Why we reached this verdict
How the evidence adds up.
PrimeXBT is a real operation and its identity checks out on official registers, which rules out a clone. But its licences cover only part of the business, and several regulators have named it for operating without authorisation.
- The licences are genuine. The FSCA register lists PRIMEXBT (PTY) LTD as FSP 45697, status Authorized, at the same Gordons Bay address the site shows. El Salvador's CNAD lists PRIME XBT TRADING SERVICES, S.A. DE C.V. as in force under PSAD-0045, with primexbt.com/es as its website. The Seychelles FSA lists PXBT Trading Ltd, the CFD market maker named in PrimeXBT's FAIS disclosure.
- The strongest licence is narrow. The FSCA authorisation covers advice and intermediary services. PrimeXBT's own South African terms say the company accepts South African residents only and is not the counterparty to trades.
- Most clients deal with an unlicensed company. The global terms make Prime XBT Trading Services Ltd the contracting party, and it is a Saint Lucia company with no financial licence. The homepage still tells visitors that PrimeXBT is licensed and regulated.
- Four regulators have named the site. AMF France blacklisted www.primexbt.com on 7 June 2021. CONSOB ordered access from Italy blocked in December 2021, naming PrimeXBT Trading Services LLC. CNMV warned about primexbt.com/es in April 2020. The Securities Commission Malaysia listed PrimeXBT and its apps as unlicensed in August 2025. These are findings of unauthorised activity, not of fraud.
- The complaints show a pattern, but only on one platform. Through 2026, about 20 Trustpilot reviewers described problems with their money. Some made UPI deposits through local payment agents that were debited but never credited. Others had profits removed for alleged abusive trading, or withdrawals left pending. The terms let PrimeXBT withhold profits and reject withdrawals it considers abusive. PrimeXBT replies to most of these reviews in public.
- The reviews cannot be taken at face value. Trustpilot withholds PrimeXBT's rating for a breach of its guidelines and says it removed fake reviews. The remaining 417 reviews are 47% five-star and 30% one-star.
- Its history is real. The brand has run on primexbt.com since August 2018, so the advertised 2018 start holds up. The South African company dates from 2013, but it only became part of PrimeXBT when the group bought it in 2024.
- Clients have less recourse than before. PrimeXBT left the Financial Commission dispute scheme voluntarily on 29 May 2026, so that body no longer takes complaints about it.
- Weighed together, the evidence gives a risk score of 48%. That is high, but it comes from weak protection and regulator warnings, not from proof that client money was taken.

The other side
The strongest case in this broker’s favour.
The case for PrimeXBT is that it behaves like an established offshore broker, not a fly-by-night operation.
- Its South African, El Salvador, Seychelles and Mauritius entities all appear on the relevant official registers. The names and addresses match the broker's own documents.
- It publishes its company structure in detail, including registration numbers, the market makers behind each product and the liquidity providers it uses.
- The brand has used the same domain continuously since 2018. Its official Android app has more than 1 million downloads and a 4.3 rating from about 9,500 reviews.
- Three of the four regulator warnings date from 2020 and 2021, before the group added its South African, El Salvador and Mauritius entities. None of the four alleges fraud.
- Many of the deposit complaints involve third-party UPI payment agents in India, and PrimeXBT answers most negative reviews in public.
- Some losses blamed on PrimeXBT come from impersonators. Washington State's financial regulator documented a 2026 case run through PrimeXBTUS.com, a site PrimeXBT did not operate.
What would change this
What we would need to see to revise the verdict.
Our assessment would move on concrete evidence, not on reputation.
- Lower risk: clients outside South Africa moved to a licensed entity, such as the Mauritius dealer, with the terms updated to say so.
- Lower risk: the regulators in France, Italy, Spain or Malaysia withdrawing their warnings, or PrimeXBT getting authorised in those countries.
- Lower risk: independent dispute resolution restored, and the 2026 UPI deposit cases visibly resolved.
- Higher risk: the FSCA suspending or withdrawing FSP 45697, or any regulator alleging fraud by a PrimeXBT entity.
- Higher risk: refused withdrawals documented on two or more independent platforms in the same period, or any demand for a fee to release funds.
- Higher risk: proof that the Seychelles FSA notice about primexbt-trading.com concerns a PrimeXBT group company.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about this broker’s safety.
Is PrimeXBT a scam?
