BaFin Restricts Turbo Certificate Trading for Retail Investors
Germany’s regulator BaFin has imposed new restrictions on the sale and promotion of Turbo Certificates, high-leverage derivative products often tied to forex, index, or commodity markets. The rules, effective June 16 2026, require standardized risk warnings, client-knowledge checks, and ban all trading incentives or bonuses. This move aims to curb retail investor losses and may prompt other EU regulators to adopt similar protective measures for leveraged trading products.
