About this FCA licence

What this authorisation is, what it establishes, and what it leaves open.

The United Kingdom authorisation behind the StoneX brand is held by StoneX Financial Ltd, a separate UK company, not by StoneX Group Inc. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) lists that company on its Financial Services Register under firm reference number 446717, Authorised since 24 March 2006, with registered company number 05616586.

The FCA is the United Kingdom's statutory conduct regulator, and the Financial Services Register is its own public record of the firms it authorises. This entry's Type is printed as Regulated, and its permissions include dealing in investments as principal, dealing in investments as agent, arranging (bringing about) deals in investments, and safeguarding and administration of assets. A separate payment services status, Authorised Payment Institution since 27 March 2018, appears alongside.

An entry here records that the FCA has granted permissions to a named legal entity. It is not a statement about solvency or conduct, and confirming an entry today is not confirming the permissions remain unchanged tomorrow. The authorisation attaches to StoneX Financial Ltd, not automatically to every site or affiliate trading under the StoneX name.

This check read the entity name, the reference number, the Authorised status and its start date, a London address at 120 London Wall, a switchboard number and the website www.stonex.com. The record also carries a requirement effective 13 October 2025 restricting regulated activity in emission allowances for retail clients, and names two cloned firms the FCA has published against it. No expiry date is printed: a UK authorisation runs until it is cancelled or withdrawn.

A reader can repeat this check by searching 446717 at register.fca.org.uk and opening the firm record. The answer would change if the status moved away from Authorised, if requirements or permissions were varied, or if the company changed its registered name.

Most Popular Questions

Which protection applies depends on the StoneX company your account is with. A client of StoneX Financial Ltd in the United Kingdom can take a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service and may be covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme for eligible claims, clients of StoneX Europe Ltd in Cyprus fall under the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund up to 20,000 euro, and United States clients of StoneX Financial Inc. have SIPC cover for eligible securities claims and NFA arbitration for futures disputes. Start with the firm's own complaints process, then the scheme named for your entity. Worth reading first: the FINRA record for StoneX Financial Inc. carries 76 regulatory event disclosures.

StoneX does not publish a restricted countries page, so the only list it states itself is the country selector on its own account opening form, which offers 230 jurisdictions. Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria and Micronesia are absent from that selector, which points to a block without StoneX naming one. Acceptance there means StoneX will take an account enquiry from that jurisdiction, not that every product is available in it, and the company you would contract with depends on where you are.

Nothing on this profile supports that description. StoneX Group Inc. is listed on NASDAQ under SNEX, and its United Kingdom company StoneX Financial Ltd is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference 446717, confirmed on the FCA's own register. What does exist is brand abuse: the FCA register entry for that company names cloned firms published against it, so sites and people trading on the StoneX name are not always the group. Confirm the entity and the website before sending money or sharing documents.

By telephone or email: the New York switchboard is +1 212 485 3500, general enquiries go to contact@stonex.com and account questions to accountquestions@stonex.com. Regional numbers are published for offices including London, Frankfurt, Nicosia, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Toronto and Krakow, and recorded support languages are English, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. No live chat is recorded for this profile.

StoneX is the brand of StoneX Group Inc., a United States company listed on NASDAQ under the ticker SNEX, which dates itself to 1924. The parent does not take client trading accounts itself: around thirty operating companies sit beneath it, and the one authorised in the United Kingdom is StoneX Financial Ltd, company number 05616586. Which of those companies an account is with determines the rules and protections that apply to it.

Spread betting markets carry no commission, and neither do CFD markets other than shares. Share CFDs are charged at 0.08% on United Kingdom and European shares with a minimum of GBP 10 or EUR 10, 0.08% on Australian shares with a minimum of AUD 5, from 0.08% on Asian shares with a minimum of SGD 10, and 1.8 US cents per share on United States shares with a minimum of USD 10. The Professional account rebates turnover above GBP 25 million notional in a calendar month, from GBP 4 per million on foreign exchange and GBP 2 per million on indices. No average spread is published, so the spread cost of a trade cannot be compared in advance from published figures.

