Broker Summary

What Wikilix has recorded about Kumo Markets: its history, the licences it holds, its trading conditions and its fees.

Kumo Markets Broker Overview

Kumo Markets is a retail forex and CFD brand operated by Kumo Markets Limited, a Business Company incorporated in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on 13 May 2020 under registration number 25875. The broker offers three account tiers on MetaTrader 5, with a 100 USD entry deposit, leverage advertised up to 1:500 and a product range covering currency pairs, metals, energies, indices and cryptocurrency CFDs. It holds no financial services licence in any jurisdiction.

Is Kumo Markets Regulated?

No. Kumo Markets is not regulated by any financial authority, and the broker states this itself: its help centre answers the question by saying the company is happily unregulated in order to better serve all our global customers. No regulator, licence number or supervisory reference appears anywhere on the site.

Two pages of the same site nevertheless describe the business as a licensed and regulated financial institution, on the company page and again on the fees page. That wording is not supported by any licence the site names, and it contradicts the help centre answer.

Kumo Markets Limited

The operating entity is Kumo Markets Limited, recorded as Active on the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Financial Services Authority entity register as a BC Business Company, number 25875, incorporated on 13 May 2020 through registered agent Euro-Caribbean Trustees Ltd. A Business Company registration of this kind establishes that the company exists. It is not a financial services licence and it carries no client protection.

The company number is stated inconsistently by the broker. The site footer gives 25875 BC 2020, which matches the register, while clause 1.1 of the client agreement gives 2587 BC 2020 and names the firm Kumo Markts Ltd. The same agreement states that client funds are held in a bank account belonging to Kumo Markets Capital, a name that does not appear on the register.

Is Kumo Markets Safe?

Kumo Markets carries a high level of client risk, because no regulator supervises it and no compensation scheme covers its clients. A dispute would have to be pursued against a Saint Vincent Business Company under the law of that jurisdiction, where the authority that holds the register does not supervise forex or CFD dealing.

Fund handling is stated inconsistently as well. The client agreement promises separation of client money from company operating expenses, while the help centre tells clients that deposits go into the broker's own cryptocurrency account or its own bank account. At the time of this review the client portal and the registration hosts were not serving, so an existing client could not reach their account area.

Kumo Markets Account Types

Three live accounts are published, all on MetaTrader 5, all permitting expert advisors, hedging and scalping, and all with a 0.01 lot minimum trade size.

  • STP STANDARD: 100 USD minimum deposit, no commission, EURUSD quoted from 1.8 pips, leverage to 1:500, maximum lot size 6.
  • ECN PRO: 1,000 USD minimum deposit, 8 USD per lot commission, leverage to 1:500, maximum lot size 100.
  • CORPORATE: 50,000 USD minimum deposit, 6 USD per lot commission, leverage to 1:100, maximum lot size 200.

Swap free and Islamic accounts are not offered. The help centre says the broker is looking into them.

Kumo Markets Spreads, Commissions and Fees

The only published spread figure is 1.8 pips on EURUSD for the STP STANDARD account. The ECN PRO tier is marketed as near zero spread, but no number is given for it. Commission is 8 USD per lot on ECN PRO and 6 USD per lot on CORPORATE, and nothing on STP STANDARD.

Funding charges are 1 percent on cryptocurrency deposits and 2 percent on bank transfer deposits, with no charge on withdrawals in either channel. The broker presents these as fees passed on from third party payment processors rather than as its own.

Kumo Markets Leverage

Maximum leverage is advertised at 1:500 on the STP STANDARD and ECN PRO accounts and 1:100 on CORPORATE. The figure is not consistent across the site: the help centre states 1:200 on standard accounts and 1:100 on ECN accounts, and the client agreement defines leverage as 1:200.

Kumo Markets Trading Platforms

MetaTrader 5 is the only platform, offered for Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone from the platform page. Live accounts connect to the KumoMarkets-Live server and practice accounts to KumoMarkets-Demo, with trading servers described as London LD5 and New York NY4.

Kumo Markets Deposits and Withdrawals

Two channels are published on the fees page: cryptocurrency, with a 100 USD minimum deposit and a 50 USD minimum withdrawal, and bank transfer, with a 5,000 EUR minimum in both directions. The help centre gives different figures, stating a 1,000 USD minimum first wire, and says that only Bitcoin is being accepted at present, with deposits taken through Coinbase Commerce and withdrawals paid through a B2BinPay wallet.

Withdrawals are processed by hand during UK business hours once identity documents are verified, and are described as taking two to five business days.

Kumo Markets Support

Support is by email at support@kumomarkets.com, by telephone on +44 20 8095 0469 and by live chat, in English only. The contact page states that support staff work mainly within UK working hours, and lists a registered office in Kingstown, an operations office in Vilnius and a support office in London.

Kumo Markets Pros and Cons

Strengths:

  • The operating company is named openly and is confirmed active on the official register of its jurisdiction.
  • Entry deposit of 100 USD, with commission, spread, lot limits and leverage published for each tier.
  • A named country restriction list and an itemised funding fee schedule are both published.

Limitations:

  • No financial regulation in any jurisdiction, which the broker confirms itself while two other pages claim the opposite.
  • Leverage, instrument counts, funding minimums and fund handling are each stated differently in different places on the site.
  • The company number and company name in the client agreement do not match the register, and the entity named as holding client money is not registered.
  • The client portal and the registration hosts were not serving at the time of this review.

Kumo Markets Review and Assessment

Kumo Markets is a real and openly named Saint Vincent company selling leveraged CFDs without any financial licence, and the most important thing to weigh before funding an account is that there is no regulator to approach if something goes wrong. The offering itself is conventional for this segment: one MetaTrader 5 platform, three tiers and crypto funding. What distinguishes this profile is how often the site disagrees with itself about facts a client would rely on, including its own regulatory status, its leverage, its company number and where client money is held.

How we know — 7 sources
  1. 1The help centre at https://kumomarkets.com/faq/ carries a Restricted Countries entry introduced with the words 'The following Countries are either sanctioned or strictly regulated to prevent CFD trading', split into a 'Countries Restricted' group and a 'Banned' group.
  2. 2The eight jurisdictions in the 'Banned' group are recorded as confirmed blocks: Yemen, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, South Sudan, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the USA. The broker bans residents of its own country of incorporation.
  3. 3The 35 jurisdictions in the 'Countries Restricted' group are recorded as likely rather than confirmed because the same entry adds 'Although we can cater to most of these territories, local restrictions may prevent certain banking transactions', which qualifies the restriction instead of stating a refusal. Democratic Republic of Korea appears in this group and North Korea in the banned group; the single code is recorded once, as confirmed.
  4. 4United States dependent territories are recorded as dependent-territory blocks covered by the named ban on the USA; they are not themselves named. The expansion was not applied to France, China or any other parent in the qualified group.
  5. 5The site footer and the partner programme page both state 'Kumo Markets does not accept applications from residents of internationally sanctioned countries', a category rather than a list, which is consistent with the named entries above and adds no further codes.
  6. 6The client agreement at https://kumomarkets.com/terms-and-conditions/ contains no restricted or prohibited jurisdiction clause; the downloadable client agreement points to a separate restricted and banned countries page, which is the help centre entry above.
  7. 7No whitelist is recorded: the registration form could not be reached at any of the broker's three signup hosts, so no jurisdiction is evidenced as explicitly accepted, and absence of a block is not acceptance.
Recorded by WIKILIX research, not published by the broker, and not a guarantee. A country listed nowhere above is not thereby accepted — check Kumo Markets's own terms before you open an account.
