Orbex runs a complete site in Persian that asks you to register and calls itself a supervised broker. On the English page of that same site, Orbex names Iran as one of eight countries it does not serve.
Why this matters
If you open an account from Iran, Orbex has already written down that you were never eligible. That gives it a ready reason to refuse your withdrawal and close the account, after your money is in.
Exhibit 1Every flagged clause gets its own number so you can point at this one. The number does not change, so a link to it keeps working.CriticalHow much this clause can cost you, in our reading. Critical can take your money or your profit. Warning can delay or limit it. Notice is simply worth knowing before you sign.Rarely seenHow ordinary this wording looks next to the contracts we read. This is our reading of the clause, not a count of other brokers.8The figure this clause puts a number on, taken from the broker's own words.
Orbex does not offer its services to residents of certain jurisdictions such as the USA, Iran, North Korea, Indonesia, Mauritius, Russia, Myanmar, and Romania.
Buried at section 28 of 30 in the Risk Statement From Orbex, 93% of the way through. We counted the numbered sections in the Risk Statement From Orbex. This clause sits in section 28 of 30, about 93% of the way through. A fee written on the first page and the same fee written near the end are not the same disclosure.
What it costsThe same clause worked out on a round number, so you can see it in money or in days. It is an example, not a quotation.A trader in Tehran reads the Persian page, registers and deposits $1,000. The sentence that makes them ineligible is on a page written in a language they were never sent to.
Our readingOur own comment on the clause, not the broker's words. Anything we quote is marked as a quotation.Publishing a full marketing site in the language of a country your own legal page excludes is not a translation oversight. Persian is the language of Iran, and the exclusion sits on the English page rather than the Persian one.
- Worse together with Exhibit 6Read these two clauses together. Each one costs more because the other exists.Ineligibility hands Orbex a documented ground to close the account under the same clauses that let it reverse every trade.
