Crypto.com has appointed Stelios Moyseos as the Executive Director of its Cyprus entity, adding a seasoned compliance and regulatory specialist to its European leadership team. The move comes as the crypto exchange continues to expand its footprint across Europe and deepen its presence in regulated markets.
Moyseos joins Crypto.com from retail broker BDSwiss, where he served as Chief Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer. His background also includes experience as an officer at the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), bringing regulatory and supervisory expertise to his new role at the crypto exchange.
BDSwiss underwent a restructuring of its business model in 2024. Subsequently, CySEC, the local regulator, withdrew the broker’s license a year later due to prolonged inactivity. More recently, the broker’s remaining offshore entity was no longer reachable and stopped allowing new client onboarding, according to the available information.
Expansion Through Cyprus Acquisition
The appointment of Moyseos follows a period of strategic expansion by Crypto.com in Europe. In 2025, the exchange acquired CySEC-regulated A.N. Allnew Investments Ltd, the operator of the LegacyFX trading brand. Through this transaction, Crypto.com obtained a Cyprus Investment Firm licence under the European Union’s MiFID regime.
This licence grants Crypto.com the ability to offer traditional derivatives, marking a step beyond its core digital asset services. The acquisition provides a regulated framework for multi-asset trading and aligns the exchange with established investment firm standards within the EU.
Industry Trend Toward Multi-Asset Models
Crypto.com’s strategy reflects a broader industry trend in which global crypto exchanges look to Cyprus to secure EU-wide licences by acquiring established local brokers. Other major platforms, such as Coinbase and Kraken, have pursued similar routes, using CySEC-regulated entities as gateways to the wider European market.
This shift into multi-asset trading underscores how exchanges are seeking to diversify their revenue streams beyond pure digital assets. With crypto markets facing persistent headwinds in 2026 and some high-profile platforms shutting down, regulated traditional derivatives have emerged as a key growth priority for the sector’s largest players.
Against this backdrop, the appointment of a compliance-focused executive such as Moyseos to head Crypto.com’s Cyprus entity underlines the importance of regulatory expertise as exchanges navigate more complex, multi-asset business models within a tightly supervised European environment.
