A genuine Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) licence under MiFID, issued to ABC 123 (CY) Ltd (registration HE 346068). CySEC is an EU tier-2 regulator with an Investor Compensation Fund. The entity has since been renamed SM Capital Markets Ltd, and the ABC 123 websites that displayed this licence are defunct. Client protection: EU MiFID protections and Investor Compensation Fund cover for the licensed Cyprus entity only; it never covered the offshore retail solicitation.. Effective: 02 Nov 2017.

None of them grants permission to take client deposits or to deal in foreign exchange. In this case even the company claim fails, and there is no licence either.

No. We searched the Cyprus Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property for both ABC 123 and ABC123 and found no company under either spelling, while a wider search on ABC returned more than two hundred records, confirming the register was answering normally. The Cyprus claim is not supported.

The brand markets itself as ABC 123 GROUP of Cyprus, but no company under that name or the variant ABC123 is on the Cyprus register. The only corporate record we could tie to the brand is ABC123 LIMITED, New Zealand company number 6214267, incorporated on 23 January 2017 and since removed from the New Zealand Companies Register. Its sole recorded director is Pasileia ETEUATI PASIA.

Our assessment is that it should be treated as one. Three findings drive that: it holds no licence, the Cyprus company it advertises does not appear on the Cyprus register at all, and its website has gone offline. That combination is the standard profile of a brand that has taken deposits and disappeared rather than of a struggling but genuine broker.
