Verification note

The FINRA register lists TASTYTRADE, INC. as a member and an SEC-registered securities broker-dealer. The register's CRD number, 277027, is the broker's listed CRD: the page gives 'CRD#: 277027/SEC#: 8-69649', and the broker's listed number is 'CRD 277027 / SEC 8-69649'. The same record's bdSECNumber prints SEC# 8-69649, equal to the stored SEC file number. The register's entity name, 'TASTYTRADE, INC.', also matches the broker's US company, tastytrade, Inc., formed in Delaware, with a Chicago IL address and phone 312-724-7075. The register records the licence as effective from 10 March 2016.

About this FINRA licence

What this authorisation is, what it establishes, and what it leaves open.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) lists TASTYTRADE, INC. as an approved member firm under CRD number 277027, recorded alongside Securities and Exchange Commission broker-dealer file number 8-69649. Membership of FINRA and registration with the SEC both showed as Approved with effect from 10 March 2016, and the entry carried no ending, withdrawal or suspension wording.

FINRA issues no licences. It is a private self-regulatory organisation overseen by the SEC, and its BrokerCheck service publishes records held in the Central Registration Depository. The federal broker-dealer registration is the SEC's grant, while the FINRA row records membership of the self-regulatory body. BrokerCheck described the permitted business as a put and call broker or dealer or option writer, and as a non-exchange member arranging for transactions in listed securities by an exchange member.

A BrokerCheck entry is a registration record, not a statement about solvency or conduct. Membership runs until a firm withdraws or is removed, so an entry confirmed on one date is not evidence of membership still in force later. The record covers securities business only, because United States off-exchange retail foreign exchange falls to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the National Futures Association.

This check read a main office at 1330 West Fulton Street, Suite 600, Chicago, Illinois, a business telephone of 312-724-7075, registration with the SEC, one self-regulatory organisation and 53 states and territories, and three regulatory disclosure events, each resolved by censure and a fine. The register publishes no expiry or renewal date of any kind, and no website for the entity.

To confirm, search CRD 277027 or file number 8-69649 at brokercheck.finra.org and open the firm's detailed report. A withdrawal, an expulsion, a change of entity name or a new disclosure would change what that record shows.

Most Popular Questions

A cash account trades only with settled cash and has no funding or balance requirement. A margin account requires a day-end balance of 2,000 US dollars or more before margin privileges apply, and then gives stock buying power at 2 to 1 against options buying power. Margin also unlocks strategies a cash account cannot run, such as short selling and uncovered options, subject to the permission level granted. The firm notes that the Pattern Day Trader rule was eliminated as of 4 June 2026.

Yes. USDC, USDT, PYUSD and RLUSD can be sent from a digital wallet, from 1 US dollar upward, into an individual account with crypto trading enabled. Withdrawals by stablecoin are not supported at present, so money arriving this way has to be taken out by another method. Cryptocurrency trading and custody are provided by Zero Hash Liquidity Services LLC and Zero Hash LLC rather than by tastytrade, and carry neither FDIC nor SIPC coverage.

It depends on the product. Securities held in a tastytrade brokerage account are covered by SIPC up to 500,000 US dollars, including 250,000 dollars in cash. Futures and event-contract accounts carry no SIPC protection; those balances are segregated by Apex Clearing Corporation under CFTC rules. Cryptocurrency is held by Zero Hash LLC rather than by tastytrade and is covered by neither FDIC nor SIPC insurance.

By phone on 1-888-247-1963 toll-free, or +1-312-724-7075 from outside the United States, Monday to Thursday from 7:00 to 17:00 US Central time and Friday from 7:00 to 16:00. There is a live chat on the site that opens with a chatbot and can be escalated to a person, and a searchable help centre at . Email is split across seven departments, including separate accounts, banking, trade desk and technical addresses. Questions arising in the overnight futures session are handled by email only, and the firm does not accept orders by email at all.

Stocks, ETFs and fractional shares, stock and broad-based index options, E-mini, micro E-mini and E-nano futures, options on futures, event contracts, cryptocurrency and currency pairs. Access depends on the trading permissions granted to the account: buying stock, buying options and selling covered calls are available at every permission level, while short selling, uncovered calls and futures require the highest level. Defined-risk option spreads and uncovered puts sit on the top two levels.

Six: Individual, Retirement, Joint, Business and Trust, International, and Hedge Funds. These are United States brokerage structures rather than graded trading tiers, so none of them carries its own minimum deposit or its own commission schedule. Retirement covers Traditional, Roth, SEP and inherited IRAs, and an Individual or Joint account can be opened as either cash or margin.

