Summary of the broker
Mergers of Life Insurance Companies
Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company is a large life insurance company in Japan that was formed from the merger of two long-standing companies, Meiji Life (established in 1881) and Yasuda Mutual Life (established in 1880), on April 1, 2004. With the merger, Meiji Yasuda now has more than 6 million customers and 49,000 employees in total.
Meiji Yasuda offers many different kinds of life insurance products including death benefits, pension products and education products. In addition to an emphasis on health and wellness, Meiji Yasuda is rapidly expanding internationally. Meiji Yasuda's first major international investment was the acquisition of StanCorp Financial Group based in the United States in 2016.
Meiji Yasuda operates as a mutual insurance company under the supervision of the Japan Financial Services Authority (FSA) and complies with all insurance laws in Japan. Meiji Yasuda does not act as a broker-dealer and as a result does not provide any trading platforms, spreads or leverage. In addition, Meiji Yasuda is investing heavily in new digital products and services including the introduction of a mobile application called Meister for agents starting in 2014 and is creating an online management system for customers to manage their policies.
Insurance fees will be included in the cost of your insurance premium, and the fees will not be disclosed to the public. Because of the size and long history of both Meiji Life and Yasuda Mutual Life, Meiji Yasuda has developed a strong brand reputation in the life insurance marketplace; it has been a major sponsor of the J1 League since 2015.
Meiji Yasuda has committed itself to sustainability, digitalization, and promoting healthy lifestyles while building on its already substantial investments in private equity in New York City and Tokyo.
