Moderate contract risk

Wocom's online trading risk statement puts every loss from someone else using your login on you. The platform's disclaimer also excludes Wocom's liability for any trade placed there and any system failure. Wocom lists five client agreements on its website but publishes none of them, so you cannot read the contract online. An idle account pays HK$100 every six months, and withdrawal transfer fees have no published price.

Broker Summary

What Wikilix has recorded about WOCOM: its history, the licences it holds, its trading conditions and its fees.

WOCOM Broker Overview

WOCOM (Wocom Group) is a Hong Kong brokerage group and part of the Wing On Group. According to its website, Wocom started in the 1970s as a branch of an international commodities trading house and was acquired by the Wing On Group in 1986. It runs separate Hong Kong companies for securities, futures, forex and investment management, and its products range from Hong Kong and China Connect equities, IPOs and stock options to foreign stocks, unit trusts, futures and forex. Clients trade through WOCOM's own web and mobile service, and accounts are opened in person at its office in Central, Hong Kong.

WOCOM Regulation and License

WOCOM's website states that four of its Hong Kong companies are licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), each for its own regulated activity:

  • Wocom Foreign Exchange Co. Limited, CE number ACL076, leveraged foreign exchange trading (RA-3)
  • Wocom Limited, CE number AAH843, dealing in futures contracts (RA-2); the website also describes it as an Exchange Participant of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange
  • Wocom Securities Limited, CE number AAC230, dealing in securities (RA-1); described as an Exchange Participant of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong
  • Wocom Investment Management Limited, CE number AAG705, advising on securities and asset management (RA-4 and RA-9)

These licence details are WOCOM's own statements, and each CE number can be looked up on the SFC's public register of licensed persons.

Is WOCOM Regulated?

WOCOM says it is regulated in Hong Kong: every licence it lists is an SFC licence held by one of its Hong Kong companies. Which company, and so which licence, applies to a client depends on the account, as set out under account types below.

Is WOCOM Safe?

WOCOM is an established Hong Kong group by its own account, with published SFC licence numbers and in-person account opening, but a licence is no guarantee of safety and several important terms are not public. Its Cash, Margin Trading, Futures Trading, Foreign Exchange Trading and Options Trading Client Agreements are listed on its Download page by title only, and the pages describing its licences say nothing about investor compensation or how client money is held.

WOCOM also warns that fraudulent mobile trading platforms have used its name. It tells clients to download its app only through its official website, , and to pay only into the designated bank accounts listed there, never into personal or third-party accounts.

WOCOM Account Types

WOCOM offers individual, joint and company accounts, and its opening forms offer cash, margin, futures and options accounts. Each product is held by a different company: the Securities and Stock Options Account by Wocom Securities Limited (funded in HKD, USD or RMB), the Futures Account by Wocom Limited (HKD, USD or RMB) and the Forex Account by Wocom Foreign Exchange Co. Limited (HKD or USD).

Accounts cannot be opened online: applicants book an appointment with WOCOM's staff, complete the forms and submit the originals at its registered office, and the online trading service needs a separate application. The individual and joint opening form requires applicants to declare that they are not US citizens or residents for tax purposes. WOCOM publishes no minimum deposit and no maximum leverage for any account.

One statement on the site conflicts with this range: WOCOM's fraud alert says it only provides Hong Kong and A-share trading services, while its deposits page, opening forms and Download page list futures and forex accounts and agreements. The site does not reconcile the two.

WOCOM Spreads, Commissions and Fees

WOCOM's fee schedule for Hong Kong securities, effective 30 June 2025, sets a negotiable commission with a minimum of HK$125 per transaction, and a minimum of CNY125 per transaction for China Stock Connect trades, plus exchange levies, trading fees and stamp duty at the published rates. Fees for futures, options, overseas markets and other products are given on request by its Credit Control and Client Administration Department rather than published.

WOCOM Trading Platforms

WOCOM's own online service, WOCOM Online Trading, is available through a web login at itrade.wocom.com.hk and through mobile apps for Android and iPhone that its website links to on Google Play and the App Store. It runs Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. WOCOM presents it as an online stock trading service: its website names no online platform for the futures or forex accounts, and no MetaTrader or cTrader platform.