Yes, through a dedicated International account for residents of eligible countries. International clients are limited to individual cash, individual margin and joint accounts, and the firm states that it does not support international entity accounts. They can fund by bank, account or wire transfer, by check or by stablecoin deposit, in US dollars only. A withdrawal by check, however, is offered to United States customers only.

No. Across the firm's funding pages the only routes offered are ACH bank transfer, wire transfer, ACATS account transfer, paper check and stablecoin deposit, and no card or e-wallet option appears anywhere. All funding must also be in US dollars, as the firm provides no currency conversion. Third-party funding is not accepted in either direction, and the name on the external account has to match the brokerage account exactly.

An ACH withdrawal to a linked US bank account is free. A domestic wire costs 25 US dollars and typically arrives in one business day; an international wire costs 45 dollars and takes two to five business days. A withdrawal by check costs 5 dollars and is available to United States customers only. Stablecoin cannot be used for withdrawals at present, so funds deposited that way have to leave by another route.

tastytrade runs only its own software, so there is no MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 or cTrader. It offers a desktop application, currently Desktop 2.0 for macOS, Windows and Linux, a browser platform reached by signing in at my.tastytrade.com, and a mobile app for iOS, iPad and Android. There is also a publicly documented open API with a testing sandbox, which carries order entry as well as market data for equities, options, futures and crypto.

Stocks, ETFs and fractional shares are free to open and to close. Stock and ETF options cost 1 US dollar per contract to open, capped at 10 dollars per leg, and nothing to close, and broad-based index options are priced the same way. E-mini futures cost 1 dollar per contract each way, micro E-mini and E-nano futures 0.75 dollars, options on E-mini futures 1.25 dollars and options on the micro contracts 0.75 dollars. Cryptocurrency is charged at 1 per cent of the total to open and to close, falling to 0.75 per cent for Bitcoin and Ethereum, and exchange, clearing and regulatory fees are added to everything except crypto orders.

There is none. The firm states that there are no account minimums to open an account and no minimum deposit for funding one, and that this applies to both domestic and international customers. The one balance threshold that matters is margin: stock buying power at 2 to 1 requires a day-end balance of 2,000 US dollars or more. A cash account has no funding or balance requirement at all.

A standard margin account at tastytrade offers 2 to 1 against the cash balance, and margin privileges require a day-end balance of 2,000 US dollars or more. Portfolio margin, a separate risk-based methodology that requires approval, raises that to roughly 6.7 to 1. Cash accounts trade with settled cash only and carry no leverage. These are United States margin rules rather than the much higher multipliers advertised by offshore currency brokers.

tastytrade offers five funding channels and no others: ACH bank transfer, wire transfer, an incoming brokerage account transfer by ACATS, paper check, and stablecoin deposits. There are no debit or credit card options and no e-wallets. Speeds vary a great deal: ACH can credit buying power immediately where the bank is linked through Plaid, a domestic wire takes about one business day, a check about four, and an ACATS transfer 7 to 10 business days. Stablecoin is a deposit route only at present, as the firm states that stablecoin withdrawals are not yet supported.

Yes. tastytrade, Inc. is a registered United States broker-dealer and FINRA member under CRD 277027 and SEC number 8-69649, and a CFTC-registered Introducing Broker and NFA member under NFA ID 0492333; both registrations were confirmed on the authorities' own registers on 4 August 2026. Securities accounts carry SIPC cover up to 500,000 US dollars, including 250,000 dollars in cash, and disputes can go to FINRA arbitration. Safety is not uniform across products, though: futures and event-contract balances are not SIPC-protected and are segregated by Apex Clearing Corporation instead, and cryptocurrency is custodied by Zero Hash LLC with neither FDIC nor SIPC coverage. The firm's FINRA record also carries three regulatory disclosures.

Licence 277027 was issued by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the financial authority for United States.
tastytrade holds this FINRA licence. A licence on record means the authority published an entry; it is not an endorsement.
We located this entry on the FINRA register. Note that confirming a register ENTRY is not the same as confirming a live licence — the register’s own wording on this page is what states its current standing.
The FINRA register prints it under TASTYTRADE, INC., not tastytrade. Licences are often held by a subsidiary rather than the trading brand, which is why searching a register for the brand alone can return nothing.
Wikilix rates FINRA tier 1 — the strictest band, with high capital requirements, segregated client money and a compensation scheme.
This page links straight to the FINRA register. Search it for 277027, and for the name TASTYTRADE, INC. rather than the trading brand.
