Is Pruton Capital a scam?

Confirmed scamHIGH confidence
Updated August 24, 2026
Managed-account fund fraud and withdrawal trap (now collapsed)

Yes. Pruton Capital was a real Indonesian futures broker that collapsed into a fund-theft operation, and its Indonesian licence has been withdrawn by the regulator. Do not send it money.

  • The only trading licence it ever advertised, BAPPEBTI number 12/BAPPEBTI/SI/02/2013, now sits on BAPPEBTI's public list of futures brokers whose licence has been revoked.
  • Three separate regulators have flagged the Pruton group: Bank Negara Malaysia (24 February 2017), the Securities Commission Malaysia, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, whose alert names prutoncapital.com itself.
  • A Forex Peace Army Traders Court case against prutoncapital.com ended in a guilty verdict by 78 votes to nil, with police reports attached.
  • Clients were told to deposit a further 5,000 US dollars before their money could be released, then saw every account drained to a negative balance. The same wipeout happened again in December 2019 and was blamed on hackers.
  • Both websites are now dead. They lapsed and were picked up by domain parking services, so nothing at either address today is the broker.

Regulation

9/10 · Critical

The one genuine licence, BAPPEBTI 12/BAPPEBTI/SI/02/2013, is on the regulator's revoked list, and three separate regulators in Malaysia and Singapore carry alerts against the group.

Identity & transparency

8/10 · Critical

Real named entities and a real Jakarta office on the regulator's record, but the website disclosed no legal entity or licence in its footer and client money went to a Singapore account of a different group company on invoices describing software.

Withdrawals & conduct

10/10 · Critical

Fund-integrity failure confirmed twice: a further deposit demanded before matured funds were released, then all accounts drained to negative in August 2016 and again in December 2019, with police reports and a guilty Traders Court verdict.

Reputation

9/10 · Critical

Traders Court guilty verdict 78 to nil against the domain, an unresolved multi-year complaint pattern across platforms, three regulator alerts, and no positive review footprint anywhere.

Website claims

9/10 · Critical

Promised immediate withdrawal on demand while refusing withdrawals, called itself a leading regulated broker while naming no regulator or entity in its footer, and advertised business since 2006 against a 2013 licence and a 2016 website.

Operational history

8/10 · Critical

A genuine operating span of roughly 2013 to 2020 is credited, but it ended in licence revocation and collapse with client funds outstanding, and the advertised age overstated the evidenced one by about seven years.

Who they are

A quick desk file on the company behind the brand.

The desk file on this operation.

  • Brand: Pruton Capital, also traded as PTFX.
  • Legal entity: a group, not one company. The broker's own company profile named PT Pruton Mega Berjangka, PT Pruton Mega Global, PT Pruton Mega Futures Limited and PTFX. The licensed one was PT Pruton Mega Berjangka.
  • Registered: Menara Standard Chartered, 32nd floor, Jl. Prof. DR. Satrio Kav. 164, Jakarta 12930, Indonesia, as recorded by BAPPEBTI.
  • Website: prutoncapital.com and pruton-futures.com. Both are dead and now parked by third parties.
  • Only licence: BAPPEBTI 12/BAPPEBTI/SI/02/2013, issued February 2013, since revoked.
  • Offers: forex, gold and silver, energy, indices and share CFDs on MetaTrader 4, plus a managed account product called Mirror Trade and a scheme sold as the Hybrid Secured Fund.
  • Not accepted: it had no permission to solicit clients in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Thailand or Pakistan, yet advertised offices in all of them.
  • Age claim: the site said established in 2006. The licence dates from 2013 and the website first appears in 2016.

Regulation

Who really oversees this broker, and what each licence is worth to you.

No proof found

Proof of regulation on an official register: No

We could not confirm this broker on any genuine regulator’s register.

Licences the broker publishes

BAPPEBTI (Badan Pengawas Perdagangan Berjangka Komoditi), Indonesia

Revoked. Listed on BAPPEBTI's public register of futures brokers whose licence has been withdrawn.Tier 3
Indonesia's statutory commodity futures regulator. A real domestic futures brokerage licence, valid only for business conducted in Indonesia and giving no protection to clients recruited abroad.
Protection: None today. The licence has been withdrawn, so there is no supervision, no segregated-account requirement and no compensation route through it.

Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX)

Ceased. The underlying BAPPEBTI licence has been revoked and the business is defunct. Not confirmed on the exchange's own member list. Not a forex licence
An exchange membership, not a licence from a financial regulator. It permitted the firm to trade on the exchange while its BAPPEBTI licence was live.
Protection: None. Exchange membership never protected client deposits, and it cannot survive the withdrawal of the underlying brokerage licence.

Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (Indonesian Derivatives Clearing House)

Ceased with the withdrawal of the brokerage licence. Not confirmed on the clearing house's own member list. Not a forex licence
Membership of a clearing house. This is settlement infrastructure, not financial regulation, and the broker presented it alongside its licence as though it were a further credential.
Protection: None in itself. Clearing membership required Indonesian client funds to sit at designated banks, but it never covered clients recruited outside Indonesia.

Why we reached this verdict

How the evidence adds up.

Four findings decide this, and each one comes from a primary record we opened.

  • The licence is dead, at the regulator's own hand. We searched BAPPEBTI's register of futures brokers whose licence has been withdrawn. PT Pruton Mega Berjangka is on it, with licence number 12/BAPPEBTI/SI/02/2013 and the Jakarta address above. That is the exact number the broker printed on its own company profile page. A regulator does not withdraw a brokerage licence for paperwork.
  • Three regulators warned the public about this group. Bank Negara Malaysia added Pruton Mega Holding Limited to its Financial Consumer Alert List on 24 February 2017. The Securities Commission Malaysia lists the same entity together with Pruton FX and Pruton Investment Holding Limited. The Monetary Authority of Singapore's investor alert names Pruton Capital and the address prutoncapital.com directly.
  • The money did not come back, and clients were asked to pay more first. In the Traders Court case against prutoncapital.com, Malaysian investors describe depositing 50,000, 30,000, 15,000 and 10,000 US dollars into a Standard Chartered account in Singapore held by Pruton Mega Holding Limited. Invoices were dressed up as software purchases to get around Malaysian currency rules. When the nine-month term matured, they were told to add another 5,000 dollars per account before anything would be paid. Some paid 3,000. Weeks later, on 9 August 2016, a pair of trades in one illiquid stock CFD stopped out every account and left them all negative. Nobody answered the emails. Police reports were filed. The panel voted guilty 78 to nil.
  • It happened again, the same way. On 19 December 2019 every mirror trade account was wiped to a negative balance and the company said it had been hacked. Complaints from that window are specific: a 10,000 dollar withdrawal requested in October and never paid, withdrawals stalled three months and blamed on a third-party check, support unreachable. Same failure, same mechanism, three years apart.

Against that, the marketing said the opposite. The homepage promised immediate withdrawal whenever you request it, and called itself a leading regulated broker while its footer named no regulator, no licence number and no legal entity at all. The claim of business since 2006 is seven years older than the licence and ten years older than the website.

One limit worth stating plainly. We could not date the incorporation of the Indonesian company, and neither domain's original registration can be recovered because both lapsed and were re-registered by domain parking firms, prutoncapital.com as recently as 12 August 2026. So the operating span we can evidence, roughly 2013 to 2020, rests on the licence and the archived site rather than on registry records.

The other side

The strongest case in this broker’s favour.

The fair case for the other side, and it is not nothing.

  • This was not a fake broker or a clone. PT Pruton Mega Berjangka genuinely held a BAPPEBTI licence from February 2013, and the licence number on the website was its own. It is on the regulator's records under its own name and its own Jakarta address.
  • It was a full member of the Jakarta Futures Exchange and of the Indonesian clearing house, and Indonesian domestic clients' funds were meant to sit in segregated accounts at clearing-house designated banks. The local business had real supervision for several years.
  • The office was real. Menara Standard Chartered on Jl. Prof. DR. Satrio is a genuine Jakarta tower, and the address on the regulator's register matches the one the company published.
  • Some of what went wrong looks like a business failing rather than a plan. Leveraged CFD accounts can genuinely be stopped out, and a broker that loses its exchange membership can collapse without every director having intended fraud.
  • When BAPPEBTI withdrew the licence it kept the company on the hook for client claims, so former clients are not without a formal route.

What defeats it: a firm that merely fails does not demand a further deposit before releasing matured funds, does not route Malaysian clients' money to a Singapore account of a different group company on invoices describing software, and does not get named by three regulators in two countries. The 2016 episode and the 2019 episode share a mechanism, which is what separates a collapse from a design.

What would change this

What we would need to see to revise the verdict.

We would revisit this if any of the following turned up.

  • BAPPEBTI restoring PT Pruton Mega Berjangka to its active futures broker register, or confirming the revocation was reversed on appeal.
  • Bank Negara Malaysia, the Securities Commission Malaysia and MAS all removing the Pruton entries from their alert lists.
  • Evidence that the Traders Court complainants were in fact paid, or a documented settlement of the 2019 mirror trade losses.
  • A court or regulator finding that the August 2016 and December 2019 account wipeouts were genuine market or security events rather than something done to client accounts.
  • A new operator relaunching the brand under a different licensed entity, with proof that ownership, company and infrastructure are severed from the old one. Note that a relaunch alone would not clear this history.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this broker’s safety.