Card payouts are published at three to five business days. An online withdrawal runs from a minimum of GBP 100 to a maximum of GBP 20,000 per transaction, or the whole available balance where that is lower, and StoneX charges no withdrawal fee of its own, including on BACS transfers. A net deposit on a payment method has to be back to zero before excess funds can be withdrawn by a different route, and a small number of Visa and MasterCard credit cards cannot receive payouts, in which case funds go to a nominated bank account.

Two platforms are recorded: MetaTrader 4 and TradingView. MetaTrader 4 runs on the Standard MT4 account across indices, foreign exchange, metals and commodities, and supports Expert Advisors, the MetaTrader Market and FX Blue add-ons, with Windows, iOS and Android builds. TradingView is listed for CFD accounts across indices, shares, foreign exchange, metals and commodities, with its indicator library, screeners and Pine Script, on desktop, iOS and Android. Both are available from the StoneX download centre.

No minimum opening deposit is published for any StoneX account. The practical floor is set by how the account is funded: a card deposit has a minimum of GBP 100 or the equivalent in EUR or USD, while a bank transfer has no stated minimum. The spread betting, CFD, Professional and Standard MT4 accounts each record no deposit requirement of their own.

The platforms recorded for StoneX cover index, share, foreign exchange, metals and commodity markets. These are traded as CFDs, and on the United Kingdom site as spread bets. Share CFDs reach United Kingdom, European, United States, Australian and Asian markets and are priced by commission, while other CFD markets and spread betting markets carry none. No instrument counts are published for this profile.

Accounts are opened through StoneX's own application process, and the broker only accepts money that belongs to the account holder. Third-party payments and cash paid directly into its bank account are not accepted and are returned to source, deposits have to be in the base currency of the account they come from, and refunds go back only to the original funding source. Up to three payment cards can be registered on an account at a time. This profile records no detail of the identity documents requested at sign-up.

No maximum leverage is published. None of the four accounts recorded for StoneX, which are spread betting, CFD, Professional and Standard MT4, carries a stated leverage cap, and no overall figure is published for the broker either. Treat any single headline leverage number for StoneX as unverified.

StoneX takes debit cards, credit cards and bank transfers, and charges nothing of its own to deposit or to withdraw. No electronic wallet or local payment option is recorded. The card minimum is GBP 100 or the equivalent in EUR or USD, a bank transfer has no stated minimum, and money has to come from the account holder: third-party payments and cash paid into the bank account are rejected and returned to source.

Yes, through its operating companies rather than through the listed parent. The authorisations confirmed on the regulators' own registers for this profile are StoneX Financial Ltd in the United Kingdom under Financial Conduct Authority firm reference 446717, StoneX Financial (HK) Limited in Hong Kong under Securities and Futures Commission number BCQ152, StoneX Financial Inc. in the United States as a FINRA member broker dealer under CRD 45993 and an NFA member under 0476094, and StoneX Europe Ltd in Cyprus under CySEC licence 400/21. Permissions in Singapore, Australia, Japan, Canada and the Dubai International Financial Centre are documented in the group's own disclosures but were not confirmed on those registers. Regulation is not the same as safety: each authorisation belongs to one company, so what protects you depends on which StoneX entity holds your account.

Licence 446717 was issued by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the financial authority for United Kingdom.
StoneX holds this FCA licence. A licence on record means the authority published an entry; it is not an endorsement.
We located this entry on the FCA register. Note that confirming a register ENTRY is not the same as confirming a live licence — the register’s own wording on this page is what states its current standing.
The FCA register prints it under StoneX Financial Ltd, not StoneX. Licences are often held by a subsidiary rather than the trading brand, which is why searching a register for the brand alone can return nothing.
Wikilix rates FCA tier 1 — the strictest band, with high capital requirements, segregated client money and a compensation scheme.
This page links straight to the FCA register. Search it for 446717, and for the name StoneX Financial Ltd rather than the trading brand.
StoneX has 10 other licences on record with Wikilix, across 8 jurisdictions. They are listed further down this page.
