Most Popular Questions

One business day. The group client agreement requires a client to say as soon as possible, and within one business day, that a trade confirmation or an account balance is wrong, and warns that the broker may not be able to correct a transaction or a balance if it is not told promptly. The same agreement excludes claims for profit a client says they would have made, so even where a trading error is the broker's own responsibility a claim for lost profit is not available, though it does not limit liability for death, personal injury or fraud.

Yes, and several sit outside the commission schedule. The broker's Hong Kong other fees page states that where a per order fee applies it covers order cancellations and modifications as well as the order itself, and that closing a position by telephone costs USD 30.00 per order. Its margin requirements page adds a monthly Margin Financing Charge that accrues on overnight margin balances, priced off a rate the broker works out itself rather than a published benchmark. The group client agreement also permits a daily Exposure Fee on an account judged to be at high risk of going into deficit, set by a proprietary model and chargeable even when the account meets the margin requirements.

Not necessarily on demand. The group client agreement published on the broker's United Kingdom site states that client money may be held in a client bank account with up to 95 days' notice for withdrawals, which means it may not be available immediately, especially during periods of high withdrawals, although the broker adds that it monitors cash flow regularly so that clients have timely access. Two withdrawal requests per calendar month are free and a fee applies from the third of any kind, at HKD 95 on a Hong Kong dollar bank transfer, USD 10 on a United States dollar wire and USD 1 on a local electronic transfer. The terms that bind an account are those of the group company carrying it, so a Hong Kong client should read the agreement they are actually offered.

Accounts are organised by who is opening them rather than by trading conditions, and the commission terms are common across them. The personal range is Individuals, Joint, Trust and Small Business, all with no minimum deposit. The professional range adds Family Advisor, Advisor, Money Manager, Family Office, Hedge Fund and Mutual Fund, Proprietary Trading Group, and Broker and FCM accounts, and advisor and money manager accounts can apply their own client markups on top of the broker's commission.

Interactive Brokers builds its own trading software. Clients work through Trader Workstation on the desktop, IBKR Desktop, the browser based Client Portal, and the IBKR Mobile and IBKR GlobalTrader apps. None of them carries a platform fee.

It depends on the channel. The instant local transfers eDDA and FPS credit within hours and run around the clock, while a bank transfer, a bank wire or a direct ACH transfer is usually tradable in one business day or less. A newly linked bank account can take up to four business days, online bill pay up to six, and a mailed cheque becomes tradable two business days after it arrives.

Two withdrawal requests per calendar month are free, and a fee applies from the third of any kind. The published charges are HKD 95 on a Hong Kong dollar bank transfer, USD 10 on a United States dollar wire and USD 1 on a local electronic transfer, with other currencies priced separately. Those fees do not cover charges raised by a beneficiary or correspondent bank.

Funding is bank based. In Hong Kong dollars the fastest channels are the instant local transfers eDDA and FPS, both free from the broker, available around the clock and credited within hours. An ordinary bank transfer is usually tradable within a business day, and United States dollar clients can also use a bank wire with no amount limit, a direct ACH transfer, a linked bank account, online bill pay, a mailed cheque or a transfer from a Wise balance.

Pricing is commission based with no spread markup, and clients pick a Fixed or a Tiered plan when the account is opened. On United States stocks and ETFs, Fixed is USD 0.005 per share with a USD 1.00 minimum per order, capped at 1 percent of trade value and inclusive of exchange, clearing and regulatory fees; Tiered runs from USD 0.0035 down to USD 0.0005 per share as monthly volume rises, with a USD 0.35 minimum and those fees passed through instead. Options are USD 0.15 to USD 0.65 per contract, futures USD 0.25 to USD 0.85 per contract, and spot currencies 0.08 to 0.20 basis points of trade value.

Interactive Brokers Hong Kong Limited, registered in Hong Kong under company number 0538097, is the entity a Hong Kong client contracts with and the holder of the SFC licence. The company was formed in February 1996, and its registration was confirmed against the Hong Kong companies register and the GLEIF Global LEI Index on 17 October 2026. It is one of nine group companies named in this review, alongside the United States, United Kingdom, Irish, Canadian, Australian, Indian, Japanese and Singaporean companies, each of which runs its own national site and holds its own authorisation.

There is no minimum deposit on an Interactive Brokers Hong Kong Individuals, Joint, Trust or Small Business account. The broker's pricing also states that there are no account minimums and no platform fees. The exception on record is a Broker or FCM account, which commits to USD 10,000 in commissions over its first eight months and USD 2,000 a month after that, with any shortfall charged as a maintenance fee.

Interactive Brokers Hong Kong publishes no restricted countries page, and its client agreement names no individual country. Its Hong Kong account application offers a closed country of residence list of 221 jurisdictions, and twenty two inhabited jurisdictions are absent from it, among them North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Myanmar, Venezuela and Belarus. The agreement separately excludes anyone located, organised or resident in a territory under comprehensive sanctions, which is stated as a category rather than as a list. Residents of Asia other than India, Hong Kong and Japan are routed to Interactive Brokers LLC in the United States rather than refused.

Hong Kong clients reach Interactive Brokers Hong Kong Limited on +852 3107 8333, and live chat is offered on the site. Cover runs from Sunday 1:00 PM to Friday 7:30 PM United States Eastern time, with no Saturday service and limited hours on Sunday. Support is available in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and written Chinese, and the office is at Suite 1512, Two Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong.

Interactive Brokers Hong Kong clients trade stocks and ETFs, options, futures, spot currencies, bonds, mutual funds and prediction markets, each with its own published rate on the broker's . Around 100 currency pairs are covered. Execution is direct market access rather than dealing against the broker.

Yes, it is regulated. Interactive Brokers Hong Kong Limited holds licence ADI249 from the Securities and Futures Commission, covering Type 1 dealing in securities, Type 2 dealing in futures contracts and Type 3 leveraged foreign exchange trading, and that licence was confirmed in the company's own name on the SFC register on 17 October 2026. Regulation is not the same thing as safety: the client money rules, the complaint route and any compensation available follow the group company an account is opened with, and trading leveraged and derivative products carries the ordinary risk of loss whoever supervises the broker.
