FCA Regulated Brokers With 15+ Years of Operation

Every broker in the WIKILIX database with a Financial Conduct Authority licence, at least fifteen years of recorded operation, and no adverse status label. Ranked by WIKILIX score, with the thirty firms that met the age test but not the status test named in full.

Updated August 2026

Eighty-four brokers in the WIKILIX database hold a licence from the UK Financial Conduct Authority, have been operating for at least fifteen years, and carry no adverse status label in our records. They are listed below in WIKILIX score order, from Marex at 91.3 down to NCM at 48.1.

The median score across the 84 is 61.5. Thirty-five of them opened before the year 2000, and the oldest, Bank of Scotland plc, records an opening date of 1695.

Where the boundary of this list sits

Three conditions, all read from our own records. The firm holds at least one licence issued by the Financial Conduct Authority. Its recorded opening date is 2011 or earlier, which is where fifteen years falls in 2026. And its WIKILIX status label reads "regulation", which is the label we use when nothing adverse is recorded against the firm.

That last condition does most of the work. 114 firms in our database satisfy the first two conditions. Thirty of them carry a status label that this page excludes.

Who falls just outside it

A reader expecting a complete roll of long-established FCA firms will notice absences. Santander UK plc, with a recorded opening date of 1857, is not here: our records label it "exceeded". BTIG LLC carries the same label. U.S. Bank is recorded as "noRegulation" despite holding FCA, FINRA and FinCEN entries, and ABans Global Limited carries a "suspiciousClone" flag. Those labels are WIKILIX's own. They describe what we have recorded, not any finding by a regulator, and a reader who wants one of those firms considered should read its individual page rather than treat its absence here as a verdict.

How this list was built

The query runs against the licence rows, the opening date and the status label, then sorts by WIKILIX score, descending. The score is a composite of our regulation, licence, software, spread, account-type and symbol sub-scores. It is not a rating of execution quality and not an opinion about who should hold your money. Scores here run from 48.1 to 91.3, so the bottom of this page and the top of it are a long way apart.

Sixty-seven of the 84 hold licences from two or more separate authorities. Forty-nine hold at least one tier-1 licence beyond the FCA one, counted by joining regulator short names against our own tier table and skipping the ambiguous ones: "FSA" and "SEC" each map to more than one authority in our data, so neither is counted. Thirty-three of the 84 are headquartered in the United Kingdom and twelve in the United States. Holding an FCA licence and being a British company are different facts.

What fifteen years of authorisation does not tell you

Longevity records survival, not conduct. IG Group has an opening date of 1974 and Jefferies one of 1962, and neither fact says anything about the spread you will pay or how a withdrawal request will be handled. Before you deposit anywhere:

  • Look up the firm's reference number on the FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk and confirm it is authorised rather than an appointed representative.
  • Check that the legal entity named in your account agreement is the entity holding the licence. Several groups here run FCA-licensed and offshore entities under one brand.
  • Confirm whether your account would fall under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, which does not extend to every entity in a group.
  • Read the recorded maximum leverage as an upper bound across all entities. Twenty of these firms record a maximum of 1:500 or higher, which is not an FCA retail figure.

This page reflects licences, opening dates and status labels held in the WIKILIX database today. It does not tell you what any firm charges, whether it accepts clients from your country, or how it handles a dispute. Confirm any licence on the regulator's own register before you deposit.

This list is generated from a stored query rather than maintained by hand. A broker that loses its FCA authorisation, or that picks up a clone warning in our records, drops off it without anyone editing this page. One that passes its fifteenth year appears. The count above was measured on the day the page was built, so read it as a reading rather than a permanent figure.

The fifteen-year threshold is arbitrary in the way all thresholds are. Lowering it to ten adds firms that opened in the years after the 2008 crisis. Raising it to twenty strips out most of the retail CFD names and leaves the banks and the institutional brokers.

Most Popular Questions
It records survival, not conduct. A long opening date means the firm has traded through more than one market cycle, which is real information, but it says nothing about spreads, execution or how withdrawals are handled. Scores on this page range from 48.1 to 91.3 despite every firm meeting the same fifteen-year threshold, so age alone clearly does not determine our assessment.
It means the entity is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and subject to its conduct rules, including client money segregation. Eligible clients of a failed UK firm may claim through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. The protection attaches to the specific authorised entity, not to the brand, so confirm which entity your contract names before relying on it.
This list cannot tell you. It is built from licence records, opening dates and status labels, and the WIKILIX database holds no field for which countries a broker accepts clients from. Many of these groups run separate entities for different regions, and the entity that would take your account may not be the FCA licensed one. Check the broker's own terms.
Regulation in the UK means authorisation by the Financial Conduct Authority, and 33 of the 84 firms here are also headquartered in the United Kingdom. The other 51 hold an FCA licence while being domiciled elsewhere, twelve of them in the United States. An FCA licence and a UK head office are separate facts, and this list is built on the licence.
Two reasons. A firm with an opening date after 2011 fails the age test, and a firm without a recorded opening date is excluded entirely rather than treated as new. Separately, 30 firms that passed the age test carry an adverse status label in our records, including Santander UK plc and BTIG LLC. Those labels are ours, not a regulator's finding.
Bank of Scotland plc, with a recorded opening date of 1695. Schroder follows at 1804 and Pictet at 1805. Thirty-five of the 84 opened before the year 2000. Among the retail names, IG Group records 1974 and Saxo Bank records 1992. Opening dates are read from our own records and are not always the date a firm began regulated activity.
84 appear on this page. That figure comes from 114 firms that hold an FCA licence and have a recorded opening date of 2011 or earlier, minus 30 that carry a status label such as exceeded, noRegulation or suspiciousClone in our records. The 30 are excluded by the query, not by an editor.
252 brokers in the WIKILIX database hold at least one licence recorded against the Financial Conduct Authority. This page shows the 84 of them that have also operated for fifteen years or more and carry no adverse status label. The full FCA list, without the age condition, is a separate ranking on this site.