We found no evidence that PrimeXBT is a scam. It is a real group with a South African FSCA licence and a track record back to 2018, and its identity checks out on official registers. We still rate it high risk, because most clients contract with an unlicensed Saint Lucia company and four regulators have warned about it.
Is PrimeXBT a fraud?
We found no evidence of fraud. No regulator or court has accused PrimeXBT of fraud. The regulator warnings that name primexbt.com are about offering services without local authorisation.
Is PrimeXBT regulated?
Partly. PRIMEXBT (PTY) LTD is Authorized by South Africa's FSCA as FSP 45697, for intermediary services to South African residents. Its El Salvador company is registered with CNAD under PSAD-0045, and its CFD market maker holds a Seychelles licence. The Saint Lucia company that signs up clients in other countries holds no financial licence.
Which PrimeXBT company will I be dealing with?
That depends on where you live. South African residents contract with PrimeXBT (PTY) LTD. Everyone else contracts with Prime XBT Trading Services Ltd in Saint Lucia, with crypto services from a Costa Rica company and CFDs booked with PXBT Trading Ltd in Seychelles.
Why have regulators warned about PrimeXBT?
Four regulators named primexbt.com for offering financial services in their countries without authorisation: France's AMF (June 2021), Italy's CONSOB (December 2021), Spain's CNMV (April 2020) and Malaysia's Securities Commission (August 2025). The warnings do not allege fraud, but they mean residents of those countries have no local protection.
Can I withdraw my money from PrimeXBT?
Many users do. In 2026, though, Trustpilot reviewers reported withdrawals left pending, profits removed for alleged abusive trading, and UPI deposits that were never credited. The terms let PrimeXBT reject withdrawals or withhold profits it considers abusive, so try a small withdrawal first.
Is my money safe with PrimeXBT?
Protection is limited. Outside South Africa, no financial regulator oversees the company that holds your account, and there is no compensation scheme. Since 29 May 2026, the Financial Commission no longer handles PrimeXBT complaints either.
Who owns PrimeXBT and where is it based?
The website is owned by PrimeXBT (PTY) LTD of Gordons Bay, South Africa, but the group does not name its shareholders. The group has companies in South Africa, Saint Lucia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Seychelles and Mauritius.
How long has PrimeXBT been operating?
Since 2018. The primexbt.com domain was registered on 28 August 2018, and regulators were already issuing warnings about the site in 2020.
Is PrimeXBTUS.com or markets-primexbt.pro the real PrimeXBT?
No. In March 2026, Washington State's financial regulator described PrimeXBTUS.com as an apparent impersonation of PrimeXBT. markets-primexbt.pro copies PrimeXBT's site on a domain the company does not list. Use only primexbt.com and the official apps.
What are the Seychelles and Mauritius licences worth?
They are genuine offshore licences held by sister companies, PXBT Trading Ltd and PXBT Capital Ltd. Offshore supervision is light and there is no compensation scheme, so they protect clients far less than a top-tier licence does.
What should I do if my deposit or withdrawal is stuck?
Collect your transaction IDs, bank or UPI references and chat records, then file a written complaint with PrimeXBT support. South African clients can escalate to the FAIS Ombud. Others should contact their bank or card issuer and their local regulator. Avoid recovery services that ask for upfront fees.
Does PrimeXBT accept clients from the US or UK?
No. PrimeXBT's terms exclude residents of the USA, the UK, Canada, Japan and several other countries.
What we recommend
The practical takeaway from everything above.
If you use PrimeXBT, know which company holds your money and keep your exposure small.
- Check which company your account agreement names. South African residents should see PrimeXBT (PTY) LTD, FSP 45697. Everyone else contracts with the Saint Lucia company, which has no financial licence.
- Check whether your own regulator has warned about PrimeXBT. France, Italy, Spain and Malaysia have.
- Avoid paying through local payment agents or QR codes that send your money to a third-party company name. Keep every transaction reference.
- Make a small test withdrawal before you deposit more. Read the bonus and rewards terms too, because they let PrimeXBT cancel profits it considers abusive.
- Use only primexbt.com and the official apps. Ignore WhatsApp or Telegram contacts who offer a US or VIP version of PrimeXBT.
- South African clients can take unresolved complaints to the FAIS Ombud. The Financial Commission no longer handles PrimeXBT cases.
