way, on more than one platform and over more than a year. On Trustpilot, one client describes being unable to withdraw, then being offered a small settlement conditional on signing away all claims before any payment. Another describes a lead coming from a fake news article about AI trading, a call within seconds, a chain of account managers, and pressure to borrow money to deposit more. Others write that the company will not give money back, or that an account could not be closed for almost a year. Reviews.io shows 509 reviews averaging 1.5 with a 9 percent recommendation rate and the same withdrawal and refund themes.
  • Its own words conflict with its conduct. The website footer says services are not offered to residents of the European Union. A European regulator found the site offering forex in France anyway.

We stopped short of calling this a confirmed scam for one reason: the operator is a real, named, traceable South African company with a genuine FSCA record. That is a meaningful difference from an anonymous fake, and it is why the verdict is likely rather than confirmed.

The other side

The strongest case in this broker’s favour.

Here is the strongest honest case in FXNovus's favour.

  • The company and its licence are real. We opened the FSCA register ourselves. FSP 50963 is active, in the exact name FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD, with the same company number and the same registered address the broker publishes. Nothing is fabricated and nothing is borrowed from another firm.
  • It is not a clone. We looked for a well-known firm being impersonated and found none. The brand, the entity, the address and the licence number all belong to the same operation. The clone label this broker previously carried does not hold up.
  • The age story checks out. Company registered 2020, licence April 2021, domain October 2021. Firms that lie about their history usually fail this test. This one passes it.
  • There is a genuinely EU-licensed sister company. Peaksight Ltd really does hold CySEC licence 440/23. The group is not inventing a regulator out of thin air, it is simply keeping the two client bases apart.
  • It answers complaints. Trustpilot records replies to 96 percent of negative reviews, usually within a day, and some clients describe issues that were eventually resolved. A number of reviewers report helpful support and a straightforward sign-up.
  • The AMF blacklist is about permission, not proof of theft. Being unauthorised in France means the firm should not solicit French residents. It is not, on its own, a finding that client money was stolen.

We weighed all of this. It lowers the verdict from confirmed to likely. It does not clear the broker, because a real licence that does not cover the business being sold, plus a regulator blacklist, plus a sustained pattern of people unable to get their money out, still adds up to serious risk.

What would change this

What we would need to see to revise the verdict.

These are the specific findings that would move our verdict, in either direction.

  • Removal from the AMF blacklist. If the AMF withdrew the www.fxnovus.com entry, the single hardest piece of evidence would disappear and we would reassess immediately.
  • An FSCA authorisation that fits the business. An over-the-counter derivative provider licence, or an FSCA record showing authorisation to act as counterparty to client CFD trades, would remove our main regulatory objection.
  • fxnovus.com appearing on Peaksight Ltd's CySEC record. If CySEC listed this website among the approved domains of licence 440/23, European clients would have real protection and the score would fall sharply.
  • Evidence that withdrawals work at scale. A run of verifiable, dated payout confirmations from independent clients, and a visible drop in one-star fund-access complaints, would push this toward a high-risk-but-operating rating.
  • Confirmed enforcement action. A published FSCA or other regulator decision, a court judgment, or a second regulator naming the domain would take this to a confirmed scam verdict.
  • Proof the complaints were planted. If the withdrawal reports turned out to be coordinated or fabricated, we would drop that part of the case.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this broker’s safety.

12 questions
Is FXNovus a scam?

We rate FXNovus a likely scam. The French regulator AMF has blacklisted www.fxnovus.com as an unauthorised website, and clients on two separate review platforms describe money they could not withdraw. The company itself is real and does hold a South African licence, which is why we say likely rather than confirmed.

Is FXNovus regulated?

Partly. FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD holds FSCA licence FSP 50963 in South Africa, which we confirmed on the FSCA register. It is a Category I authorisation for advice and intermediary services. We found no authorisation on the record permitting the firm to act as counterparty to client CFD trades, which is what running its own trading platform involves.

Does FXNovus have a CySEC licence?

No. CySEC licence 440/23 belongs to Peaksight Ltd, a sister company licensed on 11 December 2023. CySEC's register lists www.peaksightltd.com as its approved website. fxnovus.com does not appear on that record, so the Cypriot licence and its investor compensation fund do not cover FXNovus clients.

Can I withdraw my money from FXNovus?

Some clients report normal service, but a sustained stream of reviewers from early 2025 through mid 2026 say they could not get funds out. One describes a settlement offer conditional on signing a full release before any payment. Assume withdrawal is difficult and document everything you do.

Is my money safe with FXNovus?

We would not treat it as safe. The licence it holds is an advice and intermediary authorisation, it excludes South African residents from its services, and there is no European licence covering its clients, so there is no compensation scheme behind your deposit.

Who owns FXNovus?

The operating company is FXNOVUS (PTY) LTD, registration number 2020/183344/07, registered in South Africa at 1 Casino Road, Founders Hill, Modderfontein Estate, Johannesburg. The brand is presented as part of a group that also includes Peaksight Ltd in Cyprus, Modmount Services and Newblock Trading. Individual owners are not published on the site.

How old is FXNovus?

The company was registered in South Africa in 2020, the FSCA licence was granted on 9 April 2021 and the fxnovus.com domain was created on 20 October 2021. That is roughly five years of operation, and the dates are consistent with each other.

What is an FSCA Category I licence worth to me as a client?

A Category I FAIS licence lets a firm give advice and act as an intermediary. It is not a licence to run a market-making or dealing book, and it carries no client compensation fund. Since FXNovus states it does not serve South African residents, the regulator that issued the licence has very few, if any, of its clients to protect.

Why is FXNovus on the AMF blacklist?

The AMF publishes a list of websites offering forex services in France without authorisation. www.fxnovus.com was added on 7 May 2025 in the Forex category. It means French residents were being offered services the firm has no European authorisation to provide.

Is FXNovus a clone of another broker?

No. We checked for a well-known firm being impersonated and found none. The brand, the legal entity, the company number, the registered address and the licence number all belong to the same operation, so the clone label does not fit this broker.

What should I do if I lost money with FXNovus?

Put a full withdrawal request in writing and keep every reply. Contact your bank or card issuer about a dispute or chargeback. Report the firm to your national financial regulator, and to the FSCA in South Africa quoting FSP 50963. Do not pay anyone who offers to recover your funds for an upfront fee.

What should I check before depositing with any broker?

Find the licence number, then search the regulator's own register for it and read the fine print: the exact company name, the status, and what the licence actually permits. Check that your own country is covered, look for warning-list entries naming the website, and read the one-star reviews for withdrawal complaints rather than the star average alone.

What we recommend

The practical takeaway from everything above.

Our advice

Do not deposit money with FXNovus. If you already have funds there, act now rather than later.

  • Stop depositing. Ignore any account manager who says more money is needed to recover a loss, to unlock a withdrawal, or to hit a deadline. That request is the pattern clients complain about most.
  • Request a full withdrawal in writing. Email support@fxnovus.com, keep every reply, and take screenshots of your balance and trade history before anything changes.
  • Be careful with settlement offers. At least one client reports being asked to sign a full release and drop complaints before receiving any payment. Take independent legal advice before signing anything like that.
  • Complain to the regulator that actually covers you. South African clients and anyone dealing with FSP 50963 can complain to the FSCA. French residents should report to the AMF, which already lists this site. Clients elsewhere should file with their national financial regulator.
  • Ask your bank or card issuer about a chargeback, and report card or transfer payments as disputed transactions with your evidence attached.
  • Do not use fund-recovery services that approach you. Victims of brokers are routinely targeted a second time by people charging upfront fees to get money back.
