Most Popular Questions

Service or administrative complaints go first to your Investment Advisor, and then to the Vice President of Private Client Services for your region. Complaints alleging misconduct go directly to the Designated Complaints Officer at complaints@ventumfinancial.com.

The firm commits to acknowledging compliance related complaints in writing within five business days, with a substantive written response targeted within ninety days and notice if it will take longer. It names three further options: arbitration, the financial industry ombudsperson service, and a complaint to the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization.

Fully paid securities are held in segregation, and Canadian Investor Protection Fund coverage applies if the dealer becomes insolvent. The firm publishes the limits: up to CAD 1 million for general accounts, a separate CAD 1 million for combined registered retirement accounts such as RSP, RIF, LIRA and LIF, and a further separate CAD 1 million for certain other accounts such as trust accounts.

This protection covers dealer insolvency. It does not cover investment losses.

Yes, and they are among the larger fixed charges on its schedule. Transferring an account out costs 150 in full, or 75 per security to a maximum of 150. Deregistering a registered plan costs 125 in full or 75 partially.

Inactive or unclaimed accounts are charged 150 per year, and the firm states that it may charge inactivity fees retroactively at its discretion. Annual registered plan administration is 125 for an RRSP or RRIF and 50 for an RESP or TFSA, deducted each May from commission based accounts.

Through your Investment Advisor. There is no online cashier and no deposits or withdrawals page on the site, which is consistent with the advisory model.

The firm's fee schedule sets out what it charges to pay funds out: cheques and electronic funds transfer carry no charge, a wire transfer within Canada costs 25 per wire, and a wire transfer outside Canada costs 50 per wire. No deposit fee, processing time, minimum or maximum is published for any channel. Where a transfer is in a currency other than the account's, the firm sets the conversion rate itself and earns the difference between the market bid and ask in addition to any stated fee.

The firm does not publish a commission rate or a management fee, because both are negotiated individually and set in an agreement signed at account opening. A commission based advisory account is charged either a flat amount or a percentage of each transaction, plus ticket charges and exchange fees; a fee based or managed account is charged a negotiated percentage of account assets monthly.

The only published pricing is the schedule of fees for specialized services, effective 1 July 2025, which covers fixed administrative charges rather than trading costs. Get the negotiated pricing in writing before funding an account.

Two, according to the firm's own relationship disclosure. Managed accounts are discretionary, with the advisor making the decisions, and are fee based at a negotiated percentage of account assets charged monthly. Advisory accounts leave all trading decisions with the client, and are available either commission based, at a negotiated amount or percentage per trade, or fee based at a negotiated monthly percentage with a cap on the number of trades covered.

Registered plans are available, including RRSP, RIF, RESP, TFSA and LIF accounts. Neither account type has a published minimum deposit.

No. Ventum publishes no trading platform, terminal, app or download of any kind, and orders are placed through an Investment Advisor rather than by the client. The client portal is an account login showing holdings and key dates, not a place to trade.

Three execution terms follow from this. Orders are accepted and executed only between 9:30am and 4:00pm Eastern time, with no guarantee of execution outside those hours; the firm does not accept stop loss orders at all; and fixed income and over the counter trades are done on an agency basis only.

No. Ventum Financial is a full service Canadian investment dealer, not a retail forex or CFD provider. There is no self directed trading, no leverage ladder and no spread table anywhere on its site.

What it does offer is advice led investing in equities, fixed income, funds, options and commodity futures through an Investment Advisor or a Portfolio Manager. The firm states that it does not offer over the counter derivatives.

The operating company is Ventum Financial Corp, a Canadian investment dealer that has operated since 1982, with headquarters in Vancouver and Toronto and fifteen offices across Canada.

Two subsidiaries sit alongside it. Ventum Financial (US) Corp is a wholly owned subsidiary formed in December 2003 that serves institutional investors in the United States, and a separate arm provides insurance, segregated funds and annuity products. The firm's naming of that insurance arm is not consistent across its own documents: its relationship disclosure calls it Ventum Financial Services Corp, while its insurance website presents Ventum Insurance Services Corp.

Ventum Financial Corp is registered as an investment dealer in every Canadian province and territory, as a futures commission merchant in Ontario and Manitoba, and as a derivatives dealer in Quebec, so its core client base is Canadian and every account is opened through an Investment Advisor.

Its own account opening documentation names permitted US accounts and non North American accounts among the account kinds it opens, and a separate subsidiary serves institutional investors in the United States. The firm states that the contents of its US subsidiary's website are not intended as a solicitation in any jurisdiction where it is not registered as a securities dealer.

The firm's relationship disclosure lists cash and cash equivalents, fixed income and debt securities, equities including warrants, investment funds such as mutual funds, alternative investments such as options and income trusts, and commodity futures and commodity futures options. Life, disability and critical illness insurance and segregated funds are offered through its insurance subsidiary.

Ventum states that it does not offer proprietary products, and that certain other product types, such as over the counter derivatives, are not offered either.

By telephone and web form. The published toll free number is 1 800 810 7022, every office also lists a direct line, and there are separate contact forms for private clients and for institutional clients. Two mailboxes are published: info@ventumfinancial.com for general correspondence and technical support, and complaints@ventumfinancial.com for the Designated Complaints Officer.

There is no live chat, and the firm publishes no support hours. The site is in English only.

Ventum publishes no minimum deposit and no maximum leverage, for any account type. That is an absence of a published figure rather than a zero minimum or an unlimited facility, and it follows from the way the firm works: accounts are opened and funded through an Investment Advisor, and the commercial terms are set in an agreement signed at account opening.

A leverage disclosure statement is listed among the documents in the firm's new client welcome package, but no leverage number appears anywhere on the public site.

Yes, Ventum Financial Corp is regulated in Canada by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), and that registration was confirmed on the regulator's record on 3 August 2026. Dealer membership together with provincial registration is the authorisation, so there is no separate numbered certificate; the registration is identified by National Registration Database number 5290.

Client assets get real protection: fully paid securities are held in segregation, and Canadian Investor Protection Fund coverage of up to CAD 1 million applies per account category if the dealer fails, with combined registered retirement accounts counted separately. Regulation is not the same as a guarantee, and the main thing a prospective client cannot check from the website is cost, because pricing is negotiated individually with an advisor.
