Pay or take out cash in a currency your mBank card does not hold, and mBank adds 5.9% to the amount. Switching on its multicurrency service cuts that to 3.5%. The number is a footnote on page 13 of an 86 page price list.
Why this matters
A 1,000 zł withdrawal on holiday costs you 59 zł before the local ATM adds anything of its own. Only the Visa Podróże and Visa Świat Intensive cards escape the charge, and the account page you ordered your card from does not mention it.
Exhibit 1Every flagged clause gets its own number so you can point at this one. The number does not change, so a link to it keeps working.WarningHow much this clause can cost you, in our reading. Critical can take your money or your profit. Warning can delay or limit it. Notice is simply worth knowing before you sign.Harder than usualHow ordinary this wording looks next to the contracts we read. This is our reading of the clause, not a count of other brokers.5.9%The figure this clause puts a number on, taken from the broker's own words.
5,9% od wartości transakcji lub 3,5% od wartości transakcji dla transakcji kartą z włączoną usługą wielowalutową
What it costsThe same clause worked out on a round number, so you can see it in money or in days. It is an example, not a quotation.A cash withdrawal abroad worth 1,000 zł costs 59 zł in conversion commission. With the multicurrency service switched on, the same withdrawal costs 35 zł.
- Worse together with Exhibit 2Read these two clauses together. Each one costs more because the other exists. The Ukrainian language account cannot switch on the multicurrency service that would halve this charge.