13 questions
Is Pruton Capital a scam?

Yes, on the evidence. Its Indonesian licence has been revoked by BAPPEBTI, three regulators in Malaysia and Singapore have issued alerts naming the Pruton group, and a Forex Peace Army Traders Court panel found against prutoncapital.com by 78 votes to nil. Clients were asked for extra deposits before withdrawals and then saw their balances wiped.

Is Pruton Capital regulated?

No, not any more. It held a genuine BAPPEBTI licence, number 12/BAPPEBTI/SI/02/2013, issued in February 2013. That licence now appears on BAPPEBTI's public list of futures brokers whose licence has been withdrawn. There is no other licence behind the brand.

Can I still withdraw my money?

Not through the company. Both websites are dead and the business is defunct. Former Indonesian clients can pursue a claim through BAPPEBTI, because the revocation did not remove the company's responsibility for client claims. Clients elsewhere should go to their own regulator and the police.

Was my money ever safe with them?

Indonesian domestic client funds were supposed to be held in segregated accounts at banks designated by the Indonesian clearing house. But investors recruited abroad were told to wire money to a Singapore bank account in the name of a different group company, which sits outside that protection entirely.

Who owned Pruton Capital?

It was a group rather than a single company. The broker's own company profile listed PT Pruton Mega Berjangka, PT Pruton Mega Global, PT Pruton Mega Futures Limited and PTFX. Malaysian regulators separately named Pruton Mega Holding Limited, Pruton FX and Pruton Investment Holding Limited.

How old was Pruton Capital really?

Its website claimed the business was established in 2006. The BAPPEBTI licence dates from February 2013 and the earliest copy of the website we can find is from 2016. The evidenced operating span is roughly 2013 to 2020, not twenty years.

What was the Hybrid Secured Fund?

A managed account scheme sold to Malaysian investors, promising monthly returns of 3 to 15 percent over a nine-month term during which no withdrawal was permitted, with a minimum of 10,000 US dollars. Promised monthly returns at that level are a classic warning sign, and this scheme is the subject of the guilty Traders Court verdict.

What happened in December 2019?

On 19 December 2019 every MetaTrader 4 mirror trade account was reported to have gone to a negative balance. The company said it had been hacked and its chief executive posted a video apology. Clients who had already been waiting months for withdrawals were left with nothing.

Is Pruton Capital a clone of another broker?

No. This is not impersonation. The company used its own real legal entities, its own real Jakarta address and its own genuine licence number. The problem is what it did with them, not whose identity it borrowed.

The website prutoncapital.com loads something now. Is the broker back?

No. The domain lapsed and was re-registered by a domain monetisation firm on 12 August 2026, and it currently redirects off-site. pruton-futures.com is likewise parked. Anything at those addresses today has no connection to the former broker.

Why is the same group on Malaysian and Singaporean warning lists?

Because its only licence was a domestic Indonesian one, but it advertised offices across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China, Hong Kong and Pakistan and recruited clients there. Bank Negara Malaysia listed it in February 2017, the Securities Commission Malaysia lists it too, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore's alert names prutoncapital.com.

Someone offered to recover my Pruton losses for a fee. Should I pay?

No. Upfront-fee recovery offers aimed at victims of collapsed brokers are almost always a second fraud. Legitimate regulators and police do not charge a fee to take your complaint. Report the approach rather than paying it.

What should I check before depositing with any broker?

Find the licence number, then look it up on the regulator's own register rather than trusting the broker's website. Check whether the licence is current and covers the country you live in, confirm the company receiving your money is the licensed one, and search the exact domain name for complaints.

What we recommend

The practical takeaway from everything above.

Our advice

Treat any site or person using this name as a live risk, even though the original business is gone.

  • Do not deposit. There is no valid licence anywhere behind this brand.
  • Ignore anything now at prutoncapital.com or pruton-futures.com. Both lapsed and are held by domain parking services, so whatever appears there is unconnected to the former broker and may be repurposed by anyone.
  • Be careful of the name resurfacing. Brands with a collapsed client book are attractive to reuse, and PTFX branding circulated widely in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
  • If you lost money: former Indonesian clients can pursue claims through BAPPEBTI, since the revocation did not extinguish the company's liability to clients. Malaysian and Singaporean victims should report to Bank Negara Malaysia, the Securities Commission Malaysia or MAS, and to the police, as earlier victims did.
  • Refuse any offer to recover these funds for an upfront fee. Collapsed broker client lists are the standard hunting ground for recovery fraud.