WOCOM Deposits and Withdrawals

Deposits are accepted only into WOCOM's designated bank accounts: by bank transfer or cheque for every account, by FPS or PPS for the Securities and Stock Options Account, and by telegraphic transfer through Hang Seng Bank or Bank of China (Hong Kong) for overseas clients. FPS, bank transfer and cheque deposits made before 4:00 pm on a trading day are credited the same day, PPS deposits before 7:00 pm, and telegraphic transfers normally take 2 to 3 working days. Cash deposits are discouraged and may be rejected, and third-party deposits may be returned.

Withdrawals are requested on a Fund Withdrawal Form and paid by cheque, by CHATS to a bank in Hong Kong or by telegraphic transfer, always to the client's own account. Instructions received before 11:00am on a business day are processed that day and later ones on the next working day. CHATS and telegraphic transfer withdrawals carry a handling fee whose amount is not published, and no card, e-wallet or cryptocurrency option is listed.

WOCOM Support

WOCOM's office at Room 1002 Wing On Centre, 111 Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong, is open 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends and public holidays. Clients can call (852) 2853-0111, message (852) 5616-0672 on WhatsApp, fax (852) 2854-3822 or email cs@wocom.com.hk, and the website is available in English and Chinese.

WOCOM Pros and Cons

Strengths:

  • Hong Kong group dating, by its own account, from the 1970s and part of the Wing On Group since 1986
  • An SFC CE number published for each of its four licensed companies
  • Broad Hong Kong product range, from securities and China Connect to futures and forex
  • Same-day crediting for FPS, PPS, bank transfer and cheque deposits made before the daily cut-off

Limitations:

  • No minimum deposit, leverage, or fees for futures and other products published
  • Client agreements not available online
  • Accounts opened in person only, and not available to US citizens or residents
  • Handling fees on CHATS and telegraphic transfer withdrawals not quantified
  • Conflicting statements on whether futures and forex trading is offered

WOCOM Review and Assessment

WOCOM suits clients who want a traditional Hong Kong broker for Hong Kong and China Connect equities, with an in-person relationship and futures and forex accounts alongside. Its SFC licence numbers are published and easy to check, but its pricing beyond Hong Kong equities, its leverage terms and its client agreements are not, so the most important step before funding an account is to obtain the agreement and fee terms for that specific account.

How we know — 8 sources
  1. 1United States: WOCOM's individual and joint account opening form (Account Opening Information Statement, Declaration item 1) requires every applicant to confirm 'I am not/we are not citizen(s) or resident(s) in the US for tax purposes' (https://wocom.com.hk/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Account-Opening-Information-Statement-Individual.pdf).
  2. 2The company and partnership form carries the matching declaration that the applicant 'is not a Specified U.S. Person or a Passive Non-Financial Foreign Entity that has controlling persons that are U.S. citizen(s) or resident(s) in the U.S.' under FATCA (https://wocom.com.hk/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Account-Opening-Information-Statement-Company.pdf, Declaration item 1).
  3. 3American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the US Minor Outlying Islands and the US Virgin Islands are not named by WOCOM; they are recorded as dependent territories covered by the United States exclusion.
  4. 4Hong Kong: the account opening forms are built for Hong Kong clients, with an HKID card field, the tax-residence option 'I hold Hong Kong tax residence only', and a separate document list 'For corporate client incorporated or registered in Hong Kong' (https://wocom.com.hk/account-opening/).
  5. 5Overseas clients are also catered for ('Telegraphic Transfer (applicable to overseas clients)' on https://wocom.com.hk/deposits/; 'For corporate client incorporated or registered overseas' on https://wocom.com.hk/account-opening/), but no list of accepted countries is published and nationality and residence are free-text fields on the forms, so no other country is recorded as accepted.
  6. 6Accounts are opened in person only: 'We do not offer online account opening services. If investors wish to open an investment account with us or use our online trading services, they must make an appointment with our staff, fill out the necessary forms, and submit the original copy to our registered office for processing.' (https://wocom.com.hk/fraud-alert-click-here-e2-9d-97/).
  7. 7The website terms of use on https://wocom.com.hk/disclaimer/ state only that the pages are not an offer or solicitation 'in any jurisdiction to any person to whom it is unlawful to make such an invitation or solicitation in such jurisdiction'; no country is named there, and the site publishes no restricted-countries page.
  8. 8The Cash, Margin Trading, Futures Trading, Foreign Exchange Trading and Options Trading client agreements are listed by name on https://wocom.com.hk/download/ but are not published online, so any country terms they contain are not public.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about WOCOM

Most Popular Questions

WOCOM warns that people impersonating it have used fraudulent websites, emails and mobile trading platforms carrying its trademarks, and says its official website is , where its mobile platform should be downloaded. It does not open accounts online, and clients should deposit only into the designated bank accounts shown on that website, never into personal or third-party accounts. Suspected impersonation can be checked with WOCOM on (852) 2853-0111, by WhatsApp on (852) 5616-0672 or at cs@wocom.com.hk, and the identity of its licensed representatives can be confirmed on the SFC website.

