Verification note

Butterfield Mortgages Limited is stated to be authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under Financial Services Register number 119274, per the group's own Legal and Disclaimers page. This covers UK residential mortgage lending by that subsidiary; it is not a retail forex or CFD dealing permission, and the group states separately that it is not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to carry on investment business in the United Kingdom. The authority's register was not consulted for this record.

Nobody at Wikilix has looked this licence up on the official register yet. Everything above comes from the record as supplied; treat it as a claim until you have checked it yourself.

Answered from this register entry and the authority’s own record.

Most Popular Questions
Licence 119274 was issued by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the financial authority for United Kingdom.
Butterfield holds this FCA licence. A licence on record means the authority published an entry; it is not an endorsement.
Nobody at Wikilix has looked this entry up on the FCA register yet, so treat it as claimed rather than confirmed. That is a gap in our coverage, not a finding against the licence.
The FCA register prints it under Butterfield Mortgages Limited, not Butterfield. Licences are often held by a subsidiary rather than the trading brand, which is why searching a register for the brand alone can return nothing.
Wikilix rates FCA tier 1 — the strictest band, with high capital requirements, segregated client money and a compensation scheme.
Butterfield has 3 other licences on record with Wikilix, across 3 jurisdictions. They are listed further down this page.
