Top 10 FSCA Regulated Brokers by WIKILIX Score

The ten highest-scoring brokers in the WIKILIX database holding a licence from South Africa's Financial Sector Conduct Authority, chosen from the 56 that qualify and ordered by score alone. What the score covers, and what it does not, is stated on the page.

Updated September 2026

Ten brokers, ordered by the WIKILIX score, drawn from the 56 in our database that hold a licence recorded against South Africa's Financial Sector Conduct Authority and score 50 or higher. The spread across the ten is wide: HoxtonWealth sits at 80 and tenth-placed SuperForex at 61.8, against a median of 57.3 across the whole qualifying pool. Four of those 56 firms are South African companies. The other 52 hold an FSCA licence and are headquartered somewhere else.

How this ranking was built

One query produced the pool: every broker holding an FSCA licence with a score of 50 or above. That returned 56 firms. From those we dropped the 14 carrying a status label other than a clean one, then took the ten highest scores and left them in that order. The order is the score, descending. Nothing else decides it.

The WIKILIX score is built from what we hold on record about a firm: the licences recorded against it, how long it has been operating, how complete its regulatory and company detail is, and the status label our researchers have applied. It is not a review. It does not measure execution quality and it says nothing about what a trade will cost you.

Two figures from the pool are worth carrying into the list. Forty-eight of the 56 also hold a licence from at least one tier-1 authority, the FCA, ASIC, MAS or CNMV in these records, so an FSCA licence is rarely the only thing standing behind one of these firms. Nineteen hold licences from five or more authorities, and FXTIME and SuperForex each carry nine.

Why the FSCA sits in tier two

WIKILIX classifies the Financial Sector Conduct Authority as a tier-2 authority. Tier two is not a warning. It describes a regulator with a public register and real enforcement powers, but without the retail compensation arrangements and the leverage ceiling that define the tier-1 regimes. The leverage recorded across this pool makes that concrete: it runs from 1:1 to 1:5000, and six of the ten above are recorded at 1:500 or higher. An FCA-regulated retail account is capped at 1:30.

An FSCA licence does not make a broker South African

This is the part sorting cannot fix. Only four of the 56 qualifying firms are headquartered in South Africa, and two of them, Avior and Duo Markets, are on this list. IG has a recorded opening date of 1974 and is a UK company. Exness and FXTIME are domiciled in Cyprus, Velocity Trade in Australia, SuperForex in Belize. An FSCA licence tells you a firm may provide financial services in South Africa. It does not tell you the firm is South African, and it does not tell you the entity you sign with is the licensed one.

Fourteen firms in the wider pool carry a label we would not put under a ranking like this: ten recorded as suspicious clones, three flagged offshore and one recorded as exceeding its licence. None of the ten above carries one. That is why the list stops at SuperForex on 61.8 rather than following the raw score order down.

Before you open an account

  • Search the FSCA register for the FSP number the broker publishes, and check the name on it matches the entity in the client agreement.
  • Read which company you are contracting with. A group can hold the FSCA licence in one entity and take deposits in another.
  • Compare the leverage the account offers against what the licence it is opened under permits.
  • Confirm whether the firm accepts clients from where you live. No licence on this page settles that question.

What this list leaves out: spreads, commissions, execution speed, withdrawal times and platform quality. We hold no spread data, so none of it feeds the score and none of it is ranked here.

These ten are pinned by hand, so they stay put until someone reviews them. That is the trade for a stated criterion: a filtered ranking rebuilds itself the moment a licence record changes, while a hand-ordered top ten reflects the scores on the day it was assembled. Both matter here, because the qualifying pool of 56 moves whenever we add a licence, correct an opening date or change a status label.

The obvious next page is the complete set. Every broker holding an FSCA licence is listed without a score threshold, which is where to go if you want the population rather than a shortlist. FSCA brokers with ten or more years narrows on track record instead of score, and FSCA brokers headquartered in South Africa answers the domicile question this page raises.

For the tier comparison, the same shortlist built on FCA licences and tier-1 regulated brokers scoring 70 or above show what a tier-1 requirement does to the leverage figures and to the size of the pool.

Everything above reflects licences recorded in the WIKILIX database as of today. Confirm any licence on the regulator's own register before you deposit, and confirm the licensed entity is the one named in your account agreement.

Most Popular Questions
The ten pins hold until someone reviews them, unlike our filtered rankings which rebuild themselves as records change. Scores move when we update a firm's licence or company detail, so this order reflects the day it was assembled rather than a permanent standing. The qualifying pool of 56 is re-measured at each review.
It is South Africa's market conduct authority for financial services, and it authorises firms as financial service providers with a number anyone can look up on its public register. The licence covers conduct toward clients in South Africa. It does not cover what a firm does under a different licence in a different country, which matters here because 52 of the 56 are headquartered outside South Africa.
None of the ten. In the wider pool of 56, fourteen do: ten recorded as suspicious clones, three flagged offshore and one recorded as exceeding its licence. Those labels are WIKILIX's own records rather than regulator findings. They are also the reason this page is hand-picked instead of generated from the raw score order.
Not in the way WIKILIX classifies them. We record the FSCA as tier two and the FCA as tier one. The practical differences are the retail compensation arrangements and the leverage ceiling: an FCA retail account is capped at 1:30, while six of the ten brokers here are recorded at 1:500 or above. Forty-eight of the 56 hold at least one tier-1 licence alongside their FSCA one.
IG, with a recorded opening date of 1974, which makes it the oldest firm in the qualifying pool by 13 years. Motilal Oswal, recorded from 1987, is next. Eleven of the 56 opened before 2010, so most of this pool is considerably younger than the brand names at the top of it suggest.
They are the ten highest WIKILIX scores among the 56 brokers holding an FSCA licence and scoring 50 or above, after removing the 14 that carry a status label other than a clean one. Score order is the only ranking criterion used. No editorial judgement about quality entered the order, and no position on this page was paid for.
That question has two answers and they are not the same one. Our records show which brokers hold an FSCA licence, and 56 of them score 50 or higher. They do not show which brokers accept South African clients, and only four of the 56 are South African companies. Check the FSCA register for the FSP number, then check the broker's own terms for client eligibility.
One hundred and fifty-seven brokers in the WIKILIX database hold a licence recorded against the FSCA, and 56 of those score 50 or higher. The ten on this page are the highest-scoring of that group with a clean status label, from HoxtonWealth on 80 down to SuperForex on 61.8. A second FSCA record in our database carries seven further firms, which this pool does not draw from.