WOCOM says it began in the 1970s as a branch of an international commodities trading house and was acquired by the Wing On Group in 1986; within that group, Wing On Company International Limited is listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (stock code 0289). The company holding an account depends on the product: Wocom Securities Limited for the Securities and Stock Options Account, Wocom Limited for the Futures Account and Wocom Foreign Exchange Co. Limited for the Forex Account.

WOCOM's commission on Hong Kong securities is negotiable, with a minimum of HK$125 per transaction, and China Stock Connect trades carry a minimum of CNY125 per transaction, plus exchange levies, trading fees and stamp duty at the published rates. Fees for futures, options, overseas markets and other products are given on request rather than published.

No. WOCOM does not offer online account opening: applicants make an appointment with its staff, complete the forms and submit the originals at its registered office in Hong Kong. It offers individual, joint and company accounts, and using its online trading service requires a separate application for its Electronic Trading Services.

WOCOM offers its own online service, WOCOM Online Trading, through a web login and mobile apps for Android and iPhone that its website links to on Google Play and the App Store. The service runs Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. WOCOM presents it as an online stock trading service, and its website names no MetaTrader or cTrader platform and no online platform for its futures or forex accounts.

Withdrawals are requested on WOCOM's Fund Withdrawal Form and paid by cheque, by CHATS to a bank in Hong Kong or by telegraphic transfer, always to an account in the client's own name. Instructions received before 11:00am on a business day are processed that day and later ones on the next working day; how long the money then takes to arrive depends on the bank channel. A handling fee applies to CHATS and telegraphic transfer withdrawals, but WOCOM does not publish the amount.

WOCOM accepts deposits only into its designated bank accounts: by bank transfer or cheque for every account, by FPS or PPS for the Securities and Stock Options Account, and by telegraphic transfer through Hang Seng Bank or Bank of China (Hong Kong) for overseas clients. FPS, bank transfer and cheque deposits made before 4:00 pm on a trading day are credited the same day, PPS deposits before 7:00 pm, and telegraphic transfers normally take 2 to 3 working days. Cash deposits are discouraged and may be rejected, third-party deposits may be returned, and no card, e-wallet or cryptocurrency option is listed.

WOCOM does not publish a minimum deposit. Its account opening page, deposits page and account opening forms give no minimum for the securities, futures or forex accounts, and no minimum or maximum amount is stated for any deposit method.

Yes. Wocom Group's account opening forms require applicants to declare that they are not US citizens or residents for tax purposes, so US persons cannot open an account. The forms are built for Hong Kong clients, and the broker also caters for overseas clients, for example with telegraphic transfer deposits, but it publishes no list of accepted countries. Accounts are opened in person at its registered office in Hong Kong.

Wocom Group can be reached by phone on (852) 2853-0111, by WhatsApp on (852) 5616-0672, by fax on (852) 2854-3822 and by email at cs@wocom.com.hk. Its office at Room 1002 Wing On Centre, 111 Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong, is open 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Chat is offered through a WhatsApp button on its website rather than an on-site live chat.

Wocom Group does not publish a maximum leverage. It offers margin financing on Hong Kong securities and has futures and forex accounts, but its account opening, deposits and products pages give no leverage ratio, and its Margin Trading, Futures Trading and Foreign Exchange Trading Client Agreements are listed on its Download page by title only.

Wocom Group's products page lists Hong Kong securities with margin financing, China Connect, IPOs, stock options, foreign stocks, unit trusts, local and foreign futures, and forex, and its deposits page has separate Securities and Stock Options, Futures and Forex accounts. However, the broker's fraud alert states that it only provides Hong Kong and A-share trading services, and the site does not reconcile the two statements.

Wocom Group states that four of its Hong Kong companies are licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC): Wocom Foreign Exchange Co. Limited (CE number ACL076, leveraged foreign exchange trading), Wocom Limited (AAH843, dealing in futures contracts), Wocom Securities Limited (AAC230, dealing in securities) and Wocom Investment Management Limited (AAG705, advising on securities and asset management). Every licence it lists is a Hong Kong SFC licence, and each CE number can be looked up on the SFC's public register of licensed persons.
