BaFin Regulated Brokers: All 18 in the WIKILIX Database

Every broker in the WIKILIX database that records a BaFin licence and a clean regulatory status label, ordered by score. Eight further BaFin records are excluded because their status label says something else, and the intro gives the reason for each.

Updated August 2026

Eighteen brokers in the WIKILIX database hold a recorded licence from the Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, the German financial supervisor better known as BaFin, and carry a clean regulatory status label. That is the complete set we hold, not a shortlist of five. Scores run from 49.3 at the bottom to 79.9 at the top, with the median at 60.4.

The data also answers something most BaFin pages skip. A BaFin record does not mean a German company: only four of the eighteen record Germany as their country, and five record Cyprus. IG Group Limited has operated since 1974 and carries seven other regulator entries alongside BaFin. FXFlat Bank GmbH records BaFin and nothing else.

How we built this list

Two conditions, one query. The first is a recorded BaFin licence. The second is a WIKILIX status label of "regulation", which is what we record when a broker's licence entries check out and nothing on file contradicts them.

Twenty-six records in the database carry a BaFin entry. Eight are absent from this page because their recorded status is something other than "regulation": four are flagged as suspicious clones, two as operating without regulation, one carries a scam report, and one has no status label at all. Those eight are not hidden. They sit in our safety rankings, because a page headed "regulated" is the wrong place for them.

What the eighteen share, and what they do not

  • Fourteen record licences from two or more authorities. Four record BaFin alone.
  • Eleven also record an FCA entry, eight a CySEC entry and five an ASIC entry.
  • Eight opened before 2010. Commerzbank's recorded opening date is 26 February 1870, older than the next entry by 78 years.
  • Maximum leverage is recorded for fourteen of them. Five record 1:500 or higher, and five record 1:1, which is a cash account rather than a leveraged one.

What a BaFin authorisation covers

BaFin supervises banks, insurers and financial services institutions under German law. An institution it authorises is subject to capital requirements and client money rules, and it reports to the supervisor. For retail clients of an EU-authorised entity, the ESMA product intervention rules also apply, capping CFD leverage and requiring negative balance protection. None of that is a judgement about how a firm treats its customers.

One caveat matters more than the others. Our records show that BaFin appears against a broker. They do not show which legal entity holds the authorisation, or whether it is a German licence or a passported EU notification, and the two look identical here. BaFin's own company database is where you settle that, and it is free to search.

Checks worth doing before you deposit

  • Search the company name in BaFin's database and read the entity type, rather than treating any result as confirmation.
  • Compare the legal entity on the account agreement with the entity named in the register. Groups often run several.
  • Confirm which entity your account is opened with, since the leverage cap and the compensation scheme follow the entity and not the brand.
  • Read the percentage of retail accounts losing money that the firm publishes on its CFD pages.

What this list will not tell you

It carries no spreads and no minimum deposits, because we hold neither figure. It says nothing about execution quality or how quickly withdrawals clear. It also does not tell you whether any of these firms will accept you as a client. That depends on your country of residence and on the entity you would be onboarded to, and it changes without any licence record changing.

This page is a stored query rather than a hand-maintained list. When a broker's licence records change, or its status label moves off "regulation", the grid changes with it and nobody edits the page. The counts written into the copy are the exception: they were measured on the day the page was built and are rechecked when it is refreshed.

Two things move the total. A new BaFin record on a broker we already hold adds one. A status label moving from "regulation" to a clone or scam flag removes one, which is the more common direction of travel.

Where to go next depends on what you were checking. FCA regulated brokers covers the UK authority that eleven of these eighteen also record, and CySEC regulated brokers covers the Cyprus authority behind eight of them. Tier-1 regulated brokers scoring 70+ widens the question from one regulator to a whole tier. If the opening dates here caught your attention, brokers operating 50 years or more is built on that field alone. For the Australian and Singapore licences several of these firms also carry, see ASIC regulated brokers and MAS regulated brokers.

Everything above reflects licence records held in the WIKILIX database as of today. Confirm any authorisation on BaFin's own register before you deposit money with a firm.

Most Popular Questions
Maximum leverage is recorded for fourteen of the eighteen and ranges from 1:1 up to 1:1000. Five record 1:500 or higher, and five record 1:1, which means a cash account with no leverage at all. The figure we hold is the group maximum, so the cap that actually applies to you depends on the entity your account is opened with.
Eight are held back by their status label rather than by their licence. Four are flagged in our records as suspicious clones, two as operating without regulation, one carries a scam report, and one has no label recorded. A page titled for regulated brokers is the wrong place for those records, so they sit in our safety rankings instead.
This list cannot answer that. It is built from licence records and status labels, and the database holds nothing about which countries a broker accepts clients from. Several of the eighteen record a country outside the EU entirely. The only reliable answer is the broker's own onboarding terms, and the entity you would contract with may not be the one holding the BaFin authorisation.
BaFin is the Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, Germany's integrated financial supervisor. It authorises and supervises banks, insurers and financial services institutions, sets capital and conduct requirements, and publishes a searchable database of the firms it authorises. For retail clients of an EU-authorised firm, the ESMA product intervention rules also apply, capping CFD leverage and requiring negative balance protection.
No. Four of the eighteen record Germany as their country: FXFlat Bank GmbH, s broker, Trade Republic Bank and Consorsbank. Five record Cyprus, two record Australia, and the remaining seven are spread across seven other countries. A BaFin record tells you an authorisation exists in Germany, not that the company itself is German.
Commerzbank, with a recorded opening date of 26 February 1870. AKBANK follows at 1948 and IG Group Limited at 1974. Eight of the eighteen opened before 2010, and the youngest, Admirals SC Ltd, opened in September 2019. Opening date is the only age field we hold, and it says nothing about how long the firm has held its BaFin authorisation.
Eighteen. Twenty-six records in the database carry a BaFin entry, and eight are excluded because their recorded status is not "regulation": four suspicious clone flags, two no-regulation flags, one scam report, and one record with no status label. The eighteen that remain are generated from licence data rather than chosen by hand, so the number moves on its own.
Eighteen brokers in the WIKILIX database record a BaFin licence together with a clean status label. The highest scoring are RMS TRADE, recorded under the full name Pepperstone Group Limited, then UniCredit Bank GmbH and IG Group Limited. Four record BaFin as their only regulator: GMA CAPITAL, FXFlat Bank GmbH, s broker and Consorsbank. The rest appear in the grid on this page.
